  • Desensitizing Fear & Building Confidence
    Presented by: Ian Dunbar
This video qualifies for .5 trainer & .5 behavior consultant CCPDT CEUs
I have always felt that with the exception of at play aggression, most dog bites are fear-based. However, regardless of how the dog's "aggression" has been classified (e.g., dominant, fearful, maternal or idiosyncratic), my training protocols are always the same, comprising, classical conditioning, progressive desensitization and teaching basic manners for better control and to increase confidence and pro-social behavior.

Grabbing is often confused with biting

George is a 3 1/2 year old boxer pitt x. He lived behind work for @ 5 months. Shelter got him. His ear and throat were torn. My only problem with him is on walks he "freezes about every 20 feet. He heels well. George and my mini blue heeler got out the fromt door one day. I walked down the sidewalk and the heeler followed me home. But no George. Got in the car and drove @ a few blocks. When I pulled back intoMy driveway my new neighbor was on my porch with George. He won't wear a collar but loves his harness. I just don't know why he freezes on walks, George likes the Weimaraner on one side but not the Yorker in the other side.. George gets on well with the cat. Diane

Perhaps a generic video for what could be in my opinion a complex behavioural issue
