"I can't loot!" welcome to controller
Fr bro 😭
You go to revive teammate…but open door instead and die 😂
this can't be practiced?
Nope it cant @@Kino-yy8ou
@@XMe5 okay haha
Damn roller players really don’t wanna try and anything
I’ve played thousands of hours on both and controller does one single thing better and that’s close range engagements. If you maximize your potential on MandK it’s better in every way basically
Im lefthanded
The R99 nerf probably ruined how controller players can 1 clip easily now
@@maddenplaya2097idk it feels good again after this seasons split
@@maddenplaya2097 it didnt the volt is a thing
Apex pro scene proved otherwise. Controller is 100% better if you put in the same hour as MnK
bro is literally in the clinic, next to gigantic healing platform and goes:"I NEED A HEAL!!!!!"
Punches mid fight will be the biggest enemy 😂😂😂
Omg I just lost a 1v1 because of this lol
Gotta switch to button puncher. Especially if you have paddles/back buttons
Fr, this gets me killed so many times
Just put punch as right on the dpad. Easier to do with your right thunb
@@BigDC9708yea that’s what I did until my bumper went out, now that’s on my paddle. I’m back to punching randomly 😂
As someone without a modified control who is rubbish with claw, I feel there will always be a ceiling on my skill level. Good luck in your quest
Turns out they are Xbox and pc only and I can’t edit my reply…
As always, love your content.
I do wonder which changes you've made to your settings. Been using my elite controller for some time. Didn't change too much really 😅
"i played with a controller as a kid, sooo, i know what controller is!!!" :D idk, i love this line, somehow funny. Hah, I finally got to see this, I needed to sleep after I first commented. 😅
It's a different style of play. I have used both inputs but now that I'm older "my mid 30s" I find the controller easier on my hands/fatigue but I was able to hold a 1.75kd on both
I will be here for every episode of the series. Looking forward to this!
Controller gives advantage over close and/or midrange combat, you can see people even with terrible movement can beam you down. Equip that with actually experienced players, that makes it stronger. Adding on top of that where people use configs to allow them to move while looting or quickly loot.
Having bad movement does not mean the player is inexperienced and the controller just does the work.. I’ve been playing since season 1 and my movement isn’t the best but I’m consistently plat and high diamond on both console and pc
I just want to say you are the best apex content creator ever. You constantly come up with great ideas and make this game feeling fresh without focusing on the new content when there is finally new stuff. On top of all that you can play this game without raging or losing composure which I find impossible with how frustrating this game can be in every aspect... Even in the development sense like with the current event.
Also try using the tall stick for your aiming. Larger lever for finer aiming. I have been using tall stick on the right for a couple years and LOVE it. I was having problems where I was just BARELY missing people on my tracking and the taller stick gave me that extra fine aiming I needed.
No, there's a reason pros don't use things like kontrolfreeks, you can certainly be really good on it especially if you have big hands but it worsens your close range aim
@@Skelyboss you probably base everything off what pros do😂, people become there best by finding there own way to do things even if it means trying out long sticks or kontrol freaks
Kontrol freeks don't work well with linear but they are good.
@@Skelyboss so that's why I'm really bad in console lobbies 😭😭
That’s a placebo but if it works for you it works 🤷🏽♂️
I recently just switched from mnk to controller with about 2.4k hours alone on apex and years of experience on other games on mnk. I will never switch back, the aim is better, it feels better, it’s less mentally tasking, it’s just more fun. Looting sucks and long range sucks but that’s really just the trade off. You also can’t particularly do movement since config tap strafing is now banned but in most scenarios tap strafing is not saving you vs a player with good aim
I'm a console player but i've used a little mnk before, ive found roller is ofc way better for close range but recoil control mid range is so much easier on mnk
I’ve been playing controller all my life and especially for apex I’ve got some crazy binds such as Lb for jump and Rb for crouch. I find that helps loads! 🔥💪🏻
I would recommend changing your right bumper to pick up and right stick to switch weapon it’s really helpful and you could put jump and slide on your back paddles this helped me to do everything | and another helpful tip I would recommend is changing your controller settings in you Xbox accessories app to find the settings that make you best 😊
I used a drawing tablet as a mouse input to play Apex and Valorant for about a year... kinda weird in the beginning, but I was consistently better after some weeks, it is natural and efortless for me, but the input lag ranges from complete poop to bad in all the tablet I tried.
