The Black Experience Japan love what you guys are doing. Totally inspired!!! ❤️
I'm French girl but you have black French people live in toko why do. You don't interview this people to have their opinions about Japon
This guy is so fascinating to listen to, great interview.
Henry is one of the most genuine people you ever want to meet and I'm glad to call him my friend.
I can see why he was accepted in Harvard. I can relate to him I remember working my ass off when I was younger as I wanted to get in to Oxford University. I managed to get in luckily but it was because of the teachers and mentors who helped me to get in. I come from a poor background and a refugee of all things. I met a young lawyer who graduated in Oxford and I saw how great his life was. So I said to myself if I go to Oxford I can make it out this place so I worked my ass off and worked the system to get in. If you work hard anything is possible.
Job well done man. Congrats!
Wow Henry is a notable orator, could listen to him for hours on end.
My cousin, a middle-aged, retired general, applied to law school and got in. At the first meet & greet reception for new law students an Anglo woman he didn't know walked up to him and said his name. He smiled holding out his hand and said "Yes?" She slapped him hard across his face. Then she said loudly, "Because of you and that affirmative action my husband was denied." Then she walked quickly out the door. My cousin said the room was immobile with shock until the dean of law came over and apologized. My cousin was one of 2 black students of the large. white, freshman class accepted that year. Although deeply embarrassed he remained determined. He graduated with honors, -proving his capability to everyone in that room who thought as that lady did; who saw him as a "colored-man" given special privileges among numbers devoutly favoring a white majority. He, like the man in this video proved that what the mind conceives, the body and soul can achieve as long as there is a dedication to purpose . And, YES, achieving your purpose often requires, particularly for minorities, the help of an intelligent, sane, understanding majority.
Props to your cousin. Sometimes it is unbelievable people are so entitled as to slap a senior officer who has served your country in the middle of a reception.
Henry is one of a kind. I can listen to him 24/7. Japan is lucky to have him.
This guy is one of the most genuine person I have watched a video off.He is so open and sincere at talking about his life, experiences, emotions. Love his first interview and loving this one even more.Kudos to you Mr Henry Seals
Inspiring narrative! Extraordinary testimony to the truth that words have power. At 8yrs old he spoke it into existence he was going to Harvard.
oh he's back and imma watch this later after i wake up
so after i woke up i finally watched the video and once again Henry got me back on my grind and i decided to keep chasing my dreams and shouldn't worry about the negative things people say but instead search for people who will be able to help in my journey in my life.
Same omg I hope you keep pushing
Exactly. I am not black but many of the videos in this channel are inspirational af , and ideal to watch when you are having those "down" days. Keep chasing your dreams, the journey is definitely worth it! And as the lady who is a lawyer in Okinawa (if you havent watched yet, please do, it is one of the most enjoyable videos in the channel) said always keep positive people who believe in you around you.
Oh wow. I'm happy to see another session with this accomplished gentleman!
Henry needs to start his own CZcams channel. Even if he did live broadcasts now a then just a few videos. Set up Instagram or facebook. He has so much knowledge that would be so valuable to her viewers.
He has one. Check the video description.
Ranzo! Please give Henry my regards, he's honestly the type of man I'd like to become in the future.
I remember I was feeling down a few years ago and Henry was there for me and helped me stay afloat metally. Thank you again, Henry.
This gentleman is so talented and knowledgeable. I wish I had a mentor like him. Or, even just a friend. Such a cool dude
This is a very inspiring piece, good video 👍
Your right I just a listen all day
If you're listening intently, take notes for your younger children. He's dropping gems.
Henry Moreland Seals is so enthralling and his wisdom is so captivating. I love this guy. I could listen to him all day long.
Half way through this video, and I must say, this guy is very charismatic. Wonderful speaker.
Thank you Henry. You are an asset to Japan and the world.
Yeay! Another interview with the awesome guy. I wish he was my uncle. I wonder if he's ever done a TED talk because more people need to hear what he has to say. Of course, I googled that and no he hasn't yet. But I did find that he headed up Black Lives Matters Tokyo to express solidarity with brown folks enduring police brutality in the US, that's a truly stand-up guy!
Mr. Seals is so inspiring to me! That part about not letting the world beat you down is so relevant right now. Additionally, I really needed to hear that part about 'don't change the core of who you are'. Thank you for doing a part two!
As a Nigerian, i am happy he felt at home in Nigeria. For a Black person, the energy in Nigeria is very welcoming and accepting.
This is an awesome interview!
Should I visit?
It is not by accident, he gave it his all. Lesson: You can do what ever you want to do if you truly put your mind to it. Have trusted people around you who will always build you up. Word! I am inspired by this brother. Awesome vlog once again.
top guy ... he's done really well and very level headed.
I love this guy. He is such an asset to humanity. This should be mandatory viewing for everyone.
