- In Sweden, Sarka Langer's team analyzed the difference between natural (window) and mechanical (fan) ventilation, based on a ton of factors including air change rate, carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), TVOC (odors), formaldehyde, isoprene, and my personal favorite, 6-Methyl-5-Hepten-2-One. Conclusions drawn, though questions remain.

Perception is interesting. Kids assume everything is normal and get used to it. That often remains true even for adults until it's shaped by experience or learning.
And then there are those who learn too much and can’t get back to bliss
@HomePerformance i have always found it better to understand and decide to put up with it or deal with it. Knowing is power.
Obviously I agree ;)
One wonders if there is any difference in children's learning influenced by ventilation. I certainly remember getting sleepy by the end of the day in my naturally ventilated elementary and high school. My middle school was mechanically ventilated, but it's been so long that whether my memories were from high school or middle school is hard to say. But, even so, mechanically ventilated doesn't mean there was fresh air added to that airflow.

There is a body of research detailing learning improvements (and reduced absences) with better ventilation. Page 5 of this report references several studies. static1.squarespace.com/static/5ef3652ab722df11fcb2ba5d/t/60a3d1251fcec67243e91119/1621348646314/Safe+Work+TF+Desigining+infectious+disease+resilience+April+2021.pdf
