This year Jokic is:
1st in Box +/-
1st in offensive box +/-
1st in defensive box +/-
1st in Value over Replacement Player
1st in PER
1st in Win Shares
1st in Win Shares/48 minutes
1st in Offensive Win Shares
2nt in Defensive Win shares (next to Rudy, who didn't make your MVP ballot)
Basically that's every advanced stat that matters.
And Jokic is THE player on the best/most feared team in basketball. Without him, they collapse. How is that not MVP? Seriously man.
Jokic +-18.9 this shouldn't even be a debate
Nick will never get over the fact that Brou has a vote but he doesn't 😂 😂
If Nick had a vote, he will try his best to sneak Lebron in some of the categories. lol
Nick is biased
@@EuroGupperso is every other media voter, he just happens to have more attention around his opinions.
@@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher88at this stage of lebrons career? He definitely wouldn’t. Nick is a lebron fan, but even he realizes now that lebron is on the tail end of his career there’s just no possible way he can be in the arguments for things like MVP and DPOY when there’s just so many young stars in the league.
2018 and younger lebron? He’d definitely be voting lebron first for everything lol
Thank God He Does Not
Big respect to Brou for explaining why this Luka year was so impressive with all the injuries that Dallas had, Luka or Jokic not going to be mad if either of them wins it. They gave the MVP to Embiid last year(Because he begged for it on national media) and it should have gone to Joker. That is why Jokic had a head start for MVP and he was amazing again this season ...
Jokic should win but Luka wouldn't be nearly as bad as Embiid was (who almost made up for it this year by actually playing MVP caliber before the injury).
@@jjalkman1999 Embiid definitely one of the top 5 scariest players in the league this year, And would be top 5 MVP candidate for sure. His play-making out the double team needs to be tested and overcome these playoffs for him to be up there with The Don and Joker.
Honestly I'm mad Embiid winning MVP last year but this if he actually play more game and not get injured I vote for him MVP.
Luka isn’t going to win it and he might not even come in second
Stop the revisionist history
The first dude keeps saying Luka’s late season surge. The dude average 34/9/10 the whole season. Had 73 points in a game back in January. What are you talking about late season surge?
Good job Broussard, as usual
As usual? The guy gave Embiid MVP because he didn't want Jokic to 3-peat... Brou disregards logic and reason the moment he doesn't like someone
@@WindowLicker_-9 Embiid deserved the award.
Fr, i agree with all of his picks
@penkima4923 no he didn't. Jokic had by far the better stats. Not to mention Jokic is the overwhelming favourite until Perk and his rxcist comments made voters scared of being called out
@@WindowLicker_-9 Their stats were nearly equal. But Embiid is the better defender.
Thanks for not spoiling in the title! Too many shows do this.
This show has done it regularly, so hopefully this means they won't anymore.
Luka is my MVP
Definitely the best season this year. Jokic to me barely gets the nod based on advanced analytics.
I’m with you but the nba media sucks
Nah, joker is the mvp
Good thing you don’t vote

