So this is the Sony Bravia Theater Quad, and this is a very interesting Home theater set up cause you have these 4 individual speakers that are fairly compact, and they give you the flexibility to place them anywhere in your home theater set up, and they offer you a very impressive surround sound experience. And this is actually Sonyâs second attempt at making a system like this one.
Now overall, I do feel that this system is very impressive given its size and the amount of flexibility that you have regarding where you can place these four speakers. So in this video weâre going to checkout the Bravia Quad by itself, weâre also going to use it with an optional subwoofer, in this case the Sony SW5, and weâre also going to see how it compares to using one of Sonyâs premium surround sound systems consisting of the Sony HT-A5000, the Sony SW5 subwoofer, and the Sony RS5 rear satellite speakers. And weâre also going to be using the Sony X90L TV today so that we can take advantage of Acoustic Center Sync.

Thanks for the review but when you have the speakers no wider than a soundbar, you are really missing the benefits of how this system performs. If you can't place the speakers any wider than a soundbar, then personally go for a soundbar. The quads work miles better when you have them at a larger distance to create a bigger sound stage and envelope the room.
Have the same system - that so true about spacing them appropriately
I have the HT-A9, same here. That's the whole point to the HT-A9 and HT-A9M2(quad) systems.

Thanks for the review! I've watched a few of these and I notice you are the only reviewer who has explicitly stated that this unit supports Chromecast (built-in) 5:25 -- can you confirm that with certainty? It does support Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay, but Sony seem to have removed the Chromecast built-in which was there in the previous gen (HT A9)
Chromecast was dropped.:( I have it on the HT-A9 though.
Sadly no chrome cast on the quad
Wow. This is really cool. We have a Vizio v series 2.1 soundbar in our living room. It sounds really good. What soundbar sound you recommend for loudness?
Nakamichi Dragon.
@@LukeR1Mis that a soundbar or is it a stereo?
Purchase the new Sony asap! Like and subscribe
I have the Samsung Q990B and it sounds great but will be upgrading to the Nakamichi Dragon...that thing is a beast!
very informative thanks
Might worth picking up the a9?
Hey Gymcaddy. Could you review the Sony Bravia theatre 8 and 9 please. Thanks
Hey, can you review the new Bose Soundlink max?
Yes. Thanks for watching
for that price. should come with 2 subwoofers âŠâŠ
Does it have Chromecast?
Hey what about ult wear when is it coming
How is the experience between HT-A9 and Quad setup without SW5? Does Quad give out more BASS than HT-A9?
wish I could say, but I dont have the originals in the studio
Can you review jbl 2.1 deep bass soundbar?
for the price the SW5 sub should be included...thanx for the video
How does it compare to the Ult tower 10 though?
Speakers such as JBL Party Box Ultimate and Sony Tower 10 are party speakers with high power, Sony Tower 10 will definitely be the winner in loudness and bass compared to other home theaters, but the problem of party speakers is that the sound They have mono and this makes them significantly different from home theaters in terms of sound and soundstage. Sony's home theater will definitely be the undisputed winner in terms of sound quality and soundstage compared to Sony Tower 10, but Sony Tower 10 will definitely have stronger bass and louder sound
A5000 sounds so optimised for human hearing and sounds more Sony like. I'd get tired using the Quad for a day. It feels too all that punchy and robot like
Thank you Friend Really Appreciated. Kind Regards from Mark UK
Actually, the quads subwoofers won't deactivate, that was only in prior generation.
Yeah.. You didn't get the full effect by having them that close.
There is no center channelđ
That is nice đ

Kament achchha hain.
Great video! It is too bad that the bass is deactivated when adding an external subwoofer. It would be great to have more balanced bass and overall bass when needed. Secondly too bad you can't combine a soundbar (as centre speaker) with the Quad. You would expect this could be combined using the app? Lastly, is switching HDMI cables not annoying if you use blu-ray player and a Nintendo Switch for example. There is only one HDMI port, or could you attach a HDMI splitter?
If you connect your Switch and Blu-Ray Player directly to HDMI ports on the TV, you only need to connect the HDMI eARC output between the TV and the Quad system and the TV will switch sources and pass the audio through from the TV to the Quad. Sony TVs can passthrough DTS:X and Dolby Atmos through their HDMI ports to the Quad via eARC (I've tested it). Other TVs should be able to passthrough lossless audio as well, as long as they have an eARC HDMI port.
The price is a little too high for me plus Sony has terrible aftersales. Sounds good though but not 2.600 dollar/euro goodđ
$3200 with the subwoofer is a steal. But now and pay later. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and insights.
Yeah, Nakamichi Dragon is much better and pretty much the same price. Sony products are never worth their price imo.
IMO Jbl tooâ@@LukeR1M
â@@LukeR1MI disagree
I think your really overselling the base of the theater quad. It has almost zero bass in my opinion. A sub is mandatory with this system.
I have the HT-A9 with sw5. Same situation, sadly.
looks like junk made for those junk 4k discs that only have cheap near field garbage trash mixes in atmos
Like anything from Sony. They are pretty much number one trash producers, especially when it comes to speakers đ
Sony hater.... May be you know a lot than japanese engineers... đđđmy GOD
â@@RobertV6may be you have a lot of products from SONY. SONY' S Ingeneers are so worry because your comment.... đ€Ą
Sony makes top tier tech products. You should be hallucinating if u donât buy now.
i bought ht a9 and sold it 2nd hand. it wasnt good for music.some reviewers like Andrew Robinson overrated the product.a9 was ok for movies.thats all
Horrible sound quality and very difficult to manage speakers unless you wall mount or floor stand. The 360 sound envelope feels artificial and incapable. I steel feel my Bose lifestyle 650 is the best speaker to date. I am stuck with this sony quad system feels like I wasted my money.
