Bruce Dickinson is a fan of Van Der Graaf Generator. Peter Hammill was a big inspiration for his style of singing.
Val Doonican had 2 copies of this album; i was his milkman. He gave me one of the copies one Christmas bcuz he was too tight to get his wallet out. Irish git.

When the paraffin for the flame runs out and theres no harbour left to gain and then the silent voice appears lamenting "alone, alone..." - thats my fav moment in prog i think
Think you would love Änglagård. They were pioneers in bringing prog back in the early 90's. Anything by them would be great. Try e.g. the song Jordrök (instrumental, but any singing from them is in Swedish anyway so...)

@@Gedo_ Van der Graaf ripped off Maiden? This is 1971, 9 years before IM's first album. Also Camel's first album was in 1973. VdGG didn't rip off anyone - totally original band and how can you listen to this EPIC without at least glancing at the lyrics? VdGG is different than other bands because the words are just as important as the music - they go together.