Most assists in a season by a center:
708 - Jokic this season
702 - Wilt Chamberlain
678 - Jokic last season
Joker just recorded the most assists ever by a center over a 2 season span.
Jokic is great. One of those guys who deserves to be top 3 MVP candidate every year.
And Luka still finished with 1st in points and 2nd in assists, along with having 52.6 rpa per game… so what does this help with Jokic lol
@@TeeeWal I totally want Luka to win it too, although advanced metrics would overall prefer Jokic, (as he surely has better defense as well due to sheer size)... still I do hope Luka wins it after this montrosity (in a good way) of a season even by his very high standards!
Give it to Luka magic! Eos
@@antonquirgst2812 I like both players but its between Luka winning his first and Jokic winning his third, and they normally vote for the guy that didnt get it yet
Brou is probably the most logical analyst on TV. He obviously watches games and votes for the most deserving candidate
Idk that Westbrook pity vote the other year😂😂😂😂
Nah but you are 1000% correct, he doesn't do the "hot take" stuff, at least not purposely. He has been consistent these last 10-15 years I've seen him on TV on what he says, values year to year.
@@Kruppt808 I hope there is some kind of voter reform for next season. SAS leaving a 50 win player who’s averaging 34,9,10 out of his top 5 was maybe the wildest take I’ve ever heard. Then went on to talk about SGA leading the league in assist 😂. It’s obvious his vote has nothing to actually do with basketball.
Fair play to Brou, the real analyst. He mentioned the stats, and the injuries, absolutely the most transparent NBA analyst as of today!
Luka getting his respect !!
Chris Broussard knows ball. He’s the only one in media who actually deserve to have a vote.
He should take rob parkers and have 2
His reasoning when it comes to MVP is so wrong.
Jokic was the MVP as a 6th seed playing WITHOUT Jamal Murray and Michael Porter. That is why he was the MVP in the first place. If Jamal was healthy and Denver was 6th Jokic wouldn't win the MVP.
But now because Jokic was the MVP as a 6th seed we will give the MVP to the 5th seed who plays WITH Kyrie Irving and not WITHOUT him? What is next? A player wins the MVP as a 5th seed playing on a team with 3 Hall of Fame teammates in their prime?
@@NikolaIvanovic-pu7hgkyrie was out 1/3 of the season and Luka is having historically great season, individually.
I am not mad if Jokic wins but I think Luka certainly does have a case to win it.
@@damrollyou completely ignored the point he brought up though.
Kyrie played 5800% more games than Jamal did. Kyrie is a 1st ballot HOFer still in his prime.
Jokic missed MPJ & Murray combined for 155 games which is more games than ALL of Luka’s teammates combined. Then add in the the injuries to the other role players/starters on that team.
Jokic winning as 6th was the biggest carry job ever. Luka did not carry anything. If he did? It was for a very short period of time.
@@ImGayWhenISayThisBut I think Brou has Luka and Jokic tied and like Nick stated, tie goes to the guy who doesn't have one
Chris "He's bouncy" Broussard
“I got Wemby number one, Joe Berry number 2…….”
Jokic gets his team better shots than anyone else on any other team, especially in crunch time. Whether it is a dunk for Gordon, a post move from Jokic, or an open 3 for MPJ or KCP, Jokic gets them better shots.
That's why he's so good and the Nuggets win close games.
FINALLY! Luka is being recognized.
Chris Broussard will go down on the right side of history

I got Nikola for MVP, great segment 🔥💯
It’s not all about seeding. Jokić has the better individual stats than Luka.

Jokic played in 9 more games than Luka which is over 10% of the season
theres a reason why jokic is nr 1 in every advanced metric plus dont forget denvers bench is 28th in productin the 3rd worst in the league
Dude... Dallas rested their entire starters the last 2 games, cause they had nothing to play for... if you wanna count those games it just shows how desperate you are. Luka had to do more with way less because of a plathera of injuries to the entire roster. You made the same argument for Jokic 2 years ago. Now its Lukas turn.
Not to mention all those advanced metrics are so good, cause Denver plays their great starting lineup way more minutes then any other team in the league. Noone is even close. And you have no other big with NBA quality as a backup. And your bench overall is one of the worst of the entire NBA. So of course his advanced numbers are through the roof.
Cope loser Lukas better
Btw EPM is a more reliable stat and Lukas ahead of Jokic in that
@@Smido83 okay even if you take away all the advanced stats Jokić has better box score stats. Sorry but Luka isn’t getting rewarded for playing less games than Jokic. Total points/rebounds/assists matter too