I sometimes try new tablets, but I'm still waiting for a tablet with minor input lag to change permanently to it, so I'm almost always using a mouse to play for now :)
Gaming Merchant, as a fairly avid follower, I believe you will definitely give a more honest and fair review of going from mnk to controller for a little. I look forward to seeing your progress for this month
Tall concave stick on the right. Anything on the left. I just switched to PC from a lifetime career on Xbox haha. It’s a huge change but I love it
bottom right paddle i use for healing, bottom left paddle i use for swapping/holstering weapons. top left slide, top right jump. im also an mnk player so if you see this, try that layout. hope it helps brotha
As a console player adjusting my dead zones helped, but adjusting my look sensitivity (5)and aim sensitivities(4) helped me to be more smooth with my movement. Menu curser speed helps with looting speeds too (mine is at 1/3 of the bar)z
Personally I use ALC, I practice in firing range without aim assist on just to fine tune my tracking. After that I turn on aim assist and I’m just an absolute beam.
For real, no aim assist on the firing range helps me stay centered on target. Kinda like waking up my aim.
What changes did you make after the ones you showed us? Thanks in advance! Love the vids :)
What stick tension are you using in right joystick? I also use a elite series 2
If you roughly convert 4-3 linear in ALC but the response curve 3 it’s x1000 better. Allows you to have that linear feel but more control. Coming from a semi pro/multi pred
I think a really cool video would be you and Ashton both switch game inputs so you are on controller and he's on kbm(just an idea)
You should watch Gent and how he jump shield swaps on roller. Lol
You can have about equal movement on controller and MnK. The only thing that really seperates them are tap strafes. Everything else that doesnt require a digital input(MnK uses digital inputs which allows for tap strafes) or a config are possible on an analog input(controller uses analog inputs which do not allow tap strafes) so anything from fatigue wallbounces, to mantle jumps can be performed on controller. So in my opinion as a controller player, it is easier to learn and use movement on Mnk than controller, but they can both do similar things and in no way is either better, they are simply different.
Movement would get you nowhere against a good/equally skilled player, at the end of the day Apex remains a SHOOTER game. You're more likely to break "the ankles" of MnK moreso than Controller player who can still track your tap strafes. Faide is one of the best who actually utilizes movement to dodge and play his life (unlike most posers who only do it for style while getting pooped on and it doesn't make sense) and still get dogged in Ranked quite often.
As for movement on controller, i agree, sadly most are fully satisfied with running in a straight line and just shoving and 1 clipping people. They don't want to learn recoil, they don't want to learn movement they just want to crutch AA.
At the end of the day, as many pointed out, if AA wasn't overtuned bullcrap, people wouldn't switch to it. MnK, even after 5000h of aim training, would NEVER offer your the consistency AA would while doing the bare minimum. I started Apex very late (around the end of S9 i believe) and still my lobbies mostly consisted MnK players, in recent seasons you hardly see MnK players anymore - pubs, ranked, mixtape, LTMs you name it. And oddly, in S20 there is a MASSIVE spike of Console twiddle fingers in our lobbies with .6 AA so yeah, if we didnt have to deal with enough Auto-aim players already, now we have even more overtuned AA.
You do realise that tap strafes are a massive part of chaining movements together, making controller far worse for movement. It's like watching Ex without his macros
I completely disagree. Tap strafe elevates every other movement tech. higher skill movement techniques are considerably more consistent on MnK (mantle jumps and such). Not to mention moving in DB’s.
