The psychological horror follows the story of a woman who is desperately competing for the love and attention of her self-important older poet husband. LOL anybody from Pewdiepie?
Yup
this must hurt so bad after his video of celebs using those events to promote themself...
Hearing her process, she is obviously and truly gifted. Glad to hear she's found new challenges. I remember after Winter's Bone just asking myself "who is this girl??" then being completely shocked meeting Jennifer Lawrence through the press, she was a completely different person!
Looking forward to her new film. Thanks for this respectful interview that (cuts out all the bullshit) and focuses on the craft, Vice.
VICE did you think of making your content any more available too? I've been a fan of vices content for a long time but I am in no way gunna go outta my way to sign up for tv to watch one channel, please for the love of all that is good make this content streamable. I'm never gunna finish weediquette when I can't even be a fan. All I see is little snippets on commercials and I'm like damn I wish it was even possible for me to watch that
This was her best and hardest performance to date and it wasn't even nominated.
Her performance was just as good as Natalie Portman's performance in Darren Aronofsky's other movie Black Swan.
BRUUUH!!!
there you see why nominations mean nothing. it isn´t really about how well one has done or what he or she achieved. it´s more like a popularity contest.
I don't understand the hate with Jennifer Lawrence. I thought she was great in this film!
Everyone has haters on the internet.
I just watched this movie. I do not think it was promoted well. I believe, in time, this movie will be considered a masterpiece with an amazing concept and very well played.
The worst movie I've seen that had A-list actors except maybe The Fifth Element. He wrote it in five days... that explains a lot. It's a movie where you feel like the producer owes you money for watching it. Apparently, you had a different experience.
@@SaudaraLink obviously
This movie changed my life. Absolutely brilliant.
@@zoecain123 how it changed? The good or bad?
@@zoecain123 bet u dont wanna be mother anymore🤣
This movie is definitely not for everyone. I also think that a lot of people who dislike the movie just not understand the whole metaphor, which is fine. I really liked it, but it's definitely different.
Kelly van Schaick was there a good justified ending?
trish jones no her husbands followers killed a newborn baby and ate it. Awful
Gabrielle did not get it...
After watching this movie, i have to say how the story was potrayed, along with the symbolism is very intruiging, but tbh id never would want to watch this movie again
Yes explain me the metaphor why Eva insulting Mother Nature for not wearing Sexy Dessous to amuse God!?
The movie trying to be poetic or intellectuel. And the message is kinda boring, too obvious. I only appreciate the idea a new interpretation of the creation story. Erverythingelse was pain to watch intellectuel.
Jennifer: mother nature
The husband: god
Old man: Adam
Cocky wife: Eve
Two brothers: Adam’s sons.
House: earth
Their room: Garden of eden
Strangers: human
Baby: Child of God/Christ
Murdering and eating child: Crucifixion Eating the flesh of Christ and drinking his blood
Flood: diluvium phenomenon
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you... makes a lot of sense now.
I think that the Garden of Eden is the men’s office no ?
Garden of Eden was his office. Also the place where 'the apple' (the stone) was broken by adam and Eve. He then locked his office
The diamond/rock: mother’s heart
from wikipedia
In an interview, Lawrence stated that the film is an allegory; she said that the film "depicts the rape and torment of Mother Earth ... I represent Mother Earth; Javier, whose character is a poet, represents a form of God, a creator; Michelle Pfeiffer is an Eve to Ed Harris's Adam, there's Cain and Abel and the setting sometimes resembles the Garden of Eden".[6]
Aronofsky said that the exclamation mark in the title "reflects the spirit of the film" and corresponds to an "exclamation point" of the ending. The director discussed the film's unusual choice of not capitalising the letter 'm' in the title during a Reddit interview, saying, "To find out why there's a lowercase 'm', read the credits and look for the letter that is capitalised. Ask yourself what's another name for this character?" The characters' names are all shown in lowercase, except for Him.[6]
The lighter which appears throughout the film bears the Wendehorn, a symbol that represents "the cooperation between nature's eternal laws, working in effect and in accordance with each other." One of the film's unexplained elements is the yellow powder Lawrence's character drinks, which The Daily Beast suggests is a reference to Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story "The Yellow Wallpaper".[6]
she must win the oscar because of this
this movie was beautiful, intense, and heartbreaking. after this movie i couldn’t even move, and i was crying so hard. the fact that this isn’t recognized enough is my opinion is insulting
After reading the plot I am scared to watch this
@@novemberskiess1795 It's a nightmare on wheels
I loved it and hated it so much, it hurts but it's also amazing idk 😶 I remember when I first watched it years ago and still hurts
It was sad but the movie/storyline sucked.
