Annihilation Nation from Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Arena battles with lightsaber wielding ninjas, a floating invincible gatling turret, robots with spike balls for hands (suck on that Edward Scissorhand!) lightning pits and spinning blade pits. And then there are the gauntlet challenges which, prior to Ratchet's arrival had NO survivors whatsoever! All of this is of course surrounded by pits of molten lava because why not?

The Bethesda game, RAGE, also features Mutant Bash TV. Its a post apocalyptic gameshow where you are thrown into a set of 4 themed arenas, and have to survive waves of mutants while dodging traps, and keeping up kill combos.
Rage also features Twisted Metal-like races and car games, as well. Car bits aren't on TV though.
How about the "Dreadzone" from Ratchet: Deadlocked? Who else would love to see in the future hero's and criminals thrown into spacey gauntlets fighting hoards of enemies and each other. Or from Gmod "Death Run"? Where contestants run through a gauntlet to be killed by traps to get the chance to kill the "deaths".

"Deathwatch" from the game Madworld for the Wii is SUPER underrated. The black & white (& red) style with Greg Proops and John DiMaggio verbally harassing you throughout your time on the show was fun from start to finish.
Gladiator fights were the original crazy game show.

Mother of God... I owned a copy of Mega Race. It ran on my Windows '95 PC and was FRIGGIN' IMPOSSIBLE. I was seven, and you have just awoken my nostalgia enough to pull me away from Fallout 4 to search for this game. Thanks a bunch, guys. I really needed more Lance Boyle in my life. Also, was nobody gonna comment on his name being a pun for removing a surface infection? I thought that was what they were going for with the feel of the game.
Even though they already had the zombie themed Terror is Reality from Dead Rising 2, another zombie themed TV show game is "Blood Drive" which was... y'know. A game. Yeah, a game. We'll just leave it at that.

What about Mutant Bash TV from Rage? A charismatic announcer, skilled contestants, and tentacle mutants. What more could you want?
I got two suggestions here: The Underdomes from the Borderlands games, most notably the first one where you restart the whole game upon dying, and Super Mario Party, which is essentially asking people to rob their friends in the main game with mini-games that usually have them killing each other somehow. Especially Mario Party 8, which has the bonus of making players summon Bowser to people's hometowns, messing with train cars, and stealing candy from fishermen.

There's Unreal Tournament as well, but you've covered that previously. Still one of my old favourites. Wasn't the racing game Wipeout also set up as a dystopian TV show? That was great.

Wasn't the original PS2 Unreal Tournament a reality TV show? Killing imortal red and blue enemies with a variety of weapons ranging from scifi small arms to WMD's in a televised free for all! That is way more interesting, educational and ethical than any episode of KUWTK!

so glad you included megarace! that game was so good, but came with the problem of game speed being tied to CPU speed if I recall right. unless you artificially dropped the speed of the game back down again you basically end up watching super fast explosions as soon as you boot the game up as your car goes careening into walls at the blink of an eye. still better than Lego racers.
World Destruction League, fond memories of those games as a kid. If TV is like that in future I might start watching it again. Also there's Mutant Bash TV from Rage

Best bit of that video was watching Andy stumble through explaining the more videos bit, his spatial awareness is shocking, it's down AND to the side! I fear for my life if Andy is driving in London :P
The only thing worse than Lance Boyle's terrible patter and barely disguised reading his lines off cards acting was his suit. Apparently in the future everyone buys their colourful suits six sizes too big and makes sure to crumple them up in a ball for three days before wearing them. I hated him then and I still hate him now.

It's like Battle Royal but inside of an entire city, with mini games like hit-people-with-a-baseball-bat-into-giant-dart-boards,
and all broadcasted by 2 hosts, of which one of them is Bender from Futurama
What about That's My Merlee! from Super Paper Mario? You have five questions to identify the Real Merlee, since the other is an imposter! If you lose, you get attacked by a giant spider girl! If you win, you...still get attacked by a giant spider girl.

Psygnosis created a video game for the Amiga called The Killing Game Show. The idea was that you were driving (Were?) a robot trying to avoid getting drowned by water, while all sorts of other bots tried to kill you. Fun!
It wasn't until I watched this that I realized how many video games use the same trope of a murder-spree televised event to critique game shows/reality TV.
Twisted Metal; a tournament where you kill people using vehicles including ice cream trucks and tanks and the grand prize is whatever you ask for, with a 99% chance of your words being twisted into something that you probably don't want.

No "The Devil Inside" ? I know I'm probably only one of the 10 persons that played this game, but still...
It was a 3rd person shooter where you were a redhead male cop (able to sometimes transform in a black haired female demon, don't ask) "investigating" (meaning destroy everything that moves) haunted houses full of zombies and monsters.
The game was not great at all, but not the worst either, and the "TV show" was really well done, the "3rd person camera" was actually a drone following you behind your face and you could see it each time another camera was showing another angle. You also had a pretty good localisation of bullet impacts.

In one of the Dangerona series games, it turns out they're on a TV show, and everyone's talent is just implanted in them, with only one destinated survivor. What's sad is they begged the audience to stop watching so they can be free
Rage had a fun one, basically you go into it blasting mutants, the more accurately you shoot the better your score and the more cash you get. Its just 1 contestant at a time though and if you have some guns and ammo it isnt really all that difficult. Its sure fun though xP
I could never get MegaRace to run quite right, the FMVs always lagged and stuttered no matter what I did or how powerful a machine I ran it on.
Up until recently when I resurrected it and ran it on a copy of DosBox I had assumed that Lance Boyle was supposed to be a sort of Max Headroom style AI character.

Sometimes I think I love oxbox a little too much. Then they upload a new video and I interrupt my philosophical thoughts and watch the video instead. And I love them a little more than before.
I think a good zombie sport would be to have an arena split down the middle via chain link-fence, plexiglass, some form of transparent border. Have an even amount of zombies on either side, and send in two contestants in full body armor and with a melee weapon of their choosing. One contestant on each side, and whoever kills the most zombies when the 2-minute time runs out is the winner.

danganronpa v3 : killing harmony. in the ending of the last trial, the remaining characters find out that the whole thing was a reality show on it's 53rd season.
i always enjoyed the various Ratchet&Clank gameshows, both the one you willing to participate in and the one you were forced into and had to blow up. so really everyone wins!
I was hoping to see Madworld on the list because of it's awesome gameshow and it's one of the few good violent games for the Nintendo Wii (next to No More Heroes).

I remember a F2P game (I don't think it's available anymore) that was called Bullet Run or something like that, where a bunch of contestens had to, well, shoot each other in the most impressive ways in order to gain fame and fans. Actually was quite a fun idea.