@@scotty_teee4226this guy gets it. If you wanna be schmoovey then MnK is name brand. Tap Strafe elevates every tech to a skill level without a ceiling.
Will you give an overview of your controller settings at the end, or in between? Both in-game and what you have changed on the controller itself?
His already established game sense and years of playing apex every day will do 70% of the work believe it or not
Oh I'm here for this
"Welcome to the party pal"
My kids (19 and 16) switch between mk and roller. It's scary how good they are on MK (mouse is a $10 one and they use a laptop Keyboard) . Same account so not like the lobbies are different for them. I've tried using a very under powered laptop as well with MK and it was night and day difference for me as well. I did much better. The only issues I had was my old hands couldn't play as well with MK for any duration of time, same with my kids, they stop after 2 hours on MK but can play for 4-5 with roller (but again much worst stats (kills, damage per match and session). 16 yr old got a new mouse and Keyboard and now it's really scary after a few hours of play to get use to the new desk footprint.Once she gets a monitor, I won't be able to play with her as she'll roll lobbies I am in with her. (no kills for dear ol' dad :( )
Welcome to not grabbing loot before an enemy you got dropped beside
best bind is verhulst its simple and easy to learn, and dont use tall stick use the shortest ones on 4-3 linear, and at cqc u dont want to ads too much
7:45 I think I get it now. It didn’t make sense to me before
I recently switched the other way, I like mouse and keyboard way more than controller. I just wished I was as comfortable on mouse and keyboard like I was on controller.
Merchant imo you have an amazing choice in controller. Those Xbox controllers have served me well and feel super premium. If you need any tips on setting one up I can help but I’m sure you and chat are sorted on that.
I know this might seem like a small thing, but I cannot use an Xbox controller to save my life. Something about how the PlayStation style controllers have sticks straight across from each other really clicks with my brain. Plus the sticks feel less high and "loose" to me..
As a controller pred player I recommend the tall stick with the wide short stick. Faster movement better aim tracking as well. And if you have the right ALCs the aim assist is broken with it.
Could you share your ALC settings?
I swapped to controller ages ago, fights are a lot more consistent for me, I recommend getting a PS5 controller or something like the FlyDigi Apex 4, as they have way better input delay then the Xbox controller.
hey merchant, i have over 100 days on apex controller and i’ve got a tip, try using zero dead zone for 100% control of the stick, it’ll take a long time too get used too but once you can control it. it’s so much better
He’s playing on 4-3 linear no deadzone I was in his stream for a while
@@iAmConfusion alrrr nice
Hello merch i recommend swapping ping and jump so jump is on rb and swapping melee and crouch so crouch is r3 this way you dont have to move thumbs much to do anything
If you got back buttons or paddles putting reload and gun swap on the back helps alot also
Invest in a hall effect controller. It made all the difference for me. I now run on 4/4/linear with no stick drift and no deadzone. I'm still horrible at the game and hard-stuck at gold1/plat4 but either way...
I swear punching got extremely harder
I recently swapped to 4-3 linear with a small dead zone from ALC. The difference is night and day. I used to run a 2-3% dead zone on ALC but I find running a small deadzone helps to keep my shots straight. I use kontrolfreeks on my right stick to help with micro adjustments.
For those of us who didn't watch the stream, what settings did you change? ie. what do they look like now?
Here's a question to my controller using co-horts in this game. Specifically with the Spitfire, does aim assist remove the recoil from this weapon? Something TGM said about recoil control piqued my interest. I keep getting lasered at range with the spitfire yet it is the only weapon I really have issues controlling recoil at range with mnk. Enquiring mind wants to know.
Run r5 reloaded flowstate aim trainer and put the bots on max speed max shield, then choose what smg and another weapon and run infinite training, popcorn targets and target switching
See you after this journey: Good luck.
