the pigs came out of arcges at the top of the huge speaker towers at the start of this amazing song, what you don;t see here is, at the end they fell out of the towers to the floor where they were instantly deflated and taken off to the sides! It was an incredible feat bu the crew. When the massive firework pyros went off at the edge of the stage you could feel the heat fro them, we were about 50 feet from the left hand tower, what a night!

No idea if they have shows anymore ...Vanderbilt has gone woke and cucked now anyway.
The video behind them during Welcome to the Machine sucked my brains out. 2 hits of clean blotter.

You also don't get burned out on one band, and you will satisfy more viewers by hitting more of their favourite bands more often.

The pigs were only used for this one song. Also if you listen at about the 4:55 mark of your video, you can hear a bit if the Dr Who theme song if you’re familiar with it. This song was the finale of the first set before intermission. Most of the concerts on this tour were in stadiums. There are some effects that were more impactful in an arena setting (like this show) but this song I thought was even better in the stadium setting. I’m remember the bigs breathing fire and exploding before falling at the end, which they couldn’t quite do the same with indoors. Still amazing in every way.

The Who: I suggest you tackle their last 5 albums with Keith Moon on drums, which are also the peak period of their popularity: Tommy (1969), Who's Next (1971), Quadrophenia (1973), By Numbers (1975) & Who Are You (1978). Tommy & Quadrophenia are double albums, so this is really like doing 7. I think you will find these albums excellent.

Loving the reaction. This is a great song when they play it live. Really atmospheric in parts then straight out hard rock.
If you are wanting a way to ease into The Who then I highly highly highly recommend you check out “A Quick One While He’s Away” Live at the Rolling Stones Circus. It’s a live video but you get to see the band when they were at their best - you need to see them live to see the energy they had especially the drummer haha

In 1994, they played 2 nights at Texas Stadium. I went to both. The ceiling was open on both nights. On the second night, I was on the floor with a bunch of friends and it started pouring rain during Run Like Hell, close to the end of the show. Instead of waiting for it to stop, they played through and changed the lyrics to Rain Like Hell. All the people on the floor had to leave through a section of the stadium where there was about 2 1/2 feet of water. Awesome experience!

I love seeing your joy in discovering the music of my younger years. You have a very deep rabbit hole when you get into The WHO... I"m 74 years old and have seen The WHO many times. I have most of their albums... I recommend the albums "Who's Next" one of their best, "Who Are You" 1978, "Tommy" the first Rock Opera, "Quadrophenia"... just to start... I've also seen Pink Floyd several times. When they brought this tour to the San Francisco Bay Area I waited in line for 3 days and nights to get tickets. It was epic... and since you love a great guitar I highly recommend you get into some Joe Bonamassa, who has more #1 Blues/Rock albums than anyone in history and is regarded as one of the great guitarists. "Angel of Mercy" live at the Greek Theater or "Mountain Time" live at the Royal Albert Hall

Hey, Silas! Considering how much you love good guitar playing, I'm surprised you haven't checked out Eddie Van Halen. His band, Van Halen (which he co-founded with his brother Alex on drums), was one of biggest bands throughout the 80's, 90's and into the 2000's. The band has had a number of lead singers thru the years (3 or 4...can't remember exact number...I'm gettin' older...sue me), but the core of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums and Michael Anthony on bass remained constant until the 2000's when Michael Anthony left the band and was replaced by Eddie's son, Wolfgang.
You should really watch Eddie's solo "Eruption" from their Live Without a Net concert. (Sammy Hagar was the lead singer at this time.) You'll see why Eddie is considered by many to be the GOAT and has been a major influence on most of today's guitar players.
Keep up the good work. ROCK ON! 🤟 🖖 ✌️

Alright Silas, I was at this concert at Earls Court London in 1994, as you mentioned you've already seen alot of the Pulse concert..!! With this song "One of These Days" I was sitting in the top balcony on the left as yourt looking at the stage, I was literally 50ft away from where the Pig (Wild Boar) 🐗 appears out of the darkness mid song, it was incredible + I'd taken alot of magic mushrooms 🍄 so was tripping my head off, hallucinating full on, so you can imagine what was going through my mind looking at a Giant Wild Boar with lasers in it's eyes ⚡️⚡️🐗🤪😵‍💫😲..!! And as you've already said you've watched most of the Pulse concert so I'm sure you've seen "Comfortably Numb" with the Giant Mirror Ball descending from the roof well it was virtually opposite to where I was sitting in the balcony 🔅..!! It still sends shivers down my spine and makes my hair stand on end some 30 years after..Pink Floyd and Roger Waters concerts are just pure Theatre and Visually and Emotionally, no artists come even close to trying to match them

The pigs that were push out of the speaker towers was a representation of when back in the 60's music critics said " Pink Floyd music will not sell when pigs can fly.". Much like the disco ball is a FU ( " comfortably numb") critics said their music will not sell cause they don't play 4 minute dance songs. For Sabbath, the first three albums are essential. They had many lineup changes later but Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio taking over for Ozzie is another good one to listen to later. For The Who, I would start with Tommy and the two albums after. They have a ton of classic singles before Tommy but as an album listen, starting with Tommy they really hit their stride (kind of like starting with Dark Side of the Moon then later going back to their earlier work)

I know that this comment is 7 months late and a dollar short, but if you get the opportunity to go see Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, spend the money. I missed out on getting to any PF concerts. When we moved to the rural metro Detroit area last fall, the chance of a lifetime fell into my lap. I scored a row 5 center seat at the NMSOS concert in Royal Oak, MI. The music focused on early Floyd songs, and it was just as loud and well done as I could have ever hoped for. They opened with this song, which got ALL of our juices flowing. Right before intermission, they launched into what I thought was their best song, "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun."" Guy Pratt (bassist who replaced Roger Waters) is the bassist for Nick, who at 75+ years of age is still hammering those skins. If they make it back to the U.S. I will be shelling out another $200 to see these guys perform...
Maybe review their performance of Controls. Nick allows free filming of his concerts, so I am positive that using their official video is perfectly cool...

