RANCH ENTRANCE BUILT IN A DAY (HOW TO BUILD AN OVERHEAD PIPE FENCE ENTRANCE IN THE AIR)

- Here is an entrance we were able to build in a day! It’s possible with the right prep that even with travel a guy can come in an weld out an entrance and pipe fence supports in a day. This was a fun project with a great office view (one of the reasons I like working outdoors).
This ranch entrance was inspired by my latest pipe fence and pipe entrance build just simplified and using pre-made gates instead of custom everything. It’s a great example of a way to do a big simple nice entrance. The final measurements were an 8 inch pipe upper and overhead, 14 foot high and 32 foot wide.

So clean , those cuts and they are free hand and on a ladder. Well played.
I look forward to these videos every Friday I get off work! Great way to start the weekend 🤘🏻
That is good to hear. I’m glad you enjoy the videos! Thank you for watching!
I do also keeping doing it , I would love to see your video everyday from everything.
Hey Austin! I learned something new today!
If I ever take a one-day job, three hours from home, I am going to be danged sure to pack a lunch! LOL
Cheers!
Whipple
Haha that’s for sure!
Boh thats a mighty fine pocket protector you got there!
Hey " A" man, you nailed it on the head, being safe is the first priority. When you question if its safe, IT'S NOT. Good message. Hood down lights on.
Could you make a video on torch cutting tips? Such as getting a good flame, i see you always get a great cut & dont seem to overheat the work piece.
I’m so glad you made the comment about the price of the prebuilt gate versus the price of a custom built gate. I have customers all the time I have to try and explain why there’s such a price jump in what we can fabricate and what’s available about the farm store.
I know its cheaper, but I honestly like the gates he put on this entry. They look sharp.
Coming from a retired pipe welder of 42 years, Great job brother!!
Weld on !!!!! Your the man brother!! One bead at a time , one breath at a time...
Looks good bud. I passed through that area and i recognized that truck and i saw u diggin in ur bed i told my wife i swear he looked just like austin ross.
ha
Loved the time lapse view!
OSHA saw where you put that ladder on the tractor hahahaha...great video brother man, doing great work
Great job Austin, sometimes you have to save a little and close up the hole in the fence and use the money elsewhere until you get the cookie jar filled and then build the gates you really wanted. You did a great job for your friend. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
It sure is fun to watch you do your thing. I love your attitude and the way you take us along with you. As always, thanks for sharing it all. Best wishes!!!
I appreciate you watching!
Enjoyed watching your videos on building this entry way gate and fence. Awesome work and video content!
Your a inspiration to all welders including me and your educational level is amazing
Great job as always pipeliner pride.
Thanks!
Thanks much for the time to make the videos. Hopefully you and Kayla have a great Memorial Day holiday. Ps my spelling is not good
I love these videos brother, thanks for all the effort you guys put into them. You inspire me mister Austin
Thsnk you for the great vids. I'm 40 and just now starting to weld. It's kind of a side thing now but I would like to make it more. Your vids help a lot.
The big plus to your custom gates is they won't sag where the purchased ones will over time..
I love watching your videos.... the music is great too
your video skill are so professional.
your presentation stills are masterful.
and to top it all off I just love watching your vids.
so keep up the good work
Outstanding work and great advice.
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Yeah, your custom built gates look a lot better! Well done!
Awesome!. Thanks for the tips it helps on the gate projects and fence buildings I do!. More knowledge taught for free!. Can’t thank ya enough!.
Love your work.
Awesome Work Man.. good tips for 2” saddle
Super dope
Very nice perstine torch cutting, that torch tip looks brand new with a cut like that.
Nice! Thanks
I'd say most aspiring steel-workers ought subscribe to your channel just to get tips on how to torch-cut soooo damn smooth Austin. I've run a lot of oxy-acet torch, I have a Pal here who is considered "A Genius" with the gas-axe - and he's crap compared to how smooth you run one - we won't even mention me - I'm the stuff they use to reference the degree of roughness of bears behinds off of when it comes to torch-action.
I also have yet to watch one of your vidjos without learning at least one thing - despite being a rod-botherer since I was 15. That alone is rare. But damn, man, you're smooth as with that gas axe.. It's making me reflect on my own relationship with the hot bottles. It may need re-visiting.
Thats a good lookin fence right there 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I sure appreciate it Ruben
Nice work dude.
Awsome job austin
Thanks!
How far do you typically hang the horizontal piece from the ground? I pull a living quarters trailer with AC but also dont want the fire department not being able to make it down. My wife is worried the UPS truck won’t make it down. 😂
Right on
You’re a bad ass!
I wouldn’t go that far... lol I’m just a guy weldin for a livin. And lovin every bit of it.
i love torch jig
On another topic, lookin good slim. Happy Memorial Day!
Отличная работа!👍
Nice job, craftsmanship
Thanks!
Pretty steady hand with that torch even when your pushing.....the second I start pushing instead of pulling it goes to crap
lol, been there where I forgot plate for ends. In my case, I had extra pipe so I just made bullhead caps. Gives an interesting look, for sure.
Fine work bud fine work 👌
Good camera placement to bud!!
I see the job site flex with the stabila in the back
Every Friday for the past 6 years I been watching keep them coming brother. I’m still waiting on my circle burner I ordered
Thanks for watching and keeping up all these years! Kayla has emailed you about your circle burner... it got sent back due to an invalid address I think... she is waiting to hear back from you.
@@arosswelding can you get her to send it again thanks a million and I’m about to order the grass hopper too
Nice job!!! Keep up all this work you are going to have to get you a apprentice to help you. I have a machining background but have done a lot of welding and cutting with a torch never have done the saddles in big pipe but I came across and few pieces of 8” pipe drop off at the metal scrapyard between 15” to 24” so just to try my luck at it. Just keep up the good work. Catch you on your next video.
Awww no Karen cameo! ;-) Seriously Austin, love your videos. And really appreciate your "make it happen" attitude! Keep it up!
Good job sir austin, plsss teach me how to compute this lateral pipe, thanks!😁
“But it still looks nice”. Man those gates don’t hold a candle to your custom built gates come on
Awsome thanks!!
Really enjoy watching your videos!
Might pick one of your circle burners up for farm use as I too suck at cutting round holes!
So are you done with pipeline work or is the fence work filling the gap while the industry is down?
Keep it up and really appreciate the time you take to throw in the tips you do!
I’m not done pipelin. Just rollin with the slow down of pipeline work. I enjoy all of it!
I’m curious why you didn’t run the string line at ground level where you don’t need to do ladder work and just measure up to your desired height? I enjoy your work and never miss an episode. Keep up the good work!!
You’d have to establish level at the bottom ( whatever height off the ground you’re ok with) then get on the ladder anyway and try and hold tape down at your marks. Wouldn’t make much sense. Also, level/plumb at bottom doesn’t mean level/plumb at the top. You also need center of pipe like he said to cut saddles which requires you to work off the ladder anyway. That’s probably why
Safety Third 👌😎! Looks great Austin! Ain't tomorrow Friday yet 😂?
I wish you had shown close ups of welding the crossmember.
Ever done any square tube fences? Curious on how they look!
Yessir.
Hi Austin,I've built a number of these,I used a tripod level, benchmarked post set the high side then brought the other side up and set it.I try to stay off ladders.U
Very nice
looks good but gotta remember safety first.tie off and lookout down where cut parts with a torch will land. that was near landing on them hoses
Mr Ross sir would 7018 be okay for mild steel at least I think it's mild steel as I've got to repair my gates as kids have kicked the snot out of them?
Man dude I’m more impressed on how good your dodge has been to you you definitely got a good one
What tip do you use in your cutting torch?
Jam up hand my guy.
I saw when you were cutting the saddle you crossed over your line in some places, was that a mistake or intentional?
What kind of torch do you have? It looks bad ass
Do you do metal bending?
Where can I get a leather pen case holder like that at?
How do you get into the Union
Como haces los tapones de los tubos
Yes sir C'mon
C’mon
Where did you get that torch head?
Hey Austin, if you feel comfortable discussing it, could you go over how to grip stingers? I find that I grip it several different ways depending on the length of my rod and positioning. Do you know of a grip that is correct?
thumb on the stinger clamp handle but whats a rootrunner from canada know😁
@@derrickchisholm8086 I get that, but what I found is that by extending your pointer finger along the stinger, you get a lot of control for weaving.
Ross do you have video on how to read the blue book if so I can’t find it on your Channel
Check out these videos

