- Come along on an epic 6 day backpack in the Wind River Range of Wyoming! This is a loop that begins and ends at the Big Sandy trailhead. Joining me on this trip is Bryan DeLay (link to his CZcams channel is below). We traverse the burly Texas Pass as our entry point into the iconic and majestic Cirque of the Towers and hike many "unofficial trails" in the very rugged backcountry of The Winds! The scenery is absolutely stunning. I have come to consider this mountain range among the most beautiful in the world.

Hi Cat! This backpacking adventure was truly stunning and dreamy! Beautiful weather. Green and flowery and snowy too! Thank you for creating this wonderful video and sharing it.
Good morning 🌄 from New Mexico... awesome scenary...
Catherine Gregory . . thanks for posting . . . I hiked these trails thru the Wind River Range, by the Cirque of the Towers and JackAss Pass, back in October of 1988 . . . Originally, having planned to hike the Tetons, our trip there was thwarted with the continued Yellowstone Fires of '88 . . .those trails had been closed the day before we arrived. Thus, a quick change, back downstate to the Wind River Range . . 6 days of very interesting trails . . .ironically it started raining on us the first morning . .and as we crossed the Continental Divide to the east, that turned into snow . . .lived in snow for 5 days . . . last day out, after crossing back over the divide to the west, a beautiful blue sky day greeted us . . . Sadly, I've never been back to get to see ALL the panoramic views. I do remember all the beautiful natural lakes . . by the scores and scores . . hundreds of them . . .from small half acre ponds to large 200+ acre lakes . . .
WOW! WOW! WOW! So majestic! Absolutely stunning! Isn't God AWESOME in His creation! Thank you so very much for taking us along on your travels. I just LOVE it!
Thank you so much!

Beautiful views!
Absolutely awesome video. THANKS
Amazing trip!
As always enjoyed this video . I particularly like the scenes with mountains reflected in still water. Your mountains are so much different than any around here it is a pleasure to go along on your journeys.👍😄🎩
Your videos are always so crisp, great to watch:)
Stunning scenery
What a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing it
Wow what a gorgeous video!!! My oh my we gotta go there before we are too old to!! Thank you so much for this wonderful video!
I have to add my two cents too. Once again your excellent choice of scenic locations shines through. But it is your "photographer's eye" that makes your video so enjoyable. Who else would be able to see the beauty of tall green grasses waving in the wind!
Thank you 🙏!
Thank you for this. My dad and I backpacked in when I was in 5th grade. We camped at Marms lake and did a day trip up Texas pass. Thanks for the footage which brings back good but challenging memories.
Stunning views 👍🏻
So cool, Catherine.
Wow, beautiful country.Thank you.
Great views, thanks for sharing!
Just from this video, alone, and at 66 years old, I know that I must go and see this place for myself. I've never had a "bucket list," but I do now. You make truly wonderful videos of nature and hiking. Thank you.
My hiking partner in this video (Bryan) is 67.
deanxxi you won’t regret it
@deanxxi, I'm 66, my wife is 65 and along with our daughter, we're avid backpackers and hikers in Colorado. As long as you're in reasonable health and your joints don't give you too many problems, you can hike as well!! The wilderness is calling.
Yep. I’m 66 too and just returned from our annual man hike into the Wind River range. It snowed on us so you may want to schedule your trip for late August 2021.
Well my 66 year old legs held up pretty well when I was there on 6/25/23. Wasn't ready for the high streams, no bridges and if you like the mountains in snow you better be ready for mud. High water made it an out and back hike but it was quite awesome. Put the camera on a rock and ran some video to bring it home. No bears or signs, a few flakes of snow on 6/27. Pretty intense, made me want to climb higher and still processing the experience. Be advised that last ten miles to the Sandy lake trailhead needs a high clearance vehicle. My Accord took 40 minutes and one rock hit the frame. Very few crowds and a zillion lakes to fish in. Was my third backpacking trip there, long hikes in through the foothills coming from the east but would a great feeling to cross through, hike the entire range, just a hassle getting a ride back to your ride.
Lovely
Gorgeous!
Very well done. You certainly get the most out of that A6400.
Very nice video. It's awesome you got to experience the different views of the Wind River Range. Just took my kids up to The Cirque. Very cool thanks for sharing
Speaks to my soul.
Thank you Catherine. Just wanted to say this day a very Merry Christmas to you. Having to stay put right now. Caretaker. Van's geared up and ready to go though and so I'm I. Have a few friends interested in what we do. Have told them to watch your videos. It would motivate them even more to get out there. Happy new year as well and hope to cross paths with you out there one day. Good evening Mam.
Awesome.
Beautiful video 👌
Beautiful video! So many inspiring views. I am adding this to my ‘want to plein air paint’ list!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Looks really epic 🙂
Nice video!!! I watched it because someone on CZcams invited me in a comment on my channel. Your video really helped me psychologically and emotionally prep for what might be coming my way this summer. I think I might have to physically prepare too since I d been hibernating in my house nearly the entire pandemic. 😂😂😂
Keep up the good work!!! 👍😁
Definitely the most beautiful video on youtube over the last few years. You are an amazing video artist Catherine. I've watched this video several times before and always so terrific! Love the Wind River Range! Thank you.
I like this one too! So glad you enjoyed it Joyce! Thank you 🙏
Just came across your channel by chance. What a find! Your video is awesome. The Wind River Range is on my bucket list. Thanks so much for sharing.
I was researching a trip to the Cirque and your video was absolutely perfect. Well done!

