    I just installed a set of mt trail sport . I got the magura bleed kit equipped with the olives. The olives are black not gold and they appear a slightly different geometry. I used one when shortening the hose. All seems okay but there is half a thread showing on tightening the shroud nut. The brakes function perfectly.

      @MAGURAPassionPeople  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment! The olives that get shipped with the brakes are black, we use gold olives internally for service cases. Dimension-wise they are both identical. It is normal that a bit of the thread of the sleeve nut shows, please tighten it to 4Nm.

    Does anyone know the best way to swap the hoses on brakes? I’ve bought the MT trail set but for trials so I am going to use the four pot on the back and so need the longer hose.
    Is swapping them by the banjo bolt the best way before cutting my hoses to the correct length? I have everything I need to fill/bleed them anyway.

    Well, I just did my new MT2 rear that I put on my old bike. (a 2000 Cannondale Super V700SX) It turned out to be pretty easy. I don't have the special cutter but I held the tube like you showed with the two yellow plastic tools. And I cut it with a new Xacto knife. The hose is all plastic. I didn't know if I was going to have to cut through a metal lining or not. I have a couple of those little gold metal inserts from a 2000 Loiuse (or it was from a bleed kit I bought along with it) that I used. It's strange that the MT2 didn't include that part since it includes the olive and threaded collar. You don't need to hammer it in. I was able to shove it all the way in with my thumb. And you can pull it back out carefully with a pliers. So now that I know how easy it is I may have to shorten it again another 2 or 3 inches. Plus I have an MT2 to install on the front of this bike so it will have to be shortened too.

      Hi Ergo Proxy, thanks for your message. All MT2 brake from model year 2015 don't require an insert but just the olive in combination with the sleeve nut. Please get in touch with us via Facebook Messenger or via mail helpdesk@magura.de. Best regards Tobi (MAGURA social media)

    Sorry for my ignorance but I just ordered my mt5 front brake kit so I'll surely have to shorten my hose and these are my first hydraulic brakes but I'm curious what this plug they insert to the end of the hose is, won't that block the fluid flow or is it some sort of valve that connects to the inner bits of the master?

    • @tylerbailey8834
      @tylerbailey8834 Před 3 lety +1

      think of the "plug" as a gasket, it helps to make a seal but allows for fluid to pass through the center.

    It is not clear in the video if the portion of the hose to remain needs to be kept open side up to prevent air from entering the line. Can you clarify if this needs to be done and if air entering the brake line is a concern. Great video. Thanks!

      Anytime you open the system you have to check the function in case air got in. Bleed if necessary, but it not be.

    Hello, I have Magura MT2 ( carbotecture) and have a question regarding the golden insert. Bought the original olive and insert and the insert falls pretty loosely into the hose. Finally the set is tight and hermetic, but the question is , whether should be such a situation with loosen insert?

    • @MAGURAPassionPeople
      @MAGURAPassionPeople  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Dominik, with start of model year 2015 our MT2 brakes got a new caliper and a new hose. In the new hose you don't need any insert. The only thing you need to mount the hose on the master is the olive and of course the sleeve nut. If your brake caliper is all of a piece (not two parts) you have the new MT2. If you have any further questions you can just contact us via Facebook. Best regards Tobi

    I bought 2 new mt2, the kit comes with 4 olives but no gold coloured hose insert... In either of the brand new MT2N kits. I'm going to have to use the original metal 1 piece black connector at the MC end. Shame the piece was missing from both brand new kits... 4 olives for 2 kits and no hose inserts...

      Hi there, thanks for your message. Please do not use an insert on our MT2N brakes. MAGURAPassionPeople Thanks for the reply, I'm not on Facebook. The instructions that came with the kit state in section b6 that you must use an insert (labelled "5") when shortening the brakes. After writing that message I went to my bicycle shop and purchased 2 and have now fitted them.

    i have the HS33 urban kit.. the instructions do not match the kit.
    1) why does it come pre-bleed if you instantly have to to cut the brake line when you take it out of the box?
    2) I ordered the kit advertised for the front brake.. why the hell does it come with a 2 meter brake line?? a pointlessly pre-bleed brake line!
    3) why use torque screws instead of the standard alen key??
    4) the Magura easy-bleed system is a pain in the ass.. now i need to purchase the magura service kit.. whats wrong with a standard bleed nipple? its easier!!
    i was told to stay away from the Magura kits but i thought i give them a go.. turned out to be a pain in the ass

    What they don't tell you is to be extremely careful with cutting and mounting brake lines because they cost a fortune, if you ever need to replace them.

    • @kneesliding7510

      Yep! the method they show here to hold the cable while you insert the nipple sucks! the slightest pressure damages the cable.
      Now its 3cm too short due to the damaged line, and €35 mistake because you can only get the line with the attachtment already fitted.
