KC 50 #37 : The ConstruKction Of Light (Commentary) 00:00:00 (track) 00:02:08 - Hudba
A very underrated album in my view. I understand why a lot of people don’t like it. But trust me, it’s a lot better than most modern prog albums nowadays.
I think it's too heavy for a lot of progheads. But not for this metalhead.
It's too intelligent for rock radio stations let alone classic rock (which it isn't).
5:17 is totally insane. How could they even record that? It's like every instrument is in its own world but connected at the same time
It's called "Jazz", bro :-)
Belew and Fripp are possible the most dynamic guitar duo in rock history.....they're amazing!
One of the definitive KC tracks. My favorite along with Level Five!
Oh yes. They’re both crimson classics.
The first time I heard this, i thought "WTF?", but after a couple more listens, it's now on high rotate in my lounge. What a superb piece of music. And wonderful vocals by the ever-awesome Adrian Belew.
this one is one of the top 20 of my favorite crimson songs
If Tony Levin said, it must be so: one of the best touch guitar bass lines ever written. And that of course is expansible to all of Gunn's material.
Excellent song & album! This is one of my Top 3 KC on rotation.
Nice Reconstruktion of Light
Wow... Mastelloto drums are amazing! This is a great masterpiece
Super. Pure. Reminds me of Fripp's "Exposure" album.
The king keep going on their merry way ..🎁🎸🎷🎵
is great to hear this alternative version ... but NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL !!!! one of my favorite KC´s tracks , a master piece !
I was hoping so much you'll do this one. One of my top favourites!
" The quality of artistry is the capacity to assume innocence at will, the quality of experiencing innocence as if for the first time "
Robert Fripp of King Crimson.
Among many brilliant things Fripp has said, that one is very special.
Superb!! Artistry + technology, an excellent combination. Let the great bounty from this channel continue pouring forth, I’m glued!!!
YES!
this is my favorite KC song. thank you so much
Big bonus: this version sounds less 'harsh' and digital than the album release.
IMO, the original CD release of 'The ConstruKction Of Light' album suffered from the limitations of early digital recording and mixing technology.
This is a different mix (with different fx and a few missing technical flourishes, e.g. the bit reduced drum hits at the breaks, notably the section at 3:53 on the original album); it trades off the 'in your face' quality for a more relaxed yet intelligible mix, with less high frequency emphasis (though the transient high frequency 'bite' is still there, especially with the E-Drums and Robert's guitar). An excellent alternative to the original mix guys..
Thanks David & Robert!
Oh, yes, way better. So much cleaner too: all the little "bleeps" Gunn plays above the bass line are as present as anything else. The vocals too - processed and electronic as they are - are more down to earth here (though I don't like all that flange, tbh). And the return of those vocal last lines - I consider this a vast improvement. They carry the plaintiveness of the lyrics out to a point of spill-over, which is just what's needed. A mistake that they were removed, I think.
This pure pleasure, thanks Genius 🎶👍
Thanks for the show in Boston yesterday!!! My innocent ears are still at the Boch Center!!!
Cheers from Seattle,
thx for the tunes!!
Thanks very much for this!
This is brightly stunning song. It is wonderfully pleasant.
Song starts at 2:09
KING CRIMSON IS KING 👑
The fusion of these wonderful musicians made possible the appearance of King CRIMSON.
Thank you
Brilliant! Bravo! One more time, please.
Los videos de king crimson son de los pocos que ya tienes una cantidad considerada de visitas y no tienen ningún dislike
More like the construction of heavy. Great cut this.
Very beautiful alternative version.
masterpiece
Masters...
Congratulations from Brazil, Happy Birthday Great King!!!
Grande trabalho de Mastelloto. Bruford sempre será insubstituível, porém Pat consegue imprimir sua personalidade na música.
This is amazing King Crimson that I've never heard before. This is the best music series. My favorite band of all time.
The lads never fail!
Epico!! Gracias Rey Carmesí.
Amo este tema!! Los acordes, la letra, todo!!!
Finally
Something from this masterpiece of an album
They've already uploaded Fraktured bro. Think that one turned out better despite this being one of my favourite songs. A lot of this sounded a bit awkward for me, dunno if I'm just too use to the original
@@InsaneCarville oh you're right
still , i like that they gave us more of this album and this version feels fresh for me probably due to the fact that this song is one of my favorites of kc
@@nvt9503 Each to their own, completely agree with the fresh sound and it probably is my favourite too
OMG I love this band!!
Great!!!!
I Will see you here in Rio next month.
Delighted to hear Tony say it's one of the greatest touch guitar lines ever laid down. I wonder if it was written by Trey Gunn....Tony isn't one to toot his horn like that. Either way, it's tiiiight
Tony wasn't on ConstruKction, so it was Trey.
I love Pats drumming!
Any love for anything from the champaign-urbana sessions?
the bass sound much better here
Completely melted down!!!
I LIKE IT !!
MY BEST SONG !!
VERY GOOD !!
sooooooooo good. fripp and belew....omg
I LOVE THE KING!!! Thank GOD for Fripp!
Is this a new drum part? I know the original version, but I don’t recognize the drum part in this take...
It's from ReConstruKction of Light
I need the whole album like this. Please.
The ReConstruKction of Light BRO.
and you couldn't find the space to fit this onto the box set? what a missed opportunity!
Those extra vocal lines (the extra "improvise" bit) definitely belonged on the cutting room floor but if it's an excuse for a streaming release of the remixed track I'll take it lol
I think I would like a copy of this box set.
I got one, so worth it! The Heaven and Earth box set is one of the best musical purchases I’ve ever made
37th death iteration
Gotta say there are some KC albums easier to appreciate than to love. For me, ConstruKction Of Light was always one of those.
Please upload thela hun ginjeet
Heh - after 6 years of the current line-up, we get to the 5 minute mark and I'm like "where's the sax"? :)
After 6 years of the current line-up, we get to the 5 minute mark and I'm like "Jakko needs to just frakkin' sing already" Who wouldn't want to hear him sing "A spec of lint on the penis of an alien, buried in gelatin."
Edward Williams 🤣
@@edwardwilliams6514 well, me, actually. I can't stand that line. Funny/ironic (and yes, I know the Warhol quote it came from) the first time, but it has dated itself and, much like the original Easy Money lyrics, now comes across as in poor taste decades later. For new-to-crim listeners for which this track should be a go-to, it instead becomes a deterrent.
catfdljws KC has never (after ITCOTCK) anyway been a lyric driven entity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great when words and music come together and WORK but through much of KC’s history the lyrics have been weak. I prefer the instrumental version of TCOL which I’ve heard on tour over the version presented here, IMO.
@@catfdljws In what way has the 'Easy Money' lyrics become dated?
Nice im early
Discerningly not the same album
But a redo that has a different quality and taste
Prefer the first release