I felt very saddened for her character I genuinely did. The immense distress and mental and physical pain and pressure she has to endure upon her fake life and not know it all along.
This movie was a masterpiece on its own, the casting couldn’t have been better and the fact that people are hating on Jennifer Lawrence is just not understandable, she was the perfect role and she played her part perfectly. Sad to see this movie not yet the recognition it deserves. After watching this film, I can say that I won’t be sleeping at night, as I will be thinking of their art work instead.
I admired her acting in this movie. This was her best acting yet (next was The Hunger Games). I love her. She’s a great actress!
To me the character embodied the idea of “I was just born and didn’t ask to be here” and I would say the baby scene also reflects that. Like this is life and it’s bewildering
Her skin looks amazing
Seriously I think she is great... as an actress and a person she's awesome!
i just finished watching "mother!" with my sister. after watching it, it left a heavy feeling in my stomach. something that i can't explain. this was such a masterpiece and i would do anything just to feel what i felt when i first watched it.
One of the best films ever made
Jennifer stuns me more and more with every new project she's taking on . And I cannot wait for the day when she's going to direct movies herself. Yes, yes, yes. I kinda want to protect her so much. Which is funny because I think she's very strong and would easily manage to protect us all, lol.
I met Jlaw at Heine Bros, she is chill as fuck.
Louisville REPRESENT
Genius movie, one day this movie will be recognised for its meaning and how genius it really is, it’s not for everyone and that’s fine, it’s out of its time and one day it’ll get the recognition it deserves
I JUST WATCHED THE MOVIE ITS WONDERFULL ALL ACTORS ARE AMAZING J LAW WOW REALLY MAKE ME CRY.
If you read the biblia you understand the movie
@@janaslili stop letting satanic people define who God is. I watched the film, it was clearly a disgusting depiction of God. The person who wrote it is sick and clearly is biased to believe this is what Christianity is. A sick cult. Little did they know the person who wrote it was probably involved in some sort of satanism. Right (Now im crazy) This shit is real. If you read the gospel, you'd understand that Jesus wasn't just human. He was God in human form. He is God. What they were doing is satanic practice. Usually involves sexual practices and children (God's innocent creation). Jesus loves children and He told us we must become like them to enter the kingdom of heaven. Satan takes the innocence of a child, and destroys it. That is why there are so many pedophiles and satanic people in hollywood. (Pizzagate) You can say. it's not real. But you probably didn't know that Hillary Clinton was recently in court for mutilating and murdering a ten year old kid. You guys have no idea what's happening and whats real or not. Some of your favorite celebrities are part of it. Isaac Kappy warned us. Then all of a sudden he 'Committed Suicide' same with Kurt Cobain. You all need Jesus because this world is filled with unimaginable evil and you guys will be brainwashed to believe it's not by the people you admire on tv. Pretty sure the writer in this film is part of it all. Look up Isaac Kappy, he called the celebs out. He died days later.
@@User-hy6ur U should say we all need humanity instead of Jesus. Jesus doesn't exist in some region or other planet.
I just saw the movie and it literally tells you everything about life itself
I think I've never seen her this beautiful. Lovely hoarse voice, a sort of French detachment...
She's gorgeous and an amazing actress. Most of you seem to know her personally, insane.
Jennifer Lawrence is beautiful. Everybody still wish she would be in the Hunger Games again.
Why all the dislikes? Darren Aronofsky made Requiem for a dream!
Oh I see why this video is full of dislikes - she doesn't like trump
There are dislikes because she's an ignorant moron who said mother nature is angry and hurricanes happen because Trump was elected.
TheKnightBlade4 it’s a joke grow up
I've just watched the film, I don't get why she didn't get more recognition
Thanks so much for this. I saw Mother! yesterday and was blown away. The final reel had a huge effect on me and reached a really deep level. I'll be pondering the allegory for weeks...
* mother!
Shes such an incredible actress and every film she's in she completely steals the spotlight. It's too bad I'm wayyy to afraid of horror movies to go near this movie!
Lula Mae Its not a horror movie
Mia Mindyourownbusiness is what horror alright ....
the film is incredible. definitely not for everyone- but it's a masterpiece that leaves you questioning life in the finale
I really like the questions! Good interview!