As a Nugget fan, I'm fine with Luka winning. But for Brou to ignore Murray missing 23 games (by not mentioning his name) but made sure to name Irving missing 24, (which the last two he sat out because the Mavs had nothing to gain) is thr kind of the stuff that pisses my off about the debate. Clowns.
For some perspective I will say that the Mavs had the most inured team in the league this season with players who contributed a minimum of 10 minutes a game missing a combined 200 games. Yes Murray missed time but Luka didn’t have a single lineup play 100 minutes together until after the trade deadline 🤷🏼♂️
It is illogical to have tatum over giannis
best player on the best team, you can definitely make an argument for hi; not as the MVP but as a 3-4 guy in the ballot for sure.
Having him over Brunson is the bigger problem to me, Brunson looked like the overwhelmingly better player than Tatum all year and he is a 2nd seed without another all star
Here's the thing you don't have to like it but there is a valid argument for it. You had a guy who averaged 30 last year willing sacrifice his scoring numbers to seamlessly integrate two very good players resulting in easily the best record in the NBA and in terms of net rating and average point differential a top 5 team all time. Certainly not a flashy look at my numbers argument but in terms of results effective.
@jammer9941 is that the argument for tatum being MORE VALUABLE than giannis?
It’s the wins. 64 wins and the next best team won 57 games. Meanwhile, the Bucks have been trash since Doc took over. Giannis doesn’t deserve to be above Tatum.
Brou's Wemby estimates are better than Wildes and I love Wildes.
Jokic MVP. Number one in efficiency rating, box Plus/Minus OFF & DEF and win shares. Tell the whole story. Jokic, Luka & SGA

At the end of the year you do the math a and the best players win.
Also, if a player is hurt for a month he won t be voted that month. And that will pénalise him at the end of the year when cumulating points.

Thanks for all of the constant entertainment....for years now guys!
as a kid I would've been saying Luka for MVP, as a grown man now I would say Jokic and it comes down to efficiency, impact on winning, and the deep metrics PER, +/-, availability, win shares, defensive win shares. and with all that into consideration, it is clearly Jokic.
I love Luka and I am a Mavs fan since Dirk and I want SGA to win it. But you are right, it is clearly Jokic. They are just trying to find ways to explain why they are going Luka or SGA but nah, definitely Jokic.
Most people in sports media don’t follow advanced impact metrics unfortunately. They see Jokic 26-13-9 to Luka 34-9-9 and they think Luka has a far bigger impact
@@kingjaydex7464 that’s not true, jokic is going to win mvp this year lol

Completely agree. A younger version of me might have had Luka at first. But because of the reasons you brought up, it's hard to argue against Jokic. His value to Denver is insane.
Love for both of them from 🇷🇸...Hope they match up in West finals... Whoever wins MVP out of two of them is fine by me
That defensive rating impact stat is flawed mainly for the reason that these guys are all starters. when they step on/off the court usually a bench guys are playing for either team. The FG% allowed stat is much more legit because it's only about their direct personal impact.
Brou is just good, I hope Luka will win his deserved MVP-Trophy.
Not deserving and won’t win
Great arguments Brou!
Yall forget the circumstances of Joker’s first 2 MVPs already … Jokić and the Nuggets literally changed the game by building around their #41 draft pick as a Point Center, the same way Steph changed the league previous by leading to the small ball era!
Jokić was the Wemby-esque enigma of that time, with the individual and team success all on his shoulders. It was a completely different situation
"Jaxson Hayes can play though" Wildes 🐐

