Also having not watched the series to the end I can't really speak on the whole show so I'll just answer the following: yes I AM ATTRACTED TO SPENCER REID and honestly also to Gideon but that's because I've got a thing for Mandy Patinkin what the hell. I’ve always read Reid enthusiastically sharing random facts as a very autistic trait. I am on the spectrum and I have a tendency to excitedly parrot information I don’t fully understand yet, and I do stand around waiting to be able to say the thing I’m excited about, and my excitement often distracts me from actually listening to the person I’m talking to. I feel like the show did this on accident though because his behavior is constantly made fun of in the show, and I feel like a lot of his autistic qualities kind of faded away as he “grew up” but I can’t really say too well I stopped watching at some point in the middle of the shows run.
I do see lots of great points in your perspective of Reid though
Thanks for the comment! I agree, it did feel a bit like they were coding him in that way without meaning too. If I remember correctly, Gubler interprets Reid as having ASD, so that could have been an intentional part of his portrayal.
