    Well you convinced me to buy it. Mostly because your review is far more badly thought out than this product. Why would you need an air conditioner in a home with as you stated, your perfect levels of humidity and coolness. Rating this product based on its performance within a modern environment controlled home is so dumb. Go to the desert in summer and sit in your reflective tent and see how well it works. ;)

    Very interesting and informative! I live on both the east coast and west coast for a few years. I also live in Northern California and Southern California and I lived in Monterey California for a few years as well. So what this guy is saying here makes a lot of sense. The fires in northern California is horrible, the air quality in southern California is horrible as well. The pollen season in Monterey CA, the east coast and in both northern and Southern California is a daily dusting of green pollen or “dust”for a few months right after the rainy season until it fades away. This pollen does get inside your house when you open and close your doors. So just imagine how much more pollen will affect you if you use the whole house fan during the spring and summer months??

    Random question alert: do you have any thoughts regarding using any of these devices in sea turtle conservation? I live in Costa Rica and we have a huge problem with humans poaching the nests so we patrol the beaches at night looking for turtles and their nests so we can relocate the eggs to a safe place. I've been thinking about getting a thermal imaging drone or a handheld camera to help us see turtles and poachers down the beach and maybe even find the nests in the sand. You are so knowledgeable about these cameras and their strengths, I'd be very appreciative of your advice. Thank you

    • @HomePerformance
      @HomePerformance Před dnem

      It *might help you, but if turtles are cold blooded then they just become whatever temp is around them. You’d be able to see them when they come out of the cold sea onto the warm sand, but after a few mins they’d be invisible. You could see the poachers for sure though.

      @@HomePerformance I appreciate you taking the time to answer my off topic question. Another conservation group is using drones with thermal cameras to spot the turtles. Apparently while "under exertion" they show up. But even so, having advance notice of poachers hiding in the jungle is worth the price of admission!

    The building products out there nowadays are amazing. I have never heard of flashing or window tape. It pays to shop around and learn new things. It might make your job easier or better. I noticed that you said it was dumb to build a building without eaves. I don't understand why people do this. Sometimes I will see a utility shed or a garage without eaves and it looks so corny.

  • @patrickharrington2230

    Enjoyed this video very much. I have been following Matt for years and many of my clients come to me saying "We want this because we saw it on a Risinger Build video". I run an "Owner Builder" company in Houston and love helping people act as their own GC. I was a custom builder for 27 years and now i am on "the other side of the fence" and consult. It is an ever-evolving business and some of my clients bring ideas to the table that amaze me and we implement them. I learn as much from some of my clients as i do from my membership in the local HBA. I completely agree that homebuilders are lumped in with used car salesmen and it has been that was for many years. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to learning more from you. Let's all raise the bar in the home building industry!! "Ruin your life" when describing moisture flow is not useful. What is true is that where moisture sees a surface with a temperature differential, condensation occurs. This leads to water collection unless your design indicates a path for the water to go.

One could dream of a world where we can (almost) predict air movement and composition in a house (with its occupants) in quasi-real time (and adjust house parameters accordingly). However, physics is complex. Will uncertainty quantification benefit from recent and future machine learning innovations, leading to new kinds of models and better/faster solvers? Inspiring times!

Came for the info, stopped watching at the simplistic "Bro" science. Ozone doesn't attack things because they are soft, it's because ozone is an oxidizer, same as hydrogen peroxide or bleach. Just as materials are important, so is the contractor. This review is for Retro Foam Corporate as a warning to consumers. The worst home improvement contracting experience I have ever had in 40+yrs. of ownership was when I hired Retro Foam. The local franchise couldn't do anything right, nor did they follow my instructions for a good outcome. After they dithered about, I appealed to corporate, they sent out Ken E., he didn't get it either, instead of handling the rework properly by finding the problems and correcting them he sprayed over top of the poorly applied foam. Not to code, not to industry standard. My further appeals to corporate were met with nothing but a big run-around and gaslighting by Eric G. This leaves me with a home that did not pass inspection. My bank did claw back their fee, an easy out for RF, but not what I wanted at all. I wanted a professional job that would pass inspection. I pay gladly and promptly for professional work and have an excellent relationship with my contractors. Apparently, I wanted too much from Retro Foam. The only contractor I could find to do the remediation wants a fortune to fix what they did. Please do not make the mistake I did.
