- Fly Tying. This pattern comes from an old Wensleydale Fly List and yet owes its origins to a mixture of Ronalds The Fly-Fisher's Entomology and Leonard West's The Trout Fly. But with a substitute hackle of Quail Secondary Overcovert. #flytying #flyfishing #troutfishing
I own a golden doodle with fur virtually identical to this pattern! He will never miss a little trim and I doubt the trout will know the difference! 😄😄 Thanks!

Would you consider doing a couple of videos on 'putting together a' box/collection' of spiders to cover different fishing situations/times of year. If you shared your preferred cast: x on point, y middle, z top dropper, sizes etc, that would be really useful. Leader setup would be great too.

Two things interest me are you tying left handed?
The hackle pliers and the whip finisher.

I'm actually right handed but reverse the video in post, as i think it looks better on the screen. I generally use either a Dorin Teardrop hackle plier or a smaller Griffin Teardrop hackle plier. The whip finish tool is from C&F Design, which I modified myself.
Hi Robert, a very effective pattern/style for hunting fish, thank you. However I got thrown out a window 50 years ago for "wasting" the amount of silk you do. Well done for bringing these patterns to light.
It's the benefit of having a few hundred vintage spools of silk 😇