Can't believe Nick finally persuaded Brou to join the Luka bandwagon! Nice job!
Brou’s one knock on SGA is that his teammates played games? What are we doing 😂 it’s SGA fellas
Jokic's and Luka's teammates were injured.
They are arguing against thin air here. No one is using the wins/seeding argument against Luka
Some people do
True story if it was lebron they would’ve said seed matters
Then he should win it
They have been
Bill simmons was lol
Factually speaking Luka’s season is not relative to what Jokic did as a 6th seed… Kyrie this season has better numbers (even a 50/40/90 season) than Jokic’s team mates two years ago COMBINED (as MPJ & Murray both missed the whole season)
Luka’s second best player this year Kyrie is having a greater season than Jamal Murray despite them both playing the same amount of games… in the games Luka actually PLAYED the Mavs were 46-24, the games Jokic PLAYED the Nuggets were 55-24 which is a NINE GAME win difference. Add to that, the Mavs actually have a WINNING record when Kyrie plays and Luka doesn’t; but a LOSING record in the games Luka played but Kyrie didn’t.
Finally, last year Nick’s argument in favour of Embiid was that Philly won more games than the Nuggets in a tougher conference (54wins vs 53wins) plus Embiid was the better defender… Big surprise now THIS SEASON all of that actually applies in favour of Jokic, and it has to go out the window 🤔
Jokic should win it I’m sorry the most dominate player we’ve ever seen
I get the Luka box score appeal, but check out the Mavs' offence with Luka on the court vs. Kyrie, kinda comparable.
Now look at the Nuggets offence with Jokic on/off... it's night and day. Jokic + bench unit is a 122 off rating... that's insane
Jokic never plays with bench players so if he is off the court most of Denver’s starters are off the court. That juices his on/off metric dramatically.
Bro you just said it "kinda comparable with *Kyrie* ". Like that's not a factor. It's Kyrie. Lol.
Their back up centers are cheeks and everyone knows it…got anything else?
@@hiphopotamus69 Wrong, the team's rating with Jokic and no other starter in the lineup is still 122... Jamal and MPJ w no Jokic isn't even over 110... It's staggering. He's insanely valuable
@@Joe_Ma99 Yeah him and Bench players have an offensive rating of 122 on the court
He's better than Luka he's just not insanely ball dominant
We'll see who's more valuable if they meet in the playoffs. I'm a Luka fan too
Luka is my MVP this year hands down
6:43 Rudy Jobert?😂
Now imagine adding Ben Simmons to the team
Nicks reasoning for DPOY is precisely why you shouldnt ever give him a vote, because he doesnt think Gobert deserves 4 or Davis deserves one for his career, you give it to the best defensive player who had the most impact, simple as that. And Wemby should absolutely be the defensive player of the year, never seen a guy block and alter so many shots.
If we're going by on/off metrics and winning isn't that important, Herb Jones should be DPOY. His on/off for a wing defensively is insane.
Joker is the MVP. They have the same win loss record as OKC. I won’t be mad if Luka wins but joker has been the MVP from day one and has achieved nothing but wins and amazing stats
Luka is on an unstable team and still competing by throwing up all time numbers
Well Jokic was MVP based on those leaked MVP votes.
Luka mvp
Luke is barely behind them tho that makes no sense you act like the nuggets have 10 more wins wtf there 3rd 😂 luka stats are better and nuggets without jokic is better than mavs without Luka which means luka is more valuable
you didn’t pay attention to what broussard said?
If SGA, according to Brou, is the most clutch player in the league, averaging 30, and has the number one seed in the west, how is he not MVP
Brou prédication was closest

Jokic won mvp as 6th seed on a team that would be worst in the nba without him, with campazzo as starting point guard. That nuggets team wasn’t even an nba team without jokic. It’s not the same case with Luka AT ALL. Gotta love how these analysts refuse to use logic.
That Dallas team with Gafford, Washington, Jones, and Hardaway ain't a good team either, especially considering how many games Kyrie missed. Gotta love how fans see it differently for their guy instead of being unbiased.
I just watched Jokic get drugged by Wemby in a game he needed to get the one seed. That can't happen to The MVP.
@@ghawkins816 MVPs can have off nights. Stef laid an egg in THREE games of the '16 Finals as the only unanimous MVP in NBA history. (Bron did the same in the '11 Finals.) Embid laid eggs during the entire postseason last year. He also famously went scoreless in a previous game against the Raptors, shooting 0 for 11. Jokic was simply suboptimal against the Spurs, at 3 assists shy of a triple double.

Award should go to the MVP - "most" valuable player, means it needs to go the the best. That is Jokic by all means.
Brou will be on the right side of history when we look back at this season!!
Tell me why this background music is kinda 🔥
Gobert and Davis nearly plays 40+minutes in close games. Wemby barely plays 32mins. Hence the first stat of point differential when player is out of game shouldn't be considered.
1. Jokic (on/off numbers are insane)
2. SGA (young team, #1 seed)
3. Luka (great final push)
4. Brunson (2 seed with many injuries)
5. Giannis (team plays no D w/o him)
Good pick for #4. Tatum's team would probably still be a top seed without him.
Other guys are amazing, but Jokic is bringing most value to his team.
I like how Brou reason for Tatum is that the Celtics were the best team. Nothing about the player .. But everything was about Boston. Jalen overall had a better season.
The Celtics are +77 in games Tatum didn't play, the team is stacked. Im not trying to hear no Tatum MVP noise lol
Gotta give Broussard his flowers. Overall solid list and the points he makes for Luka are knowledagble and actual good points
I've got a surprise to you haters - Luka is also a Serbian only from Slovenia. Probably originated from Bosnia.

