This year Jokic is:
1st in Box +/-
1st in offensive box +/-
1st in defensive box +/-
1st in Value over Replacement Player
1st in PER
1st in Win Shares
1st in Win Shares/48 minutes
1st in Offensive Win Shares
2nd in Defensive Win shares (next to Rudy)
Basically that's every advanced stat that matters.
And Jokic is THE player on the best/most feared team in basketball. Without him, they collapse. How is that not MVP? Seriously man. Deserves because he doesn't have one? Since when is that a criteria? Luka is great, but "most valuable" belongs to only 1 guy, and it's Jokic.
EXCEPT JOKIC IS THE MVP UNQUESTIONABLY!!
Luka hasnt had to overcome Kyries drama because there hasnt been any. Wtf is Colin talkin about sometimes 😂
I think he meant that Kyrie has had drama more or less every year for the past few seasons. His first clean season in a while was next to Luka.
The lack of drama is what they mean by overcoming it since Kyrie’s track record suggests he would have done something by now but hasn’t. Overall, they’re saying Luka is keeping Kyrie in check
Facts you haven't heard nothin bout Kyrie in Dallas but now all of a sudden Luka overcame kyries drama? Ts is ridiculous
@@Beeboh nobody keeps Kyrie in check besides himself.
Yeah that was idiotic
Luka deserves the MVP this year more than Embiid did last year
so we gonna rob jokic another mvp?
Embiid was averaging better stats this season before he got injuried.
@@StarryNight4024 Embiid was averaging 36 ppg 6 ast and 11 reb (53) before his injury, Luka averaged 34 ppg 10 ast and 9 reb (53) . They are equally impressive

Bro said overcoming Kyrie drama like Luka has any control over what Kyrie does. 😂😂😂
Why is it that pundits completely dismiss the big Three in San Antonio, when discussing dynasties? The Spurs won 3 titles in 5 years.
never won B2B
Bc they're casuals... San Antonio never gets love, it's nothing new
Name the dynasty of those 5 that the Spurs knock off.
Everybody including prime Heat
@@BoiWondaful prime heat wasn’t there.
Colin saying Kyrie was “considered a bust in Cleveland” at 2:00 is insane. He was an all star the year before in just his 3rd year in the league and going into year 4 when bron got there.
He was also the MVP of that All Star game - and the Rising Stars Challenge Game MVP in his bedut season couple years before that
ROY, all star at 22, yeah a real bust
Nick's recall when it comes to Basketball is very impressive
People may not always agree with him and can find him obnoxious but the guy is a borderline genius
Except he forgot Pippen had 2 rings in 1992.
Compared to cowherd, miles ahead.
@@kpNov23 that's like being the tallest midget...
Ya I don’t know how so many people hate on Nick he is great at what he does!
Instead of giving Kyrie credit for being on his best behavior, they giving Luka the credit for keeping him in check lmao the media hates Kyrie
I'm just watching this after watching the warriors get thumped by SAC
Love to see it
Dream Team would MASSACRE the 2024 Olympic team!!!!😂
I dont say this often. But Nick is 100% right about Luka being the MVP.
Jokic, SGA, and even Brunson and Tatum deserve it more
Tatum stacked team worse stats across the board. Shai I could see because nobody on earth saw the thunder at #1 but Chet’s defense and jdubs improvement caused that more than shai playing the same as last year. I like Brunson in the conversation but definitely not. Jokic did exactly what everyone expected the defending champs to do on a stacked roster.
For the mavs to be in this position they needed doncic to play better than ever with all the injuries and patched in roster
@@Seddysaid What an idiotic statement

@@12garkand kd
@@jacksonswartzer7440 yeah, I thought Bron/Steph/KD against MJ/Bird/Magic equals out
@12gark In reality, it probably goes Beon/Steph and KD's way. They may be older than the other trio when they played the 92 Olympics but Nick was right, Magic had retired, still great, but at the end. Bird could barely walk, let alone play. The only thing was Mj was in his prime.
Tbh, the trio for the 92 dream team was Mj/Charles and Scottie, that would be a better and tougher comparison
Yeah remember when Nick didn’t want Jokic to win back to back MVP because that’s only reserved for the greats. Then Jokic when to become exactly that… a great
Everybody who knows a little basketball Knows "nicko the Clown" is mostly Wrong
I really don't think we can call Jokic a great bro.. who has he beat? No Admiral, no Yao, no Shaq, no Duckworth, no Ewing, no Arvydis Sabonis.. he doesn't even play against any Dirks or Garnetts or Kemps or chucks, etc..
His only real competition has been Embiied and Nurkic... and Embiid usually beats him. Not a great yo

@@jdfraed123 off topic abit, but love your mention of Sabonis, sadly people will not understand as in NBA he was already past prime and without legs and not that hard to beat. Tho I think Sabonis at his peak was better than Jokic is at his, as Sabonis can do literally everything what Jokic now does + highflyer. Saying that, I for sure think that Jokic IS all time great, as he can do everything and beat opponents in alot of ways, not 1 dimensional like SHAQ for example (not shitting on SHAQ, 1 dimensional but hardy anyone stopped him).
“If he hasn’t won one” this ain’t a participation trophy 😂😂😂
jokic should won this year, but embiid winning last year is an evidence that it can be participation trophy lmao. I wish jokic won't get robbed another mvp he deserves.

