This cover kills me 💔 The sadness in their eyes is so transparent that before they even start singing, my tears are already flowing. 😭 So sad and yet so beautiful. 🤧🥺❤

8:04 I'm here today where you were then -- a new fan that's riding the roller coaster of their back catalog. Such a sad song, so honestly portrayed. Thank you so much for making such a respectful reaction.

Big shout out to Earle. I pray he is healthy and happy. When Tony Wakim left the group in 2017, they did a search resulting in the bringing in of J. None to the group in April of 2018. That was an incredible addition. I would bet they are already discussing their options.

I told myself I wasn't going to watch any reactions to this one, because it is incredibly hard song to listen to as a fan for many years, and I don't believe I could handle it if the reactor doesn't "get it."
I made an exception for you, because I have found your reactions to the a cappella groups to be measured, intuitive and honest. You didn't disappoint. Thank you for getting it and appreciating what they did here. You may not have fully realized there were 5 parts being sung. Eli (glasses) did a great job covering both the Tenor 1&2 parts for the recording.
It's hard. I think they did a great job, but I miss Earl. And will for quite a while, I expect.
Since you asked, this is a John Mayer cover.
And lastly, we have not been told yet what Earl's future plans are, but I'm sure you'll hear about it when we do!

I don’t know about this one. I mean, Earl has left the group which makes the song so much sadder. But at the same time we get to hear Layne sing! It’s gonna be so different without Earl. We miss him so much 😔

You can almost feel he pain in Geoff's voice. And you can we it in their faces. They just officially announced it a day or so before this video. 🥺🥺

Back in the day, I was sad when I heard Chris Rupp was leaving Home Free, but they acquired Chance, who I think is a beautiful addition! I'm hoping the same thing will happen to VP!

Honestly... this one is heartbreakingly beautiful. Like... I'm sad that Earl has left the group. I really do wish him well. But, I really do feel like this is VoicePlay trying to reassure that everything is going to be alright. And I know things will be alright. Even if it is rough to see someone who's been with the group as long as I've known about them step down... after twenty-three years with the group. I know it couldn't have been an easy decision to make, and I trust that they made it for the right reasons. I don't know any of those reasons, but I trust them to have made the right choice for all of them. Even if it is a difficult decision with an unfortunate outcome.
But yeah, you can really feel the pain they are going through in this song. They're heartbroken about his departure, themselves. Still, the heart of life... the heart of the band is still good, and they will persevere.

Also, yes, it is a cover. I've heard the original, but I first heard a "chiptune" cover of the song by a group called I Fight Dragons... which is very much worth listening to.

Earl will be missed. But I know all the true fans, we wish him well. You can hear the hearts of the other guys breaking. But they still sound amazing, and we know this is just a new chapter in Voiceplay’s book. And they know their fans are for them too.
Oh, and this is a cover of a Jon Mayer song...

I'm not sure if this has been said already but they actually did this song because Earl left the group for personal reasons. There's a behind the scenes about it. They said this was very difficult for them.

Eli did both tenor parts for this arrangement since Earl left - he'd been with the group, in one incarnation or another, since 1997 so from my understanding he just felt he needed time to do his own thing.

Much love to earl very sad and I wish he would have stayed ...but I am interested to see the vocalise of whoever takes his place and I mean with him leaving it opens an opertunity for him to have a solo career

Yes, Earle was with Geoff and Layne from the very start in middle shcool. It was this one that made me wonder if Earl had left because because of a health problem. I know they made Queen in 5 minutes after he had a health scare. But this is pure speculation on my part, I have no other reason for thinking so. So please don't quote me.

I'm actually glad Earl left the group on just a vocal level. I always thought he was the weak link.

i'm with you on that point......his high voice singing grated on my last nerve.....when he sang just tenor, i had no problems, but omg not with the high tenor......i always closed my eyes and scrunched my face.....LOL.....i have no doubt they will find another singer that meshes well, no problem.