Aww man i hate to say it but i think i like the live version thats already been on CZcams but i must say this is up there with some of there other greatest masterpieces.... Thank you Robert fripp but please for fripp.sake we need fallen angel i think ive been asking for 40 week's let's do this please
🙏💘💘💘
Disappointed this wasn't played in Boston 😒 but as Dickie Betts once told fans at a show, "We've got a long time to go tonight. So if you don't hear what you want, well that's tough!!" What amazing show!!!!!!!!!
Always had trouble with the anemic vocal parts in that song's second half
Also with the electronic drums - my favorite version will forever remain the 2003 DVD.
Mastelotto hitting hard ( but not as hard as on other songs ) - And the convincing yet eerie delivery of Adrian Belew
I agree in that I really do like that version as well. That said, the vocals don’t sound anemic to me.
You might want to check out the new version on The ReconstruKction of Light with re-recorded parts by PM.
I know it's not the whole thing but the current line-up's instrumental version adds a whole new element - particularly with headphones on with from parts shifting around in the mix and with added sax etc. It totally brought this to a new level for me.
This song grew on me after hearing it with the Radical Action final lineup
I wonder if he's planning anything for night watch or waiting man...
i'm still waiting for i talk to the wind
Never really liked this lineup or album but it's starting to grow on me
waltuh...

Does anyone know which video discusses the reasons for remixing the album? I'd like to hear that, if possible.
Sander Wolff I think he talks about it in the 50th anniversary video for FraKctured.
someone requested it and Robert said go for it...nothing more than that
🎵
anyone knows the time signature?
15/16
Which one?
Guitars should be 10 over 13 or something like that
From tonylevin.com/road-diaries/king-crimson-2017-tour-pt1/red-bank-show2
But in this piece, we’re not all playing in the same time signature... There’s no just counting ‘one two three four’ when one player’s in 28/8 and others in 7/4 offset a quarter note from each other, and the drummers waiting to join in in 15/8 to signal finally getting beyond the verses!

When fripp jettisoned Adrian Belew he jettisoned the heart and soul of the band.
Arguably. As in all things music, this is a matter of taste (and perhaps familiarity - first impressions). 'Larks' Tongues In Aspic' was the first KC album I heard (back in 1977); I would argue that Bill Bruford (if he hadn't retired) and John Wetton (if he hadn't passed away) were the heart and soul of that incarnation - but time marches on. At least King Crimson has continually strived to break new ground, unlike many of their contemporaries who have largely become 'nostalgia bands', playing mainly old hits on their tours.
Come on, give Jakko a chance! He's really good!
I think I know what you mean and I share your pain. But if anybody: Robert Fripp is the heart and soul of King Crimson.
Eh… people said the same about Bruford, about Lake, about Muir… _plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose!_
@@danopticon But how meny fantastic albums with fresh and truly progressive music were released after Bruford, Lake or Muir left. A lot. The last one was The Power to Believe. What new and fresh music did current line-up release? Nothing....
What a deception !!

@@jiggywiggy9332 I think it was a sort of thoughtful quip, in the sense that when main antagonist Diavolo walked up the stairs to approach Polnareff, it was reminiscent of the time Polnareff walked up the stairs to approach DIO in Pt3

Waaaaaay too much percussion ...
said no one ever
@@urielseptim9860 The original album version is better
Graviton1066 - I think the sound of the drums are better here, but the _actual_ drumming in the original is more interesting. Pat just kind of plays through this normally, unlike the original.
On whole nother level
I think that's a matter of taste - how many time have you heard way too much garlic, or cayenne? Percussion is seasoning.
Every dislike is a "MUDA!"

With the greatest respect (really!), if you don't want to pay, then you have no right to complain.
