INSTALLING THE 8” CUSTOM PIPE ENTRANCE! (WILL IT WORK?) Part 8

  • The day has come. It’s finally time to install the custom 8” pipe entrance. I’m just as excited as the customer because this has been a dream project. I would love to keep building pipe fences and custom property entrances. Nothing much beats the look of a pipe entrance like this. It makes a statement and is widely practical with how secure you can make it.
More to come on this project. We have to hang the cool custom pipe gates and build the connecting pipe fence. Stay tuned for more from this fun build. All the other videos in this series are linked below!

I'm an equipment operator, one tip I can give you if you don;t have the height with the two machines you can "choke" (double cinch ) the pipe 3/4 the way up to lift the pipe off the ground so you don't cave in the side of the hole.

@@arosswelding did ya put a foot, piece of tin, bottom of hole so it dont sink, & use tin, both sides of pipe, stop dirt in the hole dropping. acts as a skid..id even put 2ft concrete in there so the pipe fills a little..even blow couple holes in side for extra bite of crete..

Almost an anticlimax all that work and up in one day. But shows the prep and planning paid off. Looks good though definitely a statement. Your tip of the day is spot on. As a Carpenter builder of 40 years building up contacts with people in your industry is vital. And a good working relationship. If they know they can turn up do their job without hassle and the big one is get paid in a timely fashion you will get good support. Find good workers you can trust and keep them sweet.

On the ranch we always set the gate back far enough to put a conventional tractor and a set of doubles stock trailers between it and the road so nobody ever had to stop on the highway to open a gate
If the gates couldn't swin inward we increase it the length of the gates plus a little more. The lost grass is a smaller cost than fixing equipment that got hit by some dummy driving a Mercedes .

On my little tractor when I'm installing swing sets I have a pallet with six foot extension with another pallet on top. I first lift the top of the swing and put it on my six foot high pallet. I then put the forks on the bottom of the pallet and lift the swing up and set the pipe legs into the hole. You must be on level ground. The six foot pallet is made of steel and stores in the front of my trailer. Doesn't look safe but I have not had a problem. Your pipe is a lot heavier than my swing sets but it should work. Handy to have.
