Mercedes COLLAPSING After Toto Wolff's SURPRISING STATEMENT!

  • ■ Mercedes are entering the upcoming weekend with more bad news, which is seemingly looking to bring yet another bad result for the Silver Arrows after Wolff’s latest statement. After the W15 has been given a lot of hope in the pre-season testing due to the promising race pace simulation, the Brackley-based squad endured a very unusual and quite fundamental issue with the car, and with this in mind, could Suzuka’s nature prove to be yet another death blow to Mercedes’ hopes, or more importantly - can it shake up the entire organization to its core?

What is ur opinion on the current situation at Mercedes? And what do you think is the biggest problem at the team at the moment? 🧐
I personally think it's them constantly changing the concept of their car (2022 start, 2023 start, 2023 Monaco/Spain, and now again in 2024)

Honestly, I don't think there's anyone there that has a clue how to build a competitive car under these regulations.
That's why they are chopping and changing hoping they stumble on the solution.

They don't have drivers that's able to give feedback to the engineers. Lewis never developed a car. He received one that never needed to be developed with driver feedback over a 10 year period. Russel is just Russel... That car is fast. Toto should stop fending for Lewis. Lewis is causing that the team is flailing about between different criticisms each weekend for a 3 year period non-stop. All started when he lost a championship in a car that was still vastly superior to other cars. Address the elephant in the room.

    • @petxtra

The problem is not them changing their concepts. It's just that they have no clue on what to do. I'll like to call it karma. They were all cocky in 2021 when they were losing the most important people in their engineering department. Saying people can always fill in empty spots. They're just paying the price for being cocky.

Historically one team is dominant for a couple of seasons and then falls back and another team rises to the top. Sometimes it is the car, sometimes the driver, sometimes a bit of both. Nothing new here except that there is a group of fan boys who are just loosing their minds. In this case I believe the cost cap has been a large factor in this situation. MB cannot just spend their way out of their problems and having had some success a good deal of their talent has gotten themselves a raise moving to a new team.

BROKEN WIND TUNNEL! If the data in the tunnel and on the track is inconsistent and nobody has any idea what is wrong with the car then something in the wind tunnel seems to be broken. I am currently reading Adrian Newey's (Red Bull's CTO) book "How to build a car" and he had a very similar problem back in the 80s when he designed Leyton House's March 881 car. They had no idea why the car didn't perform. But instead of going back to the drawing board and hoping to strike lucky with another new car he would first try to understand the problem (a controversial decision in the time). He finally started questioning not the car but the wind tunnel where they conducted aerodynamic tests. It appears the Southampton wind tunnel they were using had a problem underneath the conveyor belt. Planks of oak were bolted to the plate through which the suction holes have been drilled. Over time this wood had bowed resulting in the ground plane being concave along it's length instead of being flat. And that was a real heureka moment for him that kinda saved his career.

I saw the signs midway through 2022. Mercedes do not have the personnel that understands these aero regulations, and it's becoming clearer and clearer by the day that there needs to be a big shift in leadership at the team. Hard to believe but all evidence supports this and Toto's last post race interview as well as Lewis's post race interview support this conjecture.
They have to keep pushing on though to get ready for 2026 where power units change. They cannot afford to be behind the curve on the chassis and suspension at that juncture. Everyone on the grid will be all hands on deck optimizing their power units. To have the chassis and suspension still in major development would be too much.

Mercedes really should have focused their efforts on designing building and racing a car and not the Race baiting agenda of one of its drivers. But really excited to see the first Ferrari to race that's painted black.

How can a high performing team - with so much data - repeatedly get their data correlations wrong (last three seasons)- the no sidepod design was being complained about as many in the paddock know it could be game changing - so redbull copy it, and merecedes drop it.
No wonder Hamilton wants out - he knows this will not fix in the current generation - he might find himself in a race next season, as Ferrari look closer to biting red bull than anyone else.

In Australia they were experimenting with the car to see which direction they are going in with the upgrades, but the first big major upgrade package should arrive at Imola. Ferrari & Red Bull will have some small upgrades at Japan, but Mercedes is waiting till Imola. There might be a chance Mercedes will bring some to Japan as well but we haven't seen any announcements about this yet!

It's a miracle that 4th in the championship is deemed a failure. Ah! The lifestyle of the rich and famous! "I'm quitting because I'm not winning" sums up the whole world. The hardest workers never quit no matter how difficult the job. I love racing. But the people involved need to spend a week in the sewers then quit complaining. These bums think they're idols aswell. Tut tut. Here's some advice from an ignorant uneducated non entity. Don't hire people who expect to win. Hire people who try to win. Blah blah blah!

Dude Russel Wilson will not be with Mercedes for 3 years I guarantee that. And if Hamilton leaves it will be even more apparent. Wilson is benefiting from the high expectations set for Lewis and his car can't do it. But now some how Russell who hasn't been performing any better actually worse is a better driver? I'm confused by this perspective