I always admire people who knew what their goals was since almost the beginning. I am the kind of person who will be always wondering "what I want to be when I grow older", and thus it is someth characteristic I always admired.
Awesome interview, not only for people interesting in going to Japan, but in a general sense! Thanks Henry, also thanks for putting it in full Ranzo! :D
Damn, I absolutely loved the two episodes you did with Henry - he has so much insight to give on so many things, he's incredibly articulate about it all it makes it really relatable. Really hope to see him back again in the future.
Sometimes I wonder how you find all these great people to talk to and highlight in your series, it's really that good. Thank you for the good work Ranzo!
This is how it feels to be smart when you're always hesitant and don't feel smart. I need this mans' confidence in my life.
I believe I had your daughter in my high school class. I remember her speech. Before that, I remember in the first year. She said her father graduated from Harvard and which state you were from. I know her speech. She was very interesting. If so, give her my best!
Glad to see this Japanese citizen again. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Kids are awesome!!!
MFiles: thank you for this timely, pertinent content-filled interview. Invaluable insight!
The two videos were so easy to listen to. Seals is a gifted communicator and pretty motivating. As a black man in Japan, I think I'm better able to navigate my journey here and build bridges, thanks to his stories and wisdom nuggets!
I could listen to this man speak all day...so much knowledge and experience just flows from his voice and expression...
Can you do a taping of his experience in Nigeria? Also, let him speak about his experience of feeling like he was "home". This would be an interesting interview.
This message couldn't have been more perfectly timed as I'm sitting here fixing my C.V. Thank You Mr. Seals. I hope to shake your hand one day when I get to Japan. 😊
This interview is excellent on multiple levels! There's the back story but the recruitment and hiring insight stands out. This is information that I feel applies any where in the world. Getting a job is getting a job regardless of the country, humans are looking for the same thing when hiring and evaluating the same way.
Oh snap! Another interview with Henry? Listening during my commute :)
This interview is even better than the first (if that's possible)! More insight into this man's experiences in Japan along with his growth as a human being is very inspiring. Thanks again for the most interesting and intriguing speaker.
When he mentioned dancehall culture and Japan, it's soo true, like Mighty Crown and I saw a vid or a mini doc on Japanese Soca sub culture and it was hype! We can talk about Hip hop! Like probably every major rapper in the 1990's and early 2000's and many beyond have routinely done tours in Japan. I'm in awe though, they latch on to stuff and do it well and it becomes a Japanese thing. I wish the U.S. had even half of that energy because there's so much to improve upon here.
So glad there was a part two. Really enjoying this interview.
I got teary eyed during the twenty minute mark. He was truly amazing to listen to.
I kept going back to different parts of this interview to hear again what he was saying.
Please keep doing more of these interviews. I am learning and enjoying them a lot.
This was incredibly deep and personal. I've followed this channel for a while, but somehow I just now came across this video. First of all, thank you for creating this channel and sharing this content. I always want to live in Japan because I grew fascinated by the Japanese culture and simply my love for Japanese cars. I took Japanese language classes in college because I thought that I would one day live there. Now, fast-forward more than 15 years later, and I doubt that I'll ever live there as I'm now married with kids and I'm focused on raising my children with my wife, I would still love to live overseas. However, it may be somewhere different. Perhaps Nepal, where my wife is from, UK, or India. Despite most likely not ever being able to live in Japan, this channel is still very relevant to me because I feel like this is really the American Black Experience. I can relate to so many things that you're interviewees have described just from my own experiences living across the U.S.A.
Anyways, I just want you to know that this is an incredible service to document these experiences and I thank you for sharing this with us all. It really makes me think about my own journey in life and it's comforting to know that the experiences that I have are also shared by others, despite the fact that the is different. Wonderful channel, keep it up!
This is a great example of why it is important to embrace a culture you live in, be part of the process not against it or find excuses not to belong. Been a positive role model is very important and this one way of sifting through and view to make the world a better place for everyone. Keep up the good work and stay awesome. My comment is based on both parts of the interview you have to watch both.
This man is speaking some real honesty.
Thank you for doing these interviews! Henry provided a LOT of valuable & inspirational insights!! 💙
Hats off to Ranzo. He interviews the most fascinating people. Keep up the good work!!!!
I really enjoyed this interview. It is inspirational and informative. If you want it, you have to set your mind to it and pursue it. You can achieve it. I was recruited by Harvard and UC Berkeley. My grades were good, I graduated HS at 16 yrs old. I chose Berkeley because I had never been far away from home. I do not regret the decision. Thank you for being frank and open with the audience. Tina in Cali.
Heres to a part 3 👍🏾
Edit: I realized after that a lot of this is just good general life advice.
Probably the best interview I've seen in the series so far. Great interview
This is my favorite interview on the channel. Well spoken and thought out. He's definitely a inspiration if he knows it or not
That was a very instructive interview!! Keep up the good job!!