Nick was right about the Warriors 😂. They got killed
Jokić was fifth in total points, third in total rebounds, second in total assists, and eighth in total steals. He’s the only player in NBA history to be top-10 in all four categories in a single season.
Nikola was the only player in the NBA that was top-15 in average points (twelfth), assists (fourth), and rebounds (fourth) this season.
Jokić led the entire league in on/off offensive efficiency with plus-18.9 points per 100 possessions.
He was first in total plus-minus at plus-682.
Jokić was first in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player), PER (Player Efficiency Rating), Win Shares, Offensive Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, Offensive Box Plus/Minus, and Defensive Box Plus/Minus.
Every single Nuggets starter had a higher effective field goal percentage with Jokić on the floor compared to him off it.
Jokić was the only player in the league that averaged at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. He's the sixth player to ever put up these numbers.
Nikola was second in total at-rim assists and total two-point assists.
He was first in total steals by a center.
Jokić was fifth in total deflections in the NBA.
He was second in the NBA in non-restricted painted area field goal percentage at 61.7 percent (minimum 100 attempts). This is typically where players take floaters and hook shots from.
He finished second in total points in the painted area.
Jokić was first in post-up points and assists.
He also led the league in total points and total assists from the elbows.
Jokić recorded the second-most double-doubles in the league with 68 and the second-most triple-doubles with 25.
Nikola had 21 games of 25-point triple-doubles, which led the league.

Nah because of the stats, and what, maybe like 10 MVP moments, and like 25 MVP “did you see that?!” Plays. Does SGA have 3 mvp moments? No
27/13/9 on 60% shooting & tied for the best record in the West.
All the nonsense Nick just said about the Dream Team and yet that team beat opponents by a record margin and no other Olympic teams since have been as dominant
To be fair, that's largely because there are a lot of REALLY good European players in the league now, like Luka and Joker, which make the European teams a lot more competitive than they were in 1992. But I agree that the Dream Team is GOATed.
Euro ball now is 1000x better now than it was back then. The dream team inspired a lot of people in Europe and you can see that influence now in the current NBA.
Back then the US were basically the only nation that played basketball seriously, the only other nation would be the Soviet Union but they were at War and imploding at the time. So saying the Dream team blew teams out more than modern Team USA doesn't really say anything
Colin was the one speaking nonsense about this current team. This team would beat the dream team

Agree Luka transformational player Irving playing good to
thats what i always said the sooner you play strongest team the better , so it is good for lakers to play Denver in the thirst round
I agree with both of these guys, on most topics, most of the time. I'm also a huge fan of both old-school NBA as well as the current NBA. With that said, the 92 Dream Team would cook the current team.
A lot of the guys for that dream team would be considered huge letdowns these days. Malone,Stockton, Barkley, obviously laetener. Mullins was just good, pippen was a #2 option at best, and at the time bird was still good but clearly a shell of his old self. The dream team guarding these guys 30 feet from the basket would be hilarious

The 2012 usa team was the best team they ever put out there 💯
Kyrie wasnt a bust anywhere especially not Cleveland
Best player on the best regular season team.
Luka and Joker both deserve the MVP this year. I would choose Joker, he's the more Valuable Player imo. But I would be happy if Luka won it. He had an amazing year.
Wright is the doctor of this league. He really really knows ball. 🏀
Saying “they don’t have another gear when they go into the playoffs” is hard to determine since YOUVE NEVER SEEN THEM IN THE PLAYOFFS 😂
The Knicks were not in the playoff last year? Wtf?
Why The Dream team even get brought up lol
But where is statistics that says Jokic is in top 4 statistical category, top 10 players, only in history. Where is advanced stats that says Jokic is the most efficient player? Where is PER. With u guys it's always cracked narative.
When Jokic was No6, hw played with Campazo, Burton, Morris...Get real!
I think the 08 team is the best compared to this one. At that time they were saying that team could contend with dream team
Luka's On/Off rating is no where near Jokers and its not even close.
Bird made the first basket in Dream Team competition..
I'm just curious when mvp favored advanced analytics over flat out production and stats. 🤷🏽♂️
Outside of the celtics i don't care about anybodys record cuz if that was the deciding factor then Tatum should be in top 3. Since it don't, every team that won 50 games is on even footing. Injuries cause losses and that can't be helped so a 1 to 7 game difference doesnt change much of anything, especially in a league we're half court buzzer beaters happen. So if it isn't going to the top winner, WITH the best stats, then idk what were doing.
Advanced analytics are literally designed to measure value. And Joker leads pretty much all of them.
It depends entirely on the rules. Hand check or no hand check? Offensive goal tending above the cylinder?
1992 team has better defenders and more size. 2024 team has better shooters. I'd take the 92 team mainly because MJ and Pippen wreak havoc on D, Magic is too big and strong at the point, and Barkley, Malone, Robinson and Ewing would dominate Embiid, Bam, and AD in the paint.
Plus you don't need to go 12 deep. Only 7 or 8 would get serious minutes.
Nicks a little nutty. Joker led his team to the Championship but didn't deserve the MVP....but Luka has a 5th place team and hasn't even seen the finals. He gives him the MVP....Then he blasts 4 guys on the Dream Team who didnt sniff a chapionship like Luka hasn't..... Hey Wright, nick off!!!
Lukaaa
I cant wait for the Warriors to get in