Thx you for your such a quick turn around of all the guys on the tube I follow and watch and listen to for tips and tricks I find yours to be most practical and real world.
Would you be a opposed to me emailing you I have some questions about the pipeline industry I’ve been welding off and on since 2017
About what would you charge on something like this? Ballpark
Why did you cut on opposite sides of the lines on the saddles?
I was trying to adjust my cut a little because the last 8 inch cut needed some adjustment but this time I went a touch too far that way. I ended up having to trim it out just a little but it was not bad at all. Great question.
What part of Oklahoma is that?
Hey man just wondering what welding jacket are you wearing in this video?
Martin brothers welding shirt. Real good material, made of mountain cloth. We actually sale them on my website. Arosswelding.com/shop
It may say out of stock on some sizes but we have more in, we just have to inventory them, then we will have them back up for sale on the website.
@@arosswelding sounds good I’ll look into it thanks a lot
man i want a profession like this what do I have to do
safety does not take a huge amount of time. a quick webbing tie down to attach ladder to post and a harness then attached to ladder can prevent a fall
I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore todo have you ever heard that ha bet not jk love your videos
Lol yes I have! I watched that movie as a kid!
You wouldnt happen to know someone looking for an apprentice welder do you?? Got my 1-4G (almost had 6G) I live in Texas but trying to move out.
M also studied in welding sir
What scope of welder in ur country
What type of study need for job

@@arosswelding great video. What part of Oklahoma was this entryway?
South east
It is Beautiful down there isn’t it?
@@arosswelding my guess would have been the northern part of the state.
Are you going to go back to pipeline?
If so what part?
South of Mcalister
Do you run a journeyman or performer ?
I believe mine is the performer.. whichever one is the smaller one.
@@arosswelding thank you that's what it looked like. I have a big journeyman and was thinking of adding a smaller performer to my shop
Thank you for putting out your videos I always wait to see what your new video is every Friday
I don't think the X Ray hand is gonna like being hung off the stinger on that tractor!
What is the point in these thing that u built
Just for show for the farm entrance
The one time you do saddles I've been wanting to see and you dont film it, super disappointed
Use to follow the old channel just found this one is he divorced now?
Negative. Still married. Glad you found the new channel!
You don’t think it’s faster to use the chip saw on cutting pipe .. clean cut instead of torch .. that way you don’t have to grind
Oklahoma men have ways of doing things usually not OSHA approved lol. Why does ads always have to cut you off when your explaining something lol?