Why do trump fans call out 'lefties' for getting triggered, but if anyone says anything about trump just go mad?
anderson Smith they're childish hypocrites like their leader
Because its only lefties that come up with stupid shit like trigger warnings, safe spaces and special pronouns... seriously you need to ask why?
that is just how cuckservatives work, welcome to 2017
Btw she fucked Harvey Weinstein for a trophy. Very high standards, she has.
anderson Smith Nothing to do with Trump. These crazy lefties are triggered by everything long before Trump. All these liberal movie stars are complete hypocrites. Imagine this... Beverly hills suddenly has a huge influx of Muslims. Many mosques built. Five times a day they hear the call to pray. How long do you think before the sell and move? Immigrants are like nuclear power plants for Hollywood liberals. You can build them...just not in their backyards. They're so full of shit it's laughable. And any person who buys into theirs horseshit is a loser.
Jennifer had this really amazing glow on her face in this interview. I love it ! I can't help noticing it
I LOVED this movie. So intense and emotional. I had to pause several times to take in what just happened. It was very unique and scary in its own way. I can’t watch it again but it will live in my head forever
i love her LEO energy 😭😭❤️
So many creepy comments about how hot and beautiful these women are instead of talking about how tense and beautifully stressful this film was.
Movie was awesome. She is stunning
Until the interviewer brought up black swan I never realized how similar Jennifer and Natalie sound
Damn he wrote the script in five days?!? I've been working on my second script for like a year now.
This is the kind of content you get when you use all your interesting segments for your HBO series. Your CZcams audience gets the leftovers no one is willing to pay you for but you want to squeeze a little from ad revenues.
Please bring back amazing documentaries that created your fan base originally. It's been a few years now since I found a segment from vice that I really enjoyed.
I saw a ghost in the window...
Me too...
Zak Bagans I never believed in ghosts until I came face to face with one
Lol
Why is everyone hating on her she actually hasn't done anything wrong and has so much talent, she is also so stunning
so much hate for Jeniffer Lawrence... Damn!
she genuinely did such a good job watched it twice and loved it both times
The fact she laughed at the question when she was asked if she was okay after the movie tells you everything… I hope she is not terribly nor profoundly traumatized
The interviewer is so stunning!
Wonder how Jenifer felt after shooting the film?
wow she is so gorgeous i can not focus
This movie was a masterpiece! I was so consumed while watching the film. I felt the frustration and exhaustion of what was being portrayed. Pretty deep movie
one of the weirdest disturbing movies I've seen in a while I loved it 🎬
Her best movie was on her phone
Oh My Lord, just came to see this after watching the movie Mother, Oh God, insane omg! You guys, recommend watching it!
The director abused the crap out of her and she said she would never do a movie like this again. I watched it myself and it's an allegorical criticism of Christianity. This film is extremely traumatizing to watch and anyone who enjoys watching it should seek professional help.
I agree
She’s a complete artist
4:08 me af
She's so gorgeous. 😩
Where is the interview with Michele Fifer?
I love the movie, I'm so glad she's in it.
Not super into Lawrence specifically but the movie seems interesting simply because it's a horror film that actually stars major actors
Wow Michelle Pfeiffer has not aged!
Amazing...still looks damn fine
She was amazing in this movie qnd every movie she does..huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence ❤
Flawless and she's so beautiful
A very good actress Jennifer Lawrence. I seen this movie and it reminds me of my place back in the day when I used to party. With friends and friends of friends moving in like squatters, and after throwing them out, some bodily, things got back to normal again.
I've always been a fan of her as a person but I was of the opinion that she is slightly overrated as an actress, until I saw this film. She really is amazing in this film, the slow build of the destruction of her character is masterfully played, it will make you want to scratch your eyes out how patient her character is until suddenly she isn't. I hated watching this film but actually that's the point, if you hated it then it's a job well done.
She asked Jen what would a movie directed by her look like, and then suddenly an annotation for a video called "Life as a Truck Stop Stripper" appeared. Ouch.
She is awesome, someone who does a film with stuff she wasn't comfortable with for her audience.
This movie works at so many levels, it's the most decent piece of explanation for our own disgusting behavior since day 1 on planet earth that somebody could ever provide specially to all religious communities. Thank you, Darren.
It shows that he wrote it in 5 days. It's like student fiction writing
Jennifer Lawrence is, without a doubt, one of THE most beautiful women in the whole world! Hands down! 😍
I don’t know much about the religious metaphors in this movie but from what I do know I’m freaked out
The only thing i think of mother is that song by danzig.
J. Law = Perfection
As an actress, she is AMAZING to say the least. However the film Mother! Itself was a bit (or a lot) over the top. It was crossing so many lines yet the metaphoric meaning does kinda make sense when studying the characters. But you definitely have to watch it with the meaning behind it already in mind so it doesn’t make you feel like “what in the world did I just watch?” and feel so disturbed by it. I hope Jennifer wasn’t affected by the acting because she really did act it out phenomenally and so believable.
