Mark directions on them with a sharpie before taking them out, so you can orient the replacement without guessing. Use an arrow, or the word Front, or whatever makes sense to you
Thank you for video on changing door lock relays. Due to my best efforts to avoid another expensive break-in, I’m considering eliminating the door lock cylinders wherein I would rely exclusively upon keyless entry using the key fob. My 1999 F-250 SD 7.3 PSD 2-door Super Cab has an intermittent failure of the key fob to unlock/lock. It works great most of the time, except when you’re actually depending on it. When it doesn’t want to work, you can just forget about it. If not working, starting and a short drive will typically cure the issue for a good while, until it knows you’re desperately depending on it! I’ve changed key fob’s batteries with no change. Hopefully changing one or both of the power door lock relays as per your excellent video tutorial may resolve the problem. Any further insight as to the likely cause indicated by these intermittent failure symptoms will be greatly appreciated. I’d like to tote ice chests in the back without having my groceries and personal items stolen or watching my truck disappear. Any security suggestions would be especially appreciated. …So grateful to be a subscriber. Thank you - Chris
I think it is worthwhile to say that this is the problem if all the locks fail all at once rather than individual locks failing. Also, like a starter it all the locks fail but the work one last time before permanent fail.
Good info! I sent my instrument cluster out to Circuit Board Medics for the intermittent radio and power window outages. I figure I should look into the power door locks while I'm at it. I would MUCH prefer going under the dash than taking the doors apart! My dash is looking pretty sparse now anyway.
Stupid question Would this keep the door locks from functioning and also cause problems with the ficm not allowing power to injectors to start. My remote door locks stopped functioning and my truck will not start now all in same day
What are symptoms of this being bad? Turned out my truck didn't have these mine was a cracked wire and bad actuaters, my dually crew cab has the remote locks and has the., both are 01 f350s alts but one is a super cab single rear wheel without remote locks, updating incase this could help someone
Do these relays have anything to do with my running board lights and dome lights staying on? And door ajar light? All my locks work but occasionally lights stay on
Does not exist in my 1999 F350 7.3 XLT. The only relays I have are the parking lamp relays. And it’s cover box is much smaller than the one you pulled with air slits on one side. Still looking for the reason why my auto locks always lock and never unlock. Replaced DS actuator. Problem persists. I wish there was a bad relay I could replace lol. Btw I took the dash off just to confirm that I don’t have that relay box you are illustrating lol
@@kalebchesser8933 So my truck didn’t come with relays if I remember correctly. However I replaced the door lock actuators on both the front doors. That didn’t fix it. It turned out that the door lock switch on the drivers door was bad. Bought an OEM switch and haven’t had an issue since.
@@kalebchesser8933 was having the same troubles 99.5 F350 xlt with the door looks and does not have the relays like shown here. Took the door lock switch apart then user some 320 grit sand paper to clean the contacts inside the switch. One of the contacts did have a really pebble of metal from the arcing. It is working for now.
someone added a door lock and car starter to the truck it doesn't work, I locked mine has nothing where you show the relays does that mean they removed the whole box? truck is an 01 f350 extended cab 7.3
Ok my door locks automatically lock at random when driving the truck or just when I try to start my truck the locks lock and the antithieft device won’t let me start my truck. What is the problem
They can be intermittent so your locks will work sometimes and not others. But more often than not they just go out. An easy way to tell is if you hit your lock and unlock button you should hear an audible click down there from the relays
Currently mine will intermittently not work but it will work every other time just about. Plus you'll have issues with the key fob as well not unlocking your doors.
Under the steering wheel on the left side. You will need to remove all the paneling and screws. I would use a long pair of needlenose pliers instead of beating up your hand to pull out the relays

Hello, did you replace both relays?
Also you can hear my door locks making noise but no locking..was that the same for you? Thanks
Thanks for the Heads-up, & informative Video ! 👍😊
Cheers ✌️🤙🇨🇦
Right to the point. Great video
Could a relay cause the locks to lock and unlock constantly while driving or would that be the back?
Stupid question
Would this keep the door locks from functioning and also cause problems with the ficm not allowing power to injectors to start.
My remote door locks stopped functioning and my truck will not start now all in same day
Think this applies to the E350 Vans? Thanks
Thank you much
The first 2 relays you were talking about, are they both for the door locks? Or just the first 1?
Thanks Again For Sharing
Thanks for the vid I know it’s old but where can I find them on an 02 ford excursion. Have my entire dash ripped out lol
Thanks, good info.

mine was a shorted ground at the dome light under the headliner. 2006 6.0

I swear my 05 lariat doesn’t have the relays… I can’t find them under the dash
I don’t have these relays in my 03 f 250. Were you able to find the location of your relays?