With Black Sabbath you should start with their first album Black Sabbath (1970) and work forward: Paranoid (1970) Master Of Reality (1971), Vol. 4 (1972), Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973), Sabotage (1975), Technical Ecstasy (1976), Never Say Die (1978), Heaven And Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981) & Live Evil (1982). Ok. Let the pigs fly. Love and warm regards from Cologne Germany. I´ve saw this Concert 1994 in Rome, Italy. Here any facts: The concerts of the "P.U.L.S.E. TOUR" featured even more special effects ( On the day of the concerts, the airspace above the respective city was closed for several hours for safety reasons due to the laser show !!! ) than the previous tour of even other bands and artist tours ever and it was in 1994, including two custom designed airships. They also used an Antonov military cargo plane plus 2 x Cargo Boeing 747s. 3 seperate stages leapfrogged around North America and Europe, each of that stages 180 feet (55 m) long and featuring a 130 foot (40 m) arch resembling the Hollywood Bowl venue. One stage in use, one being dismantled from the previous venue and one being set up at the next. They need 3-4 days to building on stage up 3 days for re-building.When Pink Floyd performed this in the US, they traveled with 4 48' military grade mobile generators. 1994 there wasn't a stadium built with enough electrical input to run the Pink Floyd show. That was also new for the American´s. The US Army said: "Ok, that´s cool project and makeable for us - let´s do it for the american audience - But we are always there! Is that understood and clear!?" - Answer Gilmour: "Yes Sir it is clear, thanks a lot, then let´s go. You will not regret it". I think the american audience don´t regret it. That's what happens when you forget to give a budget figure to your lighting effects designer. That sound comes from a 220,000 watt sound system. The glitter ball from "Comfortably Numb" was over 15ft (4,6 m) in diameter, and the lasers were a new experimental design, and Pink Floyd cornered the entire world's supply at the time. All in all, the tour required 700 tons of steel carried by 53 articulated trucks, a crew of 161 people and an initial investment of US$ 4 million plus US$ 25 million of running costs just to stage. This tour played to 5.5 million people in 68 cities; each concert gathered an average audience of more then 45,000. In summary, it is the most elaborate live tour project of all times to date. The planning alone took 3 years. The tour (not the planning) was sponsored by Volkswagen.

Hi Silas, I would start The Who journey with the album Who's Next, then awho Are You, followed by Tommy, then Quadraphenia. For Sabbath I would start with Paranoid, then Black Sabbath, then Master of Reality, then Black Sabbath Vol 4. The order of The Who albums helpd to get to know the band before getting into the more Avant Guard music like Quadraphenia. I would also advise still hitting some songs by Deep Purple on the way too like Lazy, Highway Star etc

  • @visionproductionsnz7828

The Who discography covers a broad spectrum of time but the classic lineup of course had Keith Moon on drums and John Entwistle on bass so after 1978 there are various other drummers, all of whom were excellent but nobody else can be Moon. Who's Next is critically regarded as their best - it is an album of songs all of which could be regarded as possible singles. I struggle to pick out any track from the rest but as an anthem "Won't Get Fooled Again" hits the spot. Personally I like best Quadrophenia, very, very strong material for a "double album" especially Sides 1 and 2 plus "Love Reign O'er Me" - take you pick, I know you won't be disappointed with the big, muscular sound of this member of the rock trio of the seventies - Stones, Zeppelin and Who.

The upper lights were not pigs during the entire concert...oh, you never mentioned it so did you notice there are two drummers during the concert? The one guy sitting in the white shirt is Nick Mason, an original band member

The Who were one the greatest bands live, so go for their live performances if you can. Here are two, First "Young Man's Blues" recorded in 1970 at the Isle of Wight concert, 2am in a field and they just rocked it (and I was there), then from Woodstock "See me Feel me" & "Listening to You", two great tracks that they always ran into each other. The Who were also one of the loudest bands ever (clocked at 126Db, unofficially beaten by Motorhead, Kiss and a couple of others but still damn loud!) so whatever you do, TURN THE VOLUME UP. First track: czcams.com/video/M9boFzhUVG4/video.html,
    Second track czcams.com/video/fHTdrPL22-Y/video.html.
Both worth watching even if just for Roger Daltrey's killer jacket!

The Who are like several bands made up of just 4 members (although they later added a keyboard player and then an entire orchestra): Roger Daltrey the vocalist has a very versatile voice and almost acts out the stories of the songs, Pete Townshend wrote most of the songs and plays rhythm guitar with lots of advanced chords and frequent runs, John Entwhistle was an outstanding bass guitar player and Keith Moon played drums like nobody else. This allowed them to gain a reputation as one of the craziest live bands of the late 60's and early 70's. The footage from the Monterey Pop Festival 1967 or Woodstock 1969 czcams.com/video/fFCZ49drEh8/video.html will give you some idea. However Pete Townshend was also known as the thinking man of rock and the two rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia have very involved lyrics; you really need to decipher the story to fully appreciate the songs ... I hope you find the time and make the effort to do so 👍