He's so inspiring. Great speaker. He'd make a great person to want as a life time friend. I love listening to him.
Very informative interview. I liked his story. I’m inspired.. thanks!
Hey Ranzo, really enjoying this long format. Not that it's necessary for every interview, but really good content. Cheers.
I could listen to this guy talk forever he's so engaging
Thanks for sharing... this is a very good interview.
Wow what an incredible story! It’s wonderful he wants to have a relationship with his children from his first marriage that’s something that I wish parents would think about if they divorce. You don’t hear that often & it shows his heart to be there for his kids. Congrats Henry on being a Japanese citizen!
God bless you & your family & His protection over you all!
Thanks for these interviews. I've Subsribed to your channel as well as Henry's. I could listen to him talk all day :)
I love this! Super inspiring!
I love his honesty!!!
I really like videos with Henry.
What a Blessed Soul and a inspiration!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this interview. I watch the other video a while back where he became a citizen. This was so engaging and nice to hear history. I especially like the advice on promoting oneself based on one skill, not necessarily what one wants to do. Now I need to figure out what I'm really good at?...
So interesting and his voice is relaxing too
“You’re at your prettiest when your in your zone”
Wow such an amazing person to meet. Sir you just became an inspiration to me. (From Angola-Africa)
I have to go home but I can't stop listening to this guy.. Balanced that's how I would describe him..
So you mean his mom didn't pay his way into Harvard?!?
Excellence! Thanks BEJ.
I like Henry. Another insightful video. Thank you, Ranzo😊
Great interview. I can tell that you'd be a great mentor.
My favorite video thus far.
Just finding your channel bro. Thanks for the content.
Henry Henry an inspiring story ... lots of interesting facts to note. 2021...
Love loved this. I’m ready to move today.
Thank you for all you do.
this guys vids are my favourite BEJ episodes
another good one 👍
Excellent interview. Young people need direction and Mr. Seals does a great job of it. Good to see successful peoples of African descent outside of the pit that is the USA.
He spoke it and he get into harvard. I've been speaking about this specific company that I would like to work for and i will get it!!
INSPIRATIONAL!
Great highlight
Thank You !
Please put your interviews in a podcast. Accessibility in other media would be great
Thank you for being...... YOU !! You trusted that life would treat you well. And it did .
Great job
Thanks!
thanks The Black Experience Japan I love that
Who what a life hes lived this is amazing
It’s funny to hear him talk about Kirby I always felt the same way, also Brian Micheal bendis is similar in that way, not Afraid to explore new ideas
It's so wonderful in Korea you have so much help to move and everyone arrives on time! Congratulations again you guys! We can't wait for the big reveal!
I worked for panasonic in secaucus new jersey (mashasita i think) the time i was there they first came out with a 103" plasma tv, i forgot but there were tons of fans in the back of tv. Not many folks had that tv i think one was bill gates in his seattle home. I worked in the corporate space planner. I left them for MERCK pharmaceutical. As plant space manager/ facilities space planner at Rahway/linden. Hell i made 6 figures straight out of architecture school NYIT columbus circle. I worked all 4 years of getting my BARC. I worked all my college years doing institutional construction space planning at Rockefeller University. It was hellish 4 years of my life! I had to work full time, schooling had to retain B average to qualify for tuition reimbursement so worked my ass off at work 40 hours/week, then maintain 12 credits to be matriculated and maintain a B grade. Its a horrible life!!
Wow. really good.
I'm an asian female and I find his talk so inspiring
Thanks for this interview, I wanted to apply for a 2+2 masters program class of 2020 but people's words made me give up. I had applied to Harvard before but because I lacked so many things in my application, I got rejected. Now here I was trying to apply for Masters because I didn't get to go for my undergraduate.
But this video has helped me to reassure myself again that I can get in, I just need to prepare for the application. My biggest weakness is my fear I won't be accepted because I am Kenyan and it really affected my esteem. Hopefully I can apply for class of 2022 because I already missed the chance for class of 2020 and 2021. I would sincerely appreciate any extra advice and if there is a way we can get in touch with him.
Sylvia S. Hi Sylvia, check the video description for ways to get in touch.
He gave excellent advice. I'm a big believer in building relationships. Still working on it though. lol
1:30:20 was something that surprisingly struck me
Shout out from Toronto...just curious as to your opinion on Canada as opposed to the USA. I was born and raised in Toronto, of West Indian decent, love Canada and really don’t like the USA.
I am an extensive, international traveller and seriously considering Japan as a destination for a few years to teach English and learn Japanese.
Really appreciate this amazing video, extremely informative, real and very positive.
Will definitely reach out to you once I am in Japan,
Respect.
Damn that far
This was Awesome!!! Really…. But is this about Harvard or Japan…..do they teach staying on subject matter at Harvard??? ….. I still loved it
Very cool
Please Explain The Process For The Mext Scholarship Sensei. I will give them a call tonight
