Look! Up on the screen! It’s a monster! It’s a nuclear accident! It’s... it’s... it’s a pizza? Used to be, back in the old days, moviehouses and drive-in theatres (remember them?) would show more than one film each evening. And between features, audiences were shown short films to keep them occupied. They entertained, they advertised, and, sometimes by accident, they even appalled. Something Weird Video’s Hey, Folks! It’s Intermission Time! is a loving tribute to those cute little films of yore that have, with the passing of time, become the stuff of cinematic lore. This collection features a barrage of intermission shorts from the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s. There’s yummy hamburgers! (Actually, most look more like grilled Brillo Pads.) Appetizing hot dogs (Is there something wrong with the projector or do weenies always look some strange shade of green in drive-in movie ads?) Spicy California Pizza (Appears to be something else. Perhaps a creature from another galaxy?)

I especially like the Fanta commercial.
I will always enjoy watching these intermission films as it makes me feel like a child again! We went to the drive-in in our pajamas and played on the playground there! We would usually watch a Disney movie such as bedknobs and broomsticks and the jungle book etc etc.. Oh yah 101 dalmatians too! Happy times!
My brother and I went in our pajamas, blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, GI Joes, and turned that big back seat into an adventure. Then came the popcorn, pizzas, hamburgers, fries, candy and cokes. It was GLORIOUS. Happiest time of life. Thinking about it, I don't know whether to smile, because we had that experience, or to feel sad, because I miss it so much.✌❤
Me too 😊
I could watch these SWV intermission and trailer compilations all day! I have a drive-in about 90 minutes from me and occasionally they show one or two of these in between the movies. They showed the flying saucer one once! Thanks for posting!
I had to watch this damn video twice. First time through i got hungry and made myself a snack, i missed most of it and had to restart.
Like a trip down memory Lane.....you didn't have to worry about other people's cellphones or loud voices, or wonder who might go nuts and start shooting up the place. Oh, and you didn't have to get a bank loan to pay for a movie ticket and some refreshments either....LOL!!!
But you DID have to worry about necker checkers!
I’ll play this when I watch the Snyder Cut.
I shouldn't watch this when I have the munchies
Rapier's Dry Cleaning ad -- the little gal running the ironing machine is soooo cute.
What memories, thanx for the post. I remember when I was a projectionist at a drive-in, we had one of these "intermission reels" but they didn't make me run it. I was glad because instead of loading and rewinding, I could go to the snack bar and get popcorn and soda :)
I very happily purchased and watched the various "Hey Folks! It's Intermission Time" VHS tapes from Something Weird Video in the 1990s.
Yes, I have that series as well. I have tried to acquire as many of the available compilations on DVD as possible.
So do I!!! :-)
Them movie popcorn buckets could use a pre-punched hole in the bottom so I don't spill any popcorn on my date while getting my knife out.
Subscribed and having a Fanfiction Intermission at the CZcams club theater with my fav Fandom and Snack's or Lunch or Dinner, then a hot shower and getting ready for bed.
I wish that they still did this because it's a good chance to fill up on fresh food and you get the perfect opportunity to take a bathroom break.
I remember seeing the one at 1:43 on an episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse of all things. LOL!
BlueDragon992 The episode name?
Plushblue EP Rebarella
@@bluedragon9925 agreed 😊
I miss the drive in bring it back !
I second that, yes.
Some cities still have them using FM radio stations for the sound system. Google their whereabouts.
I love these commercials at the Drive In. Thank You for uploading this Masterpiece
3:33, Hugh Beaumont is that YOU ???!!!! doing the concessions voice over???
Beaver Cleaver's Dad Ward Cleaver. yeah innit
BRINGS BACK ALOT OF GOOD MEMORIES!!!
This reminds me of an incident in the 1960s in which a drive-in snack bar worker mistakenly poured insecticide into a fountain drink dispenser from an unmarked bottle, thinking it was either Coca-Cola or Pepsi syrup because it was dark brown. Of course, the few people who even sipped a little bit immediately spit it out, but they were affected by the poison anyway. So beware - everything at the refreshment stand isn't always as wholesome as these intermission films make it all look.
Accck!! Terrible!
hebneh that wasn't smart😊🎱
This time of year, has me longing to go to the drive in movies. Sadly, there are none near me. 😢
I have 6 DVD's of Intermission shorts! Something Weird is the greatest! Thank you, Mike and Lisa Vraney!! 😄😄😄
The first ad has music that sounds like it’s from 1980s Japanese City Pop.
Oh boy Fanta Orange
who here is watching after hearing those rumors about endgame having an intermission
The song heard in beginning is THE HELLRAISERS by Syd Dale.
time flies man
1:43 This kid is totally stoned! XD
Are you suggesting he has the "munchies"?
4:36 he sounds like Felix the cat
Close but no cigar.
More like Sherman from Mr. Peabody and Sherman
5:00 Hey, did that alien bother to pay?
Awesome.
May I use the intermission screen for my stream?
Chocolate chewing gum, seriously?? at 0.45
Those Flavos Shrimp Rolls sound good right about now.
Eww..the equivalent of gas station sushi. 🍣
@anne marie x so...........
THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKE.

If there is a full version of the first clips theme what is it
Yummy 😎😊🕺
From the 1940s to 1960s.
Do movie theaters even sell ice cream any more? I've never been to one that had ice cream or popsicles.
attention patrons were all out of chicken and soda and hot dogs. please drink our raw turnip juice. also the drive in speaker is not a lubricant -management
5:24 wow, I LOVE that one
Sterlin, I find the Burglar bumpers to be mildly amusing (at least the first few views), but I am not overly impressed with minute 5.
Just sayin'.
@@squashpants its mostly just the timestamp for the next one. I like the one with the red background which follows
@@sterlinsilver I like the bumper beyond that minute mark, too, Broh.
That’s the 1970s
“And *O R A N G E D R I N K* “
Pike Productions intermission opener in HQ!
Look Gordon, it’s intermission time! During this intermission, we can grab some snacks and go to the bathroom!
Glad I’m not the only Hlvrai fan here
@@sundials5572 finally another hlvrai fan! I thought that only I knew that this was the source of the movie during the hlvrai cast commentary.
@@caesarseizure1625 glad I found it after all this time, was about to give up! Nice meeting you hear!
@@sundials5572 no worries
Bring back the drive in - please - seriously 🤪✌️ what happened ? Oh well thank you !
They are still around using your FM radio receiver for sound. Google for the one nearest you.
OHHHH BILLY!!!
I noticed the first hot dog they showed was nestled between two slices of regular bread, not a hot dog bun. What gives?
I THINK SPRITE TOOK OVER THE POP. TEEM.
Why in the world would you want to show drive-in movie customers cartoon movies of burglars breaking into homes? Even if they're comically inept? Why remind people of what might be happening while they're not at home?
You're killin' me, Dude.
@@squashpants agreed 😊
those old cartoon characters are probably all dead by now :(
It that's true , than Felix the Cat and Betty Bop were be dead by 2002 or 2003 , or something like that .
Yeah r.i.p. old toons