The only reason I watched this is because Jennifer Lawrence is in it. I didn't look at the rating or read the description, I just love her. Halfway through this movie I started realizing how damn stressed out I felt. I thought, "I'm about to read this description to find out what in the hell this movie is supposed to be about." I was seriously pissed off for some reason. I read that it was a psychological-horror film. When there was about five minutes left and a horrible scene had just happened, I turned the damn movie OFF and started fucking literally screaming and punching shit. No lie. No movie has ever affected me like this one. I looked up the meaning of "psychological-horror" and it states, "Psychological horror is a subgenre of horror and psychological fiction that relies on mental, emotional and psychological states to frighten, disturb, or unsettle readers, viewers, or players." THAT AIN'T NO DAMN LIE. THIS MOVIE FUCKED ME UP. It completely shifted my mood and had me so gosh damn mad at NOTHING. I never hit stuff but I punch my bedside table. I haven't been that mad in a long ass time and I had to scream just to get my damn anger out!!! I'll never forget this movie, that's for sure. The ending pieced it together and made me feel better.
They both have beautiful skin.
The endorsement of this iconic actor will help cement this movie as, I think, one of the most pertinent of the 21st century so far. A sensitive but brutal comment that, in these times, the most destructive thing can be human hysteria.
2017- 2022. Mother help us
If u think this movie is bad please watch it ; and then search on youtube the explanation of the movie ; after that u would understand everything and see why this movie is good ; this movie is masterpiece; watch it ; very good movie.
This is one of my favorite movies ever. I didn't and don't care for Jennifer Lawrence in general but she was amazing in this. We truly have ruined our planet.
I still need a child. I don't appreciate being alone
Esse filme é incrível uma obra de arte
"I thought I saw a ghost." "Are you sure you're feeling okay after this film?" She either saw a ghost out the window or she's low-key spooked with the fact that the interviewer looks like Anna Farris and her little marriage breaking romance with Chris Pratt is now haunting her!!! *Ooooooo*
sublimeluv7 they both denied she's the reason for the split but alright
Oh yeah, cool stuff! Thanks for notifying! *thumbs up*
This should've been a Netflix exclusive, not worth the space in theaters, same for that other movie that came out recently with the black kid, his dog, parents, and a virus.
What's the dislike about? This is the best movie. It's not everyone's cup of tea to understand and also accept. Results are human cant do no good.
Ok i haven't watched this yet but everyone is saying it's one of the most disturbing films they've ever seen. Someone tell me what to expect
why so many downvotes ?
This movie was great it highly disturbed me to the point where I cried, but it was still good. If she doesn't get any awards for her acting i would b3 shocked!
Where is the spoiler alert
Can someone please explain what's going on? Why so many dislikes? I don't follow anything that JL does so I'm not sure why everyone hates her
she blame trump for the hurricane
sherwin obenza lol thats why? Jesus people are so damn sensitive
Rose Gold Trumpettes believe, she claimed that Trump is responsible for the hurricanes which she, of course, did not. However, the Trumpies love that. Nothing is fake news when it fits their worldview.
She's one of the rare persons true to themselves in Hollywood, while at the same time kind, openminded. A lot of people don't live up at that and can probably easily form disdain towards people in the limelight with such qualities.
Wow guys that's very bizarre 🤔
One of the greatest pieces of art I've ever seen in my life.
I watched the movie when it came out in theaters. Thinking it was a horror flick....I loathed it. But after multiple reviews and debated. I watched again without the horror genre pretense and the movie is genius! The marketing was all wrong and ruined the movie.
I love her... she is stunning
who can take this actress seriously anymore
Forreal*
Mauw Chan not me
what did she do?
Brad Gilbert said that the hurricanes were Gods wrath for voting for trump
+OutdoorsUnlimited 101 seriously?
Stop hating bunch of irrelevant bitter trolls lol.
Can't wait to watch this movie. Love Jennifer
What a great movie!!
In America we call it EarthBound Beginnings.
I hope this interviewer is ok. She could really benefit from just sitting up straight.
Make Vice Great Again
Whoever did her makeup.... damn
*Host:* “What’s your worst ‘Junk it’ question?”
*Jennifer:* “What drew you to the script?”
*Host:* “Oh sh#t!”
*Jennifer:* “It’s the best question, it’s just the most asked.”
*Host:* “That is on my list.”
*Jennifer:* “That is on your list.”
*Host:* “I’m just going to take that one off.”
*Jennifer:* *Silence*
*Host:* “What made you want to work with Darren Aronofsky?”
So she’s still going to get the answer for that question... just in a different way. 😄😅
