As a conservative christian I totally agree with these guys about not trying to want to constantly want to force ppl to change or shove opinions down their throats. I know this to be true. I've noticed ppl in a convo sit and wait for certain keywords to drop, and boy then they are in and the floodgates open and I just think how disingenuous that is. Rather be upfront and if you really want to share your faith with someone, make an appointment and tell them what you want to talk about instead of trying to pull a slick move. I have friends who are non-believers and I don't get in their face about it and neither do they. I believe in old fashioned tolerance and friendship despite differences. Should I be asked in a conversation about my beliefs, I am more than willing to give very good reasons why I am convinced that my beliefs are totally based on logical and rational thinking and that it's not a leap into darkness, but towards truth - I just don't wear these thoughts on my sleeve when I'm around people who think otherwise. I've learned people don't read bibles, they read christians. If any unbeliever was ever convinced otherwise, it was not through a finger in his face or force, it was through friendship, loving kindness and respect.
Also I feel what Rikus said - I mentioned that I'm a conservative christian, most ppl might think now that I wear two tone khaki shirts and drive a toyota bakkie, sipping on a brandy and eating a garage pie. if you saw me, you'd put me into a chill super liberal english free-sprit box. im also quilty of labeling people. I think we do it subconsciously as it seems almost human to do, but its so stupid and detrimental to knowledge and development. although im conservative etc, I feel totally disconnected with my own conservative culture to the point that I cannot stand being around other conservative types too long and this is more evidence that each of us are individuals as Peach mentioned and that we should start thinking, talking, presenting and even dressing for ourselves, rather than this group we think we belong to. I hate that about my culture. I am also part of the problem and the fix begins with me.
