Important note: I left out a detail that might help some people with the initial setup of OneDriver. When you first launch it, click the "+" button! That's how you'll login to OneDrive and set your folder.
Jason thank you for your work. However in some distros does not works. I love mx linux, but after click in the plus button and choose the folder does not appear the login page. So I use pop os that works fine.
"we use the tools that are right for us". Can't agree more. And nice to see some non-gaming related stuff. Appreciate it
It's always nice to run into more open-minded people :D
Oh sick. I use OneDrive too but always get bummed out when I use Linux that I could only get my file through the browser. Thank you again for showing me something useful!
I've been looking for a solution like this for a long time! Thanks so much!
Thank you very much, it works. This was something I really missed when I work on my Linux Laptop.
Those keyboard pictures are clean enough to use as a wallpaper!
Haha well thank you! If you're a keyboard geek, I can send you the full resolution pics. Just email me at linuxforeveryone@pm.me
@@LinuxForEveryone Thanks a lot for the offer! give me a bit and ill definitely shoot you a message
WOW!! Jason you rock my world. Ive been using Linux for a while now, but have been struggling with the OneDrive syncing issue. I love the OneDrive Service for my file storage and it is so much easier as everyone else in my house is a Windows User (School requirements, so cant quite switch them over to Linux yet). Rclone has always been a big pain in the butt!! But I've just installed this whilst sitting in my "studio c" waiting for my kids to finish activities and its great!!
Thanks for sharing. Love listening to your Pod Cast and now enjoying your video content. Keep Up The Great Work!
You bet, Greg!
And good news on the podcast front -- soon you'll be able to watch it right here, as it's getting 2 additional hosts (Schykle and Jerry Morrison) and transforming to a video-first production!
No worries if you prefer audio though -- it'll come down the same RSS feed you're already subscribed to.
This is amazing!!! A big thanks to the development team!! Hoping to see the developers also add SharePoint functionality next!
rclone let me down. It would not sync / delete files properly. So I stopped using it.
Ahhh! The beautiful, azure, bountiful, peaceful Adriatic Sea! Thank you for this video and I hope you continue to enjoy Croatia!
I have got to check this out! Thanks for the video.
Hope you like it!
You live in Croatia? Awesome! I recall my vacations in Dalmatia very fondly. A beautiful country, although meals are... expensive ;), so I enjoyed more nature and beautiful old cities and that not far from Poland - just 13-16 hours of drive, and I'm there. I hope to visit Croatia again.
I believe that area is my super expensive, especially during tourist season.
And you did your vacation right. The culture and the history here is amazing.
Get your ass out of bed at 3am and go have a nice dinner there
Awesome stuff. I'm gonna give it a go!
gonna try this soon, thanks!
Insync also does a nice job, and handles google drive as well. You have to pay for it, but it's $30 forever, and you can use it on any number of machines.
That's about what I paid for Aptik, and that has been worth every penny. Thanks for the suggestion!
Another vote for InSync. Support is very responsive and pleasant, works very well.
I love it as well; but it's $30 per account.
@@luv2code I use it for my google drive and my onedrive, and I didn't pay separately. That being said, I've been using it for years, so perhaps I'm grandfathered in in some way.
InSync unfortunately doesn't support on-demand sync (sync only when you use a file) which makes it mostly useless for large libraries.
Hello friend. I'm new to Linux and I wanted to ask, is the desktop/window theme you have a customized one, or can I download it somewhere? I'm on Mint 20.
Always love seeing a little bit of Croatia in your videos! Although I'll admit I get a bit jealous.
I use OneDrive at work so this is really helpful.
We want video like this ...make our life easier ☺️
thanks for video. this is amazing. is it possible to sync one directional sync?
Interesting - didn't know about that. Currently using Insync, commercial app, to sync Onedrive and Ubuntu 20.04. Works well for me.
A LOT of people have mentioned Insync here in the comments, and it does look like a great app.
@@LinuxForEveryone Never had a problem with it thus far. I would put it as "Recommended" for those who can't be bothered looking for a 'free' solution. And the cost, really, is trivial.
When you are done editing on your machine is there the option to free up space and only keep the most recent version in the cloud?
Finally after this tut i managed to install onedrive huh thanks
Would this be more advantageous than using rclone?
I've been using it for my Plex server so that's all I know right now :P
Nice, are there any good clients for other Cloud Storage services like Google Drive, iCloud etc?
Amazing - Finally!!!
I too use OneDrive as my cloud solution. No shame with that. I have been syncing it using rclone, but it's not great. I'll sure try onedriver out. Thanks
Indeed. rclone is one robust piece of software, it's just not the easiest to use.
someday you'll wake up and realize that microsoft is definately not your friend.
@@charlesselrachski34 is this a warning or something? xD
@@charlesselrachski34 I already know that, why do you think we are linux users? There's always one guy browbeating those already on his team.
Will this work on the new Zorin 16.3 OS?
thank you very much..
Ha! Not often do you run into a video promoting your own country when searching for a Linux tutorial. Thanks for info about OneDriver!
Kudos for the puppy content!