I kinda find it unfair that pc players are able to switch between mnk and controller when console players are just stuck with controller. I’ve heard people use the excuse that mnk is just superior over controller and it would ruin the controller lobbies. I think a quick and easy solution to this problem is just selecting what setup you are using in settings and based on what you choose it puts you in lobbies with other players on the same setting. I was commenting on this video so that maybe the Gaming merchant could bring publicity to this problem.
If you be able to make a mentle jump, please let us know how
You know you can super glide on controller too, right?
Mantle jumping is the same thing for MnK and roller, it’s not easy and it takes a lot of practice.
@@CrispyPlaydough It's definitely not easy!
When is the challenge fix coming
Can you drop your controller customization? Please include the app and attachment customization. Thanks
Does anyone have good controller settings alc my setting been feeling sluggish lately
i missed you sir!
It's difficult to hit long range shots and well try reloading or worse reviving behind a door😂
What rank did you end at?
ill go along with you,
rolla time
noooo, don't do it! stay on the bright side!! 😭/j
We've lost another one of the good guys
The very first thing TGM mentions is the biggest thing that these roller vs MNK arguments miss. Almost EVERYONE has grew up playing controller in some shape or form. Why it’s easier to pick up n learn compared to mnk..
That controller may break after 30days. I got an elite 2 controller back the day they came out and it only lasted a couple months of moderate use. After that the shoulder buttons got shotty, stick drift began to show, and the rumble started to deteriorate. Truly a trash controller for $170-180
There was a merchant cs era??
Take your pick of reloading on a door while not opening it, or reloading while playing a down teammates shield.
Ps........you can't do both.
Bump your menu cursor speed up a bit don’t do to much at once or you’ll end up flying past what your trying to select till you get to a point where you can quickly armor switch for example consistently
The difference between mouse and keyboard is the difference between aiming with your hand and aiming with arrow keys. I still think aim assist is too good.
What? Mouse incorporates your whole arm. My thumb is not about to out shoot an arm any further than 50m.
This is where he finds out that aim assist lags behind the target and is easily manipulated simply by walking side to side forcing the game to pull your aim off target. Also some legends get harder to use like Crypto because down is both recall and the thank/welcome/ult ready button so if you need to recall your drone chances are you will just do a different command. So that's fun
Thank you!!!! I been preaching this for months
Aim assist helps you track if you just move your right stick, no one just doesn't move their right stick and let someone strafe outside of the aim assist range
And his main is Rampart. Setting down walls on controller is insanely bad. It will be a fun experience and I'm here for the laughs.
not true, I have exactly the opposite experience, the target magnetism with controller is crazy. instant micro adjustments are crazy
@@DevaDemon8how is it insanely bad ? It’s literally 3 keys, just like mnk…..L1,R2,R2 & you have placed 2 shields 🤣 & then just triangle to swap back to gun? Do u even try
You should really get a scuff now before you get the muscle memory, it will save you tension in the hand and save the L and R 3 buttons
See you on 30 days
I wish I had the dexterity to play MnK 💁🏽♂️, I’ve only ever been a Console player.
the amount of damage he's able to put out with so little experience and just a settings change is crazy. idk how anyone can defend that
Imagine getting copy right struck on the darkness song lol
IT WAS FUN!!!!!!!
so are you not gona use your keebord for 30 days
i play m and k and controller i i find controller with paddles on crouch and jump easy to superglide
Can you screenshot your settings pls
Do you feel like you’re not affected by aim punch and the fights don’t chop at all as compared to M&K? That’s my main take away from playing a bit with controller.
I cannot use linear. Im on classic and linear is way to weird for me.
i feel like at my shitty skill lever aim assist really doesn't change much lol i've used settings to turn it off and my games didn't feel that different. i just feel more comfortable being able to curl up with a controller vs sitting proper at a desk with mnk
dang your aimbot wasnt aimboting immediately. Maybe after 30 days of practicing with the aimbot, the aimbot will develope the skill to beam.