Great video highlighting the landscapes and beauty of the Winds! You seemed to find just the right spots to set up camp.
Great hike, nice video!

Cinematic, perfect music and videography again! Can see the superior video quality on our big TV
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing your video. I was able to enjoy your video..
Thanks, Cat. The evening light is so beautiful. Gorgeous video.
Thank you David.
That sunset at 8:15!!!!!
O My. My Dear Catherine, that was absolutely stunning; you have struck-it-rich. I had goose-bumps from the very beginning to the very end; I still do thinking about your latest video at times. Some tech notes: seems like that was the heaviest pack you've ever carried, and it's very clear you've also set up your tent a few times before. Thank You for getting up early and photographing the sun cresting, the shots were breathtaking. Please tell me that you have been recording your vides to an external hard drive or CD disks. One day, while sitting in the back yard around a fire with Family and friends, you are going to wish you could brake them out and watch them. Peace/Love, and continued Graces.
Thank you Robert. I do keep everything on an external hard drive. I had 6 days of food. I think my pack was in the area of 30 lbs.
Wow Cat this was so amazingly beautiful....like the Titons meets Yosemite but better....wow thank you. I'm saving your hikes so I hope to travel like you someday. Thank you thank you thank you 🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍🌼🤍
2 gud enjoy you both.way to go.🌴
Spectacular ! Worthy of a PayPal donation.
Thank you 🙏!!
Beautyfull an nice trip... From Indonesia
You have much better cinematography than a lot of other popular RV-Vanlife-CZcamsrs.
It’s a good mix of nature’s true beauty and a timeline of hiking.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of Kraig Adams on CZcams; but the parts where there’s no commentary and just the hike reminds me of his style of filming.
That’s exactly what ppl appreciate, a largely quiet video because we all know the real star of the show is the location.
USA has many gorgeous places to go to. I’m jealous, greetings from the urban jungle of Singapore 🇸🇬.
Thanks for allowing us to live vicariously through your videos.
Thank you so much! 🙏
Dope vid! Inspiration for my videos. Subscribed!
Catherine, how funny we constantly just miss you and your travel mates by mere days, We just hiked the same area a few days ago. Took our lunch break at the same camp at Diamond Lake and camped at the shhhh....secret lake near Sandy Lake. That mountain range never disappoints. I was a little shocked at the trailhead and the crowds. No secret anything there anymore. Maybe we will have the pleasure of seeing each other on the trail one day. Keep up the good work. Matt n Pam
It's definitely not a secret. Hope you had a great trip!
pinkze he say " i have tried to think of a word to describe this adventure and the production of your movie, the word has to be EPIC "
Thank you 🙏!
U r very lucky.awsom place
Nice!
Superb!
Thanks a lot Caroline!
This video is your best yet Cat, thanks for sharing your adventures!
Wow, thank you!
What an amazing wonderful place. Vids such as this take me to places I've never been. Although I know vid does not do places as beautiful as this justice. ...Spots like "Texas Pass" show you just how small you really are in this ever expanding universe. Another wonderful vid. Thank you...keep living the good life, cheers!
Thank you Joe.
Cecil B. DeCatherine! Your photography, music and story are outstanding! Everyone needs to pass information around about your site so you can get the many more subscribers you deserve.
Thank you so much!
Amazing. You could publish a book of those views
Sitting here in my home in Sacramento trying to stay out of the thick smoke from all of the forest fires enjoying your video, I have to agree with Greg Chalik, Your photography, music and story are outstanding! 🤗
Thank you so much!
Always dreamed of going there...maybe too late for me...thanks to you I can see wha t I always wished to see
Beautiful...I prefer the more forested valley floors.
This hike is something I dream of doing..even though I’ve never hiked and I live 4250 miles away in Ireland!
Amazing Cat. 😬
Catherine, I think you have ramped it up little with this video. I'm specifically talking about the script, music, storyline and production. Well done!!! I'm sure it doesn't hurt in my mind that you are hiking in one of my favorite places in the world too...I've also been through the Cirqe, Jackass Pass and Texas Pass but from a different trailhead. Backpacking paradise is what I call the Winds.
I would call it that too! Thank you. It was an epic trip in an epic location. I felt it deserved an epic vibe. :)
Your shots are nicely composed; you have a good aesthetic sense. Thank you for posting this.
Thank you!
Enjoying all of your adventures
Thank you 🙏! I appreciate you watching.
Hey Catherine....another video with excellent composure and sound track....I watch many u tubers and your views are by far the best... All the best to you... Good to see you out and about once again......Hank and Pam from South Texas
Thank you so much!!
I just wanted to tell you that our videos are SO good, and continue to improve. Everything; the shots you take, soundtrack, the editing, angles, narration, and overall story..... you capture these magical places so well. Your are truly setting a new standard for youtube hiking videos! Great job and thank you for sharing!
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind feedback!!
I second all of the comments here. This is only the second video of yours I've watched, and they are captivating. I can't improve much on The_Voluntaryist" comments, except to say that catching the sounds of your camp, especially the stove, the wind in the passes, the serenity of your presentation, your choice of music, is the next best thing to being there. Thank you. A lot.
Now if someone could invent a way to pipe in those mountain smells.
once again you found another spectacular place on the USA soil. Oh to be young and healthy again. Thank You
Lots and Lots of good shots of warbonnet peak. It is on Jackass pass. I camp on top of Jackass pass and Climbed warbonnet peak 1976 . I can see all the details of the route in the video Thank you
