Hi Robert, a nice video for us to enjoy but I have to say I do so envy you your wonderful dales streams, thanks to you I started tying and fishing spiders in the last bit of 23 season as after mayfly hatch hardly saw a rising fish but the spiders made a big difference. Looking forward to more of your videos this year.
For many years I used a 10ft 3 weight Marryat Tactical. But for the past couple of years my go-to spider rod has been the 10ft 3 weight Sage ESN. Which in my view is the best rod for fishing spiders.
@@thedalesangler I have a 10’ 3wt ESN rod. I’m going to have to give it a try for spider fishing. Typically I use my 9’ 4wt or 5wt for swinging wet flies. But I’m going to try the 10’ rod next time. Thank you.

I really enjoy your channel Rob. Thank you for a nice sanity break from the artic conditions here in New England. RIP Oliver Edwards-
Glad you like it.
Lovely relaxing vid, used to swim in the wharf when on holiday, remember seeing loads of little fish (trout?) Jumping the falls one year.
Wonderful country side, fish, and fishing!!
What a wonderful tribute to a true gentleman of the Angle
RIP Oliver
Thank you for an inspiring slide show. What is the music? It sounds like that of the Dales composer Arthur Butterworth.
It is called Rolling Hills and was composed by a CZcamsr called Sir Cubworth.
What rod do you use as the “spider rod”?
