- / foundfootagefestival With Shaturday's own gross creature Joe out of town, Nick, George and Caitlin rewind back to 1987 for the VHS-only MADBALLS cartoon! Plus, a final installment of commercials for gross toys and a game about gendered gross toy commercials called, "Does It Pass the Blecchdel Test?"

They did not have an easy task making this concept into a plot. And they did not succeed
This was a great episode. That Butt Heads theme song was amazing 😂
I love Caitlin, so glad she's a regular now!!
I like how that kid got mad with the slime game and smashed it
I had a Hotwheels Attack Pack truck. I loved playing with that thing.
Something gross is in the air in 2024, too.
PS. Core memory unlocked with the title theme.
PPS. Oculus Orbus was my personal fav. Not sure what that says about me.
PPPS. Madballs headpopping action figures were a thing in the 80s.
Omg ButtHeads? Never heard of these but my 8 year old would be ON BOARD!! Oh and BTW. Can I just say that this little show now gives me a similar anticipation feeling to what I had as a kid for Saturday mornings.
I remember Madballs, I'm sure I had at least a couple, but I don't remember which ones.
What an ep ! Great game Nick, please bring it back . 👍👍
Great show! I love looking back at the toys & shows from the 80's , it was a fun time to be a kid 😊
The music in the MadBalls episode had no reason to sound that good. The opening bass line at the start of the episode is sic
It really was the era of gross..I remember a Mad Ball knock-off called Weird Balls, and they had a Sludge product in competition with Slime. The Garbage Pail Kids were riding high. More slime in the Ghostbusters toy range. Fungus the Bogeyman. What a time to be growing up!
Apologies if I am off base but WAS that a girl in the Butt Heads commercial? I assume Nick was going off their hair style but it gave me pause because many boys and men have that same hairstyle? Its not that important ultimately but Im just wondering if anyone else had the same thought? The game was the highlight of the episode btw, that cartoon was abysmal even by Shaturday standards! Lol
I like how they changed the one Madballs name from Crack Head to Bash Brain for the cartoon
The creators of this cartoon really had no ideas lol. They just imitate the style of the time. Not easy to make every toy into a viable cartoon! These were still awesome and the comic books were a lot better.
I did like the comic
35:22
this is why you came back to this video
I think the brand asks for this association. I make no judgments, just aware of the writing room and marketing team realities.
(19:50 they aren't supposed to have limbs...! it goes against the very limited lore of the commercials, and comics? which were included? with toys. We had some )
I had this and Gross Jokes on vhs and converted them to DVD. Then ripped the video files on to a flash drive.
I also had the comics based off the property from Star Comics, which hasa completely different plot.
9:36 It almost look like Animaniacs!
Did Dan Schneider direct that gross edible slime commercial?
Surprised you didn't show the care bears scene in escape from orb. When the female mad ball attacks and beats up the main bad guy in an alley one or two shots of a torn-up baby tugs care bear doll with an arm missing fly's bye! Yikes! Dark.
Is... is this cartoon a retelling of the biblical exodus story but with MadBalls??
21:10 that song was barely Robert Pollard-length. I want my fucking ticket to this concert refunded.
Speaking as an artist, it was probably too hard to draw ‘gross’ for such cheap animation.
Holy hell that animation was horrible. Hands down one of the worst ones shown on Shaturday Morning Cartoons.