I AGREE WITH EVERY POINT BROU MADE.
You know I haven’t been paying attention this season and like a couple weeks ago I asked myself why are we putting Luka in this tier with Giannis and Jokic and Embid when they all won mvps and he hasn’t really been at that level, then I see people talking about luka for mvp, so maybe it’s the right question to ask atm

The on/off the court impact stats at 7:34 are not how you should vote for DPOY. Stars sub straight back in if the bench loses a lead. The garbage time minutes that the superstars are off the floor are not high-quality data to make your DPOY votes or any projections from.
Winner of efficiency stats such as PER/WS/VORP/BPM for 4 consecutive seasons,
The Denver Nuggets have 3rd worst bench in the league;
Jamal Murray missed 20 games;
Still, the most win in the Western Conference(=okc)
Jokic, who has the most overwhelming on-off margin in the league,
Luka fans never mention this. They are only talking about PTS/AST/REB~ he is alone~~
Was legitimately shocked when he had Jokic number 2. Let's go Luka MVP!
Brou's MVP voting is founded in the same logic as presidential voting
I understand what they are saying about Luca. But was someone having a similar year as Joker when he was a sixth seed and won the mvp?
Jokic led the league in all the advanced metrics that year: PER, WS, WS/48, BPL, and VORP (and the year before, and the year after, and this year).
I will never watch you guys talk basketball ever again 😂
Agree with Brou 100%
God bless Brou. He doesn't let race interfere with his vote.
Gobert not winning DPOY is just disrespectful.. MIN won 56games and was the best defense in the league and the only reason for that is Gobert..
CB argues for Luka by saying Jokic once won MVP as a sixth seed. What he conveniently omits is that Jokic's two primary competitors for the award that year were Giannis and Embiid who played on teams that won 50 games The Nuggets won 48--no appreciable difference. Nuggets were a lower seed because they were in the much tougher west. No comparison to this year's race. CB also continues to ignore on off plus minus, or in other words what is a team's net rating when a certain player is on the court and what is it when they're off? Jokic leads the league by a mile. Luke is a distant 25th. Jokic has more impact on winning than any player,
Thats what happens mate, people just remember winners, not the story behind it.
Your argument is flawed in so many ways. First of all you said joker season with 48 came when the west was extremely strong and competitive and that's why he didn't win as many games. Have you completely ignored the juggernaut that is the west right now?? You have teams that would place in top four in the east fighting for a playin spot in the west. That point is poorly made. And you saying plus minus (a literal stat that is heavily criticized because it is wildly inconsistent and downright inaccurate at times saying that absolutely terrible players have a great plus minus therfore they are good. When plus minus is literally dependant on who's on the court at the same time with you. ) but you want to use that it determines who's more impactful to winning? That's not even the purpose of the stat, it's actually used to determine lineup effectiveness, not individual greatness. How about we use a more realistic stat of winning with vs without that player. Jokers team is 2-1 without him, small sample but they are still solid and mostly likely above .500 without him. Lukas team is 4/8 without him literally a .333, I'll even be generous and remove the last two games they lost which makes them 4/6 which is still well below .500. Oh and by the way, those 8 losses would make up the difference in their records with dallas at 50 at Denver at 57. Mvp is the best player among the best teams who is doing the most and if you think that is joker, more power to you. But that is a terrible method for measuring mvp. Imo but who cares
Jokic's on off numbers are massively skewed by Denver's rotations. If Luka played the same line shift rotations that Jokic does his on off numbers would not be any worse. And the West this sesson is significantly stronger than the year Jokic won as a 6 seed and Luka got his team to 50 wins. Your arguments are hollow.
lol sure. but when jamal is out, nuggets take a step back.
learn rotations. joker gets high numbers a PER because the way they rotate. everyone on that team tends to have positive +/- because they rotate any moment a minus happens
Agree with Broussard all the way 😊
Focusing on the seed stuff is a complete and utter red herring to try and change the focus from the fact that Joker has just been that much better and more important to his side than Luka has. Luka scored more points because he shot the ball a lot more, that's the difference in their counting stats (Jokic much better in rebounding obviously). Jokic is a significantly better defender and I actually think Luka is very harshly judged on that end of the court but Jokic also is for some reason. There is no noteworthy variance between the two teams (either record or talent wise) to really factor it into this.