LUKA is MVP. Period.
He has been playing through injuries himself, showing up for games when team members are out for a month, sometimes two months, 73 and 50 pts nights, record number of triple doubles.
JOKIC has won two. There is not much separation individually between him and Luka. Luka deserves it more this year.
Nah, Joker leads in virtually every advanced stat that measures value: VOPR, Box +/-, PER, win shares, on/off and like 6 others. He means MORE to his team than any other player, which is the definition of most valuable, and he single-handedly carries Denver to be the best team in the league. It literally doesn't get any more MVP than that. Luka is having an amazing year that would be MVP worthy in most other years, but not this one.

I hate the word deserve. When they say Luka deserves the NBA MVP. In doing so, they are suggesting Luka possesses some quality beyond his performance on the court that makes his more worthy than Jokic. If Luka is named MVP it will be because he EARNED it.
The 1992 Dream Team got enough credit in real time… hahaha
Is it possible to really say Bill Russell’s Celtics who played against 8 teams can be the best dynasty while other dynasties had to play 27,28, 29 other teams over the years… no way
‘Statistically all 3 are great’ is such an oversimplification. By raw stats luka is markedly better, and by advanced stats jokic is significantly better. Their baselines are all great true but the differences matter in such a tight race. SGA should be unanimous 3rd as he has unquestionably the worst individual stat (when you considerbbox score and advanced stats collectively) and does not have the best team record (tied with denver) and he’s overcome the least amount of team injury.
When these two Guys bet against the Warriors, good things usually happen… let’s gooo
Lmaoooo

Collin’s weird underlying hate for Kyrie is one of the reasons this show has become unbearable….also the addition of Jmac
People seem to forget that the dream team was facing FAR WORSE international talent too. I'm pretty certain they faced 5 players who were in the NBA at that time. 2-3 of them were literally names you have never heard. The dream team was dominant....but the level of opposition was GARBAGE
Everyone sleeping on SGA only one of these 3 that is a true 2 way player. 2nd in the league in ppg, 1st in steals. Doesn’t get nearly as many calls as other stars in the league. Hopefully he shows it in the playoffs.

That is DEFINITELY N O T a winning USA Team
I don’t understand how everyone thought embiid was a lock over jokic before he got hurt and then Luka has the same scoring 10 rebounds and 10 assists but then he’s not the lock over jokic

@@garyco766 1 nobody should be using all the advanced stats because I guarantee if I asked you to name everything that goes into the algorithm for each of those stats you’d have to look it up
2 jokic on off numbers don’t impress me because the reason is less to do with him and more to do with the fact that Denver doesn’t have a backup center. Yes they have 37 year old deandre Jordan who played 36 games but you don’t get to credit a bad backup to jokic being that good. If any other team has no backup they’ll have great on off numbers too.
Imagine in baseball one team has Marco Scutaro as a backup shortstop (a position that he played) and another team has David Ortiz (who only ever played designated hitter) obviously the team with Ortiz can’t field when the starter is out
Luka hasn't had to " overcome Kyrie's drama". That's a stupid take. Kyrie has been great in Dallas and enjoys playing there. Luka had a great year statistically and has an MVP argument to make. Jokic will probably win though.
Cowherd got cooked in his olympics argument lmao
Ill admit Luka has had an amazing season, and I do think he deserves MVP...but Jokic deserves it more imo. Hes still the best player in the league and is tied for the 1 seed.
Also, on all 3 of Jokic's MVPs, Nick has been a staunch critic. He initially said Jokic was the worst MVP in 40 years. Then he said he didn't deserve back to back and that it would make the award irrelevant. Then, Jokic had an incredibly dominant Finals run and Nick was silent. NOW im supposed to care about his opinion of Jokic??
He won at 6th seed omg. Wtf luka do like 50 15 15 wtf. Also half season he had injured team. Luka def deserved it.