Right Leg Hospital, Left Leg Cemetery. ~ Mirko Cro Cop one of my fav and the only athlete i know from Croatia..
Thanks, man!
Dang it!! I wish I knew this before buying an Insync license!!
This programme is incredible, I am now sponsoring Jeff Stafford for this amazing work
appricate the slay dog appearance 😁👍
Have a TUXEDO laptop question. I bought one of the Pulse 15's. There was a delay in shipping due to supply demands. When it arrived I was disappointed it came with a non-standard US keyboard. There are backslash keys where the left shift and right return "should" be. It looks like I made a mistake when ordering, did not know there was another US keyboard layout. I have been typing since 1979, just saying. So I posted a support request with TUXEDO. Received an automated reply. It has been over a week and no one from TUXEDO had replied. I have heard people in Europe take like a month off in the summer. If this is the case, someone should man the ship to keep up with support calls. Q: How long is "normal" for TUXEDO to reply to a support email? My ugly American expectation no greater than 1-business day... I wonder if I made an expensive mistake, hope not.
Garret, I'm going to take care of this for you. I'll post a screenshot of this message inside of their company-wide Rocket Chat. Sorry you're having this kind of trouble.
my music folder has 80 GB
proudly gathering since 2002
1:45 go go
Works fine, but I can't find a way to access folders shared with me by others. Is there a way to enable this?
Running perfectly on my Pinebook Pro running Manjaro ARM
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Didn't know you live in Croatia I'm from there, thats funny we should get a beer one day
Out of curiousity. how does it's ease of use and polish compare to a rclone remote?
This is not a sync client. You just need to touch this sw interface to actually login to your account.
@@engidiogo rclone is both.
If this was header less it would be perfect as I could mount a Samba in an lxc container and the os just syncs the files. That would be perfect for me as I have 6 OneDrive accounts
Brother it has one prblm, after upload 2 gb, it has error connection
Thanks man ^_^ .
I think I'm gonna get me a Tuxedo Pulse. The only thing stopping me at the moment is it's deliberately labelled "Gen 1", and I know as soon as I buy it, "Gen 2" is gonna hit the market.
Being an early adopter is tough, I know! But man the battery life on that thing is SO good already, and it's a powerhouse.
I used another onedrive client for linux and it was complicated i typed some command wrong and deleted a whole folder :/ Thank you i will surely switch to this client looks way more simple
Even though I didn't ever show the client! (Whoops)
It's seriously easy though. Just launch it and hit the + button to add your OneDrive account and... that's basically it!
How can i get rid local files after downloaded?
I use MEGA out on New Zealand. If Billy G gets his nose in that they're finished. Same for Canonball Inc
Hi, I'm new to linux, can someone please help me install it? I need it to sync my school OneDrive. Greetings
"files are only downloaded when you want to sue them" - So if you're offline, you can't access them? Is that the default or a mode you can choose?
Files you've opened previously will be available even if your computer has no access to the internet. The filesystem becomes read-only if you lose internet access, and automatically enables write access again when you reconnect to the internet.
@@LinuxForEveryone That's going to be a huge deal-breaker for a lot of potential users, I expect.
@@BenjaminKramer
There are only 5 reliable ways to access OneDrive on Linux:
- Via the OneDrive for Linux client - github.com/abraunegg/onedrive - this 'syncs' your data, bi-directional operation, open source and free
- Via the 'onedriver' client - github.com/jstaf/onedriver - Native file system that only provides 'on-demand' functionality, open source and free
- Via 'rclone' - rclone.org/ - one way sync client, open source and free
- Via 'insync', 'ExpanDrive' - non-free client
- Via the web browser of your choice
eeeh! i guess this is not working on Gnome 40, didnt work for the app is installed and i add files but where i can enter my onedrive account ?
When you launch OneDriver, just click the little "Plus" + button and then you'll sign into your OneDrive account.
@@LinuxForEveryoneyeah i press the + but no login window is promoted xd. never mind i must create a new file in order to login.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but OneDrive has long been the most cost effective 6 TB of cloud storage available.
Yea pretty much. You get 1 + 5 (I think?) Extra 1tb accounts in the o365 family option for around $100 a year?
Prettt much all the features you'd want including performant hosting of assets with sharing and embed options for any file or folder.
It's really the only big tech proprietary service I've had a hard time justifying moving from.
Croatia is a beautiful country
I like Expandrive on linux
Oh, I hadn't heard of that one!
once upon a time I used google drive in linux... it was TERRIBLE as syncing.
A comment regarding screen casts - using dark theme makes it really hard to figure out what is going on.
Mmm, that's good feedback. Thanks for saying so.
I completely disagree. I think using a light theme makes it hard to figure out what's going on. It's harder to read dark text against a light background. @2:20 the left side of the screen is far easier to read than the right side. Just my 2 cents.
@@lenonkitchens7727 apparently this is also subjective...
@@guss77 Clearly, but very little these days isn't. ;)
@@guss77 Probably depends a lot on monitor settings and quality as well.
About that easy way: yeah it's not that easy if you don't drive linux daily.
Wont this expose our personal data to an untrusted 3rd party server?
No content, just bullshit blah blah
How useless!
