RANCH ENTRANCE BUILT IN A DAY (HOW TO BUILD AN OVERHEAD PIPE FENCE ENTRANCE IN THE AIR)

  • Here is an entrance we were able to build in a day! It’s possible with the right prep that even with travel a guy can come in an weld out an entrance and pipe fence supports in a day. This was a fun project with a great office view (one of the reasons I like working outdoors).
    This ranch entrance was inspired by my latest pipe fence and pipe entrance build just simplified and using pre-made gates instead of custom everything. It’s a great example of a way to do a big simple nice entrance. The final measurements were an 8 inch pipe upper and overhead, 14 foot high and 32 foot wide.

    I’m so glad you made the comment about the price of the prebuilt gate versus the price of a custom built gate. I have customers all the time I have to try and explain why there’s such a price jump in what we can fabricate and what’s available about the farm store.

    I'd say most aspiring steel-workers ought subscribe to your channel just to get tips on how to torch-cut soooo damn smooth Austin. I've run a lot of oxy-acet torch, I have a Pal here who is considered "A Genius" with the gas-axe - and he's crap compared to how smooth you run one - we won't even mention me - I'm the stuff they use to reference the degree of roughness of bears behinds off of when it comes to torch-action.
    I also have yet to watch one of your vidjos without learning at least one thing - despite being a rod-botherer since I was 15. That alone is rare. But damn, man, you're smooth as with that gas axe.. It's making me reflect on my own relationship with the hot bottles. It may need re-visiting.

    • @waynedebski3886
      @waynedebski3886 Před 3 lety +3

      You’d have to establish level at the bottom ( whatever height off the ground you’re ok with) then get on the ladder anyway and try and hold tape down at your marks. Wouldn’t make much sense. Also, level/plumb at bottom doesn’t mean level/plumb at the top. You also need center of pipe like he said to cut saddles which requires you to work off the ladder anyway. That’s probably why
