There is no greater joy than playing jazz with musicians who are great listeners.
Amen
Who could sit listening to Clark and Louie and not be awe struck and silenced by their mastery?
A Dynamic Duo - their music will never end....
Two of the all-time greatest grand masters! Beautiful men, giants of jazz!
why we are here to make it last.
I wish I had a teacher like Clark. His videos are not just enough.
All you aspiring drummers out there working out your double bass drum rolls ... open up your ears and listen to what the master louis bellson is saying. The world needs more drummers with such a clear perspective on musical role that this drummer has.
Nothing like playing with a great, great player. A privilege. Someone a few levels above you say, one-off jam. But your ears and chops are just good enough for you to hang in there, and maybe even get a nod of appreciation when it’s all over 😅
I love these guys!
R.I.P Clark Terry
Right on spot!
I'll use this video to educate some musicians if I have to play with unknown ppl. And after the gig depending on the results I'll give them the video. No other words needed ...
Two Giant's Of Jazz that Passed Away Too Early. R. I. P Louie Bellson And Clark Terry.
Louie Bellson !

7:05 "A certain amount of empathy..." 😁👍❤️
I really loved the portion @ approx 6 minutes when Clark and Louie tell ya how it's not supposed to be done. Far, far too many drummers now days consider control of a drum kit to be how loud and fast they can play. They'll play a break, and the only saving grace is that it starts and ends on the proper count, showing no regard at all for either the audience listening or their fellow musicians. I've been playing since 1959, and today class and finesse are things of the past.
WE WANT MORE! :)
MASTERS !
Clark Terry - one of my heros!
I love you Clark.
Richard John We all love Clark. He was the Dali Lhama of Jazz.
+Jazz Video
The music "floats" on the percussion. When the foundation is there, the melody can do wild, romantic things we call music.
Thanks for a great vide again JazzvideoGuy!
Do you have more from this master class..?
I don't feel Louie got the acclaim he deserved. Wonderful drummer.
mano a mano yes,he did!!!
Mano a Mano Louie's a NEA Jazz Master Of Course he's getting his Due he's a Great Drummer
That's good wisdom.
I wish there was a book or site with CT's phrases transcribed. If anyone knows of one, post it here please.
Who would be frowning or talking in the presence of a performing Clark Terry?
Wish I did.
They way Louie talks about soloing, you'd think he's indifferent to it because he's not good at it. Then you watch some videos on here and shit a brick house
@chingading ... RIGHT?
I watched Freddie Hubbard fire a drummer one night over the issue of not playing appropriately.
picky....picky....picky
