I feel like its like Rampart. People just arent into the playstyle. I think people really like skirmishers when they have aggro on the mind. They never notice the potential as well as the aggro potential of other characters.

I main Newcastle, one ability that a lot forget is his ult also breaks doors, many times I use it when players are blocking the door to break the doors and at the same time it pushes them back, like getting hit with a MadMaggie ball :) yes he can be very aggressive, give it a try :)
I've always loved Newcastle because the biggest benefits he provides that people don't seem to see are time and options. You can use the shield as a safe window to peek. It also regularly buys you a few seconds to make a decision. There is also no better feeling in the game than when someone tries to play your shield against you and you just move it. Followed by someone tries to hide behind your wall blocking a door and you just remove it.
If his tac had a toggle where it would match your movement, kind of like mirage, he would be played more. It can be a hassle to constantly reposition the shield in a gun fight since you have to keep spamming the tac button and if you aren't looking at the ground when you do it, it'll just send off into the distance. He is in my top 3 legends because his ult is fun to launch with
I supposedly played with the 90th place Newcastle on console. What made the main difference was the coms. I actually outkilled and outdamaged them surprisingly enough. They were cool
Honestly the most slept on character if he is last in pick rate. He is extremely good at keeping your team alive just from the shield alone plus the revive perk he has, but he also has extremely good aggressive utility as well. His passive makes it so you can bring a gibby bubble fight no matter where you are, but better. You can move it with you, move it away from the enemy so when they try to use it they get punished, and you can run at people with it with the fast shield perk. Unbelievably slept on.
You can also do a niche tech with his shield like gibby is able to do; using your shield/bubble to block off doors so people can't break them. They try punching the door and instead his the shield.
It's kind of a perfect fit for controller players. You use the shield to get the fights up really close range, then take advantage of the AA when things are close up. Newcastle has always been great, but he's huge. Other than Pathfinder, no one really wants to play the huge legends.
Newcastle forces you to jump a skill gap like; The peaking around corners becomes tougher since your such a large character. Very minimal things you would thing about as an avg legend become much more prevalent playing as Newcastle. I could 100% say learning to play him has increased my skill ceiling. Just becoming familiar and comfortable with pushing and not pushing certain scenarios. Forces you to take a 3rd person view on the fight. Definition of a chess piece.
I am a NC main, and I am happy ppl are realising he is underrated. But on the other hand, I want him to stay low picked bcs if he ismeta, apex will become a living hell :D
I don't think newcastle's bad, I just don't like supporting in general as my teammates tend to rely too much on the res instead of playing their life. Really good legend to use when you're stacked tho, survivability in the end game is insane.
To be good at Newcatsle, you need to be extra good and land all shots with close range, which is challenging for most mnk players. Not sure about console though. But yeah, he makes me want to play newcatsle and just practice close-range combat.
Honestly Newcastle is a God in any situation imo, and the thick shield is honestly the best you don’t have to rush the push and you can fake a team out making them think your alone and ultimate to your team. I’m currently trying to main him for my support I use to love Gibby, but his just become to slow. Mirage is good, plus those late games you can save your mobile shield for instead of just wasting ultimate if need be.
The only thing that makes me not want to play NC is the HP of his abilities base, I feel like a full team should have to mag dump like 2 times before it breaks just think about how much damage you can lay down in the firing range on a target most guns can do like 225 in one blue mag his upgrade path just lets your wall survive one more spray with the 250 hp+
It doesn't really matter who they play as if they have amazing aim and great movement they're going to win fights regardless.Some legends can just compliment your play style with their abilithis person doesn't need it clearly

I think Newcastle crypto & Watson are the legends that are good but they need big brain. I tried giving them a chance but I’m just not that good when using them

I think it's more the skill of the player the character itself is decent but for the most part is abilities are too slow can't tell you how many times I got shot out of the sky while using his ult
Lifeline main here, used to call him the most useless legend, until one day i played him after watching crazy Pred games. Now I'm transitioning to maining him instead.
seeing this made things connect for me, Newcastle is definitly a good dueler that means he is probably more of a controller legend. Newcastle had the reputation as a MnK legend coming off gibby meta and a kit the requires some ability precision. defintely would be punishing if your all your mechanics aren't on point. I always wanted a hitbox tweak but on controller you can win trades. It still drives me crazy you can't duck his head.

I love Newcastle. I just started up with him but he is a blast!

I recently started maining New castle. My only gripe is the hitbox but he's super underrated.
He’s a tank character the hit box is gonna be big, but he has extra 15% damage he can take and he’s the fastest of the bigger characters