Controller is underrated
have fun on your journey! apex is the only fps on PC i am playing controller, since i switched it became far easier and more fun to play. Apex is just made for controller, its the way it is
Then why is nothing else outside of tracking better on a controller then? The rest of the game is FAR better on mnk outside of tracking. Controllers literally dont have enough buttons.
@@DAMNLOLAPEX shooting is the no.1 engagement in apex, can’t loot? still one clip, can’t tap strafe? still one clip. Aim is and has always been more important than movement in apex and controller has the aiming advantage
@@chair4594 yea due to lazily solving the solution of a bad input by giving it softaim.
Yay u moved to controller
Omg yes gaming merchant trying controller first time woooo
I'd say if you're a movement player, controller is a detriment . I was forced to switch to console after my pc died and it sucked :*((
It’s more comfortable, u can lay back
Interesting. I've been kbm since I was 10, I'm 34. I don't think I could make the transition. My years of N64 isn't good enough.
use 43 ljnear rom the start untl the end
Haha, you took my Controller! Its even my Pp
Hey one day out of the 30 you should try and get more comfortable with movement. Honestly, maybe it’s only because I switched to mnk fairly recently, but I think you’ll find wall bouncing is much easier on controller than on mnk.
As someone who has played both for over 2k hours each, wall jumping is easy on both
@@lvkillawolfvl1921 true
You only think that cause of just moving over. The speed you can change directions on mnk is fast enough for even the closest and smallest of walls
Dudes almost as good as me on his first day of controller smh
You wont be able to use any snipers with sniper scopes. So say bye to kraber
AA’s only good if you’re already decent at the game and you have to decide if aim alone is enough of a reason to leave behind pretty much everything good about this game.
my biggest tip would be stop fighting the aim assist, on mouse you have to do alot more correction but youre doing too much on controller. basically you want to glide to each target and then assist the aim assist. does that make sense?
Im still trying to get used to controller again. Been an active pc player for 14 years, only just came back to console this month. I still dont fully understand how much i should let the ain assist take over and how much i actually need to correct my aim with the right stick. I know using left stick helps bc i come from cod and cod has the left stick aim assist where if youre moving you get stronger aim assist. But in apex idrk how much i need to correct my sense and when to do so
Can't exactly compare the years and years on MnK to a month on controller tho. Let's say by the end of the month, you do get better stats. While it may seem like a smaller time frame, switching to controller doesn't magically delete your game sense and superior positioning tactics. The strategies you've learned over the years do still translate to controller.
Also, while more difficult because it's all new, you do have a general idea of where to position your cursor and recoil patterns at any range.
exactly, pros try controller and do amazing right away and people are like “omg controller op”, but actually its their years of experience for this game.
Couldnt have said it better..people underestimate game sense soo much
@@AlmostGood-ml8dccontroller OP stop resisting
@@AlmostGood-ml8dcit's more so the fact that pros even consider controller as a viable option is the evidence it's at the very least a bit busted. Pro FPS players wouldn't be choosing controller (the agreed inferior control method by majority of people) if there wasn't a reason. The only advantage is AA, so that's your reason right there, if it was balanced, pro players would naturally gravitate towards the superior control method for all the advantages that come with it.
@@AlmostGood-ml8dcI know this cause I got a mate who been controller player all his life and he's got a 0.36 kd on apex
Welcome to not looting and moving 😂 good luck shield swapping the same way
Apex controller settings in relation to aim assist is very weird. For example, if you use 4-3 linear and input the same values on ALC you will not get the same aim assist or feeling. If you use per optic sens that also has an effect. If you put all ALC settings to 0 and then use 4-3 linear it will also have an effect apparently. Its so weird.
I use both mnk and controller. Although its easier on controller it can get very annoying with the weird settings as I mentioned and controller issues. Theres so many factors that can change on controller. If you’re a serious gamer and put in the time imo mnk is better overall. Controller will always be more consistent close to medium ranges with aim assist. But potential will always be greater on mnk.
You will perform alot more worse moving to that specific controller! :)
