- Are you feeling stressed? Are you interested in a relaxing, cozy gaming experience where you maintain a farm or village of animals? If so, you just might be interested in life simulation games! Life simulation video games are one of my personal favorite genres of games and there are a ton of diverse, interesting, and charming life sims out there, but if you're new to this genre it can be a bit difficult to find that perfect game for you. Well, in this practical guide, I discuss a variety of different subgenres of life sims and provide some good games to start with if you're interested in trying out that subgenre. From universally loved staples like Animal Crossing and the Sims to gems like Fantasy Life and Boku No Natsuyasumi, this video details a ton of games that are worth your time, so hopefully you can walk away from it with a new game or two to add to your wishlist. Thanks so much for watching. If you enjoy this video, feel free to leave a like or subscribe for more content like this. And if you have a suggestion for a game that wasn't in this video, leave a comment below with a pitch about that game and why it's great. Who knows, I may even do a follow-up to this video down the road with the suggestions given in the comments. If you read this far in the description, thanks so much. I've got a lot of new ideas for videos and I hope that you enjoy them :)

Thanks so much for watching! Leave a suggestion for a life sim in the comments that I should try!
You may have tried it since you went through the Sim games, but Sid Meier’s SimGolf is very fun!
fun fact: the sims is how i decided to go into architecture. life sims are life altering! 😂
oh i don’t actually think i knew that! that’s so dope hahaha
While I’m not the biggest fan of life-sims, I’ve logged many hours into them. Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, Nintendogs, SimCity, SimGolf, MySims, Animal Crossing, and, most recently, Stardew Valley have crawled their way into my heart with their charm. I say that I’m not the biggest fan because I do not like to grind for as many hours as I used to, but I do visit them from time to time to experience their relaxing elements and foster my creativity.
Thanks so much for watching!! it’s cool getting to hear how even if most of the games in this genre might not appeal to you, some of them still were able to captivate you. It’s cool just how expansive and diverse this genre is.
the king 👑 is BACK!!!
hahaha thank you for watching!! i appreciate it!
I'm not sure if SPORE is considered one game from this genre, but i seem to have fondness for the monster creator.
Thanks for watching! I think SPORE would definitely count as a life sim, or at the very least comes pretty close to the other games on this list and is worth a mention for sure!
I think what makes life simulation such an interesting genre is that since you're in control of the environment, no one will ever have the same experience that you do. And with (usually) no definitive goals, there's really not a wrong way to play them. I unfortunately haven't played too many of these games, but the list you've shared really goes to show just how expansive this genre is.
Animal Crossing will likely always be my favorite. I've already talked about how I got into the series and my love for it in one of your previous videos, so I'll keep it brief. But feeling your town and the residents you live with grow with you in real-time and having it mirror the real world makes the experience feel real in its own right. It genuinely changed my life for the better. I've dabbled into Tomodachi Life a bit and loved it, but I stopped caring after two weeks since I felt like I saw everything. I'd love to see a sequel on Switch that expands on the original ideas tenfold. And I picked up Nintendogs since it was the only game on 3DS that interested me until Super Mario 3D Land came out. Still a cute time though, and I'd like to revisit it despite my toy poodle (who I believe I named Inky) being long dead by now.
As for the ones I haven't played, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons has always been a franchise I'm aware of but never looked into that much. I feel like if I were to start anywhere, I'd say Friends of Mineral Town is my best bet. And Stardew Valley has been on my to-do list for a long time, so I hope to get around to that one sometime soon. As for the city builders, RollerCoaster Tycoon looks the most appealing to me. I played quite a bit of Thrillville on the PS2 which is similar, but you walk around the park yourself and there's a lot more limitations. I never heard of Boku no Natsuyasumi, but the way you described it seemed like the perfect childlike experience, so I hope those fan translations progress well. And Doshin the Giant and Ooblets I have vague knowledge of, but now seem like games I wanna try, especially Ooblets. Side tangent, I never bothered with The Sims, but I did play MySims a lot on the Wii, and I think I have trouble sleeping to this day because of it. One last thing I wanted to bring up, but it looks like you're already aware of Poglings. I'm not backing the game myself, but I hope it turns out well.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!! I’m glad to hear that you were able to find some games that appealed to you in this video and it’s awesome hearing your experience as a fellow fan of the games that you mentioned here! I’m interested to hear if any of these games wind up being something you enjoy!
Also, as a side note, yes I am aware of Poglings! I’m hoping for nothing but the best for its development and look forward to playing it once it’s out. Its premise seems right up my alley haha
I have always been interested in moonlighter which isn’t quite a true blue life sim but I like how it blends life sim and dungeon crawlers. I also just wanted to say that I recently subscribed to this channel and am so so glad that I did. You da best!
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing, I greatly appreciate it! i’ll definitely keep an eye on moonlighter, that premise sounds pretty interesting!
This video itself is classified as a Life Sim. Great work! ☺️
Haha thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it!
"Watching Mark Haha Simulator"
Tomodachi life is the most I have been invested in a life sim ever
I've always wanted to give this genre a go even though I have had experience playing Animal Crossing New Leaf and Horizons.
Thanks so much for watching! i hope that this game provided you with a game or two to try out to get into this genre!
That Viva Piñata game seems pretty neat
yeah it’s fire you just gotta get past the comic sans
holy viva pinata (the nostalgia !!!!)

I miss playing the sims 3 but it's so expensive to get also sims 2 I tought I could buy it for my win 10 but aparently not unless it's second hand and I don't really wanna but sims 4 DLC AGAIN! Cause they switched to another platform witch was origin in witch windows 10 played The sims 4 but no longer so I lost many money on the game :v