I love Luka, he's a very worthy 2nd to Joker but this shouldn't really be a debate for anyone who actually watches and follows the sport. There's a reason that Jokic is just flat out miles ahead in every single advanced stat, some of them at genuinely historic levels. It's eye test meets statistics checking out completely. Luka has had a flat out great season, Jokic has just been greater.
Realistically the MVP race should be as boring as the ROY race, these guys are just creating narratives, like they did last year which ultimately cost Jokic a very deserved MVP, for the clicks and to talk about something.
interesting that Broussard picked Luka as top MVP candidate, I didn't expect it from him. first three players are the same for me, SGA on third place is legit, he was 3 best player this season and then there is a drop for me. Luka & Joker are tier 1, SGA is tier 2, all the rest are tier 3 and lower. from 4th place on I have no idea who I would choose, there are quite a lot of candidates for those spots but Tatum at 4th seems completely ok because he still is the best Boston player who has best league score.
Don't get me wrong - all of those players are awesome!
I would vote
1) SGA
Took youngest team ever to western conference 1st seed Against Toughest WC ever. Or close to ever while scoring 30+ ppg and 6/6.
2) Luka - equal with SGA it was seeding that tipped scales for me
3) Jokic
Its not necessarily the numbers that has SGA in contention over Luka & Jokic for MVP.
As stated by several analysts, the Thunder is the youngest team in the NBA with no other all-star & ranked first in the league. SGA, who's offensive game is not oriented near the 3 point line as a guard, has the better defense than Luka & Jokic. Further more, The Thunder has the season winning record over the Mavs & Nugs this year. If we are putting Jokic Luka over SGA, then we need to consider that there more NBA considered with individual stats & highlights, over true overall skill & team impact.
TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE JOKIC IS THE MVP this year.
- he played more games than other MVP candidates, had the tied best record in the West with his best teammate miss 25 games.
- Jokić was fifth in total points, third in total rebounds, second in total assists, and eighth in total steals. He’s the only player in NBA history to be top-10 in all four categories in a single season.
- Jokić led the entire league in on/off offensive efficiency with plus-18.9 points per 100 possessions.
-He was first in total plus-minus at plus-682.
Jokić was first in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player), PER (Player Efficiency Rating), Win Shares, Offensive Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, Offensive Box Plus/Minus, and Defensive Box Plus/Minus.
- Every single Nuggets starter had a higher effective field goal percentage with Jokić on the floor compared to him off it.
-Jokić was the only player in the league that averaged at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. He's the sixth player to ever put up these numbers.
- Jokic was second in total at-rim assists and total two-point assists.
- He was first in total steals by a center.
- Jokić was fifth in total deflections in the NBA.
- He was second in the NBA in non-restricted painted area field goal percentage at 61.7 percent (minimum 100 attempts).
- He finished second in total points in the painted area.
- Jokić was first in post-up points and assists.
- He also led the league in total points and total assists from the elbows.
Jokić recorded the second-most double-doubles in the league with 68 and the second-most triple-doubles with 25.
- Nikola had 21 games of 25-point triple-doubles, which led the league.
Fantastic analysis. Unfortunately, these pundits are married to their bad takes from the past i.e. Jokic is the worst MVP since Dave Cowens.
And that's what determines their votes, not the evidence. Absolute disgrace.
Man I hope they give Wemby his DPOY
If Wemby wins DPOY as a rookie, what is to stop him from just winning it every year? The only thing I can think of is voter fatigue or injuries keeping him from 65 games.
If the voters start watching Wemby's games or his stats, then Wemby won't be winning more DPotY-awards.
It's insane, it's clearly Jokic and not even close. He is the best player in the NBA and clearly the most valuable to his team.
Michael Jordan should have 14 MVP's then.
@SalvatorVII I think shaq would be a better comparison with than Jordan in this context, but yes Jordan and LBJ should have a few more. Jokic is a better player on a better team that has less star players. I don't see any argument other than giving it to someone new. Luka is unstoppable, Jokic makes his team unstoppable.
