Welcome to restoration and metal. In this video I was sent by a fan to an air compressor. They're in a very old state. They are machines that have stopped producing components. It was difficult, the compressed cylinder was crushed. I had to cut them straight back to their original state. Double layer welding is the optimal plan that I choose to restoration

Super nice job. May I recommend using a fire extinguisher for the air tank? Is already at the right shape, no repair is required, and is build to resist the pressure.
An old propane or mixed gas tank would be better, has more volume. This tank is a horrific death trap.

Mister, you don't need a capacitor on this type of motor. It has starting and working windings. They will both be powered until the mottor reaches certain speed. After that the centrofugal switch will cut the power to the starting winding.

JFC. This is like the channel of how not to do things. Never weld a compressor tank.
Tanks can be welded if they're in pristine condition, but the whole tank must be heat treated afterwards to reform the crystalline structure of the metal to reduce stresses added by welding. It's basically what's done in the factory after a tank is assembled and all of the welded components are added. Brazing would be a better option on an existing good tank since it wouldn't drastically change the properties of the tank metal like a welding arc does.
The shitty tank in this video is a bomb waiting to go off, which is made even more dangerous because the tank was putty filled and painted to look like a new undamaged tank. A trained eye could spot it, but not everyone knows what an IED looks like.
@TheJR1948 When I watched that I thought I'm sure he just turned an original three core wire into two core. Very dangerous

You Need to Put a automatic pressure shut off switch. Cause it not good, to keep shutting it off and on like that, not cooling the motor down.

I thought this was an excellent rebuilding of the compressor until the end when the wires were spliced into "a capacitor?", and then to the power cord. It seems that there should have been a container for that and then the power cord attached it them. As to the turning the device on and off at the extension cord, I thought the red button would be the power switch. All in all I really liked the work do e and hope to see more.

"Explode" is a bit dramatic dont you think . lol . If they fail they blow a hole in the side and all the air comes out . I`ve had 2 fail on me , one was a vintage 200lt . Made me jump like hell I`ll give you that but no "dramatic explosion" as your imagination is telling you . It`ll scare the bejesus out of you dont get me wrong , its not at all a good start to your day but , it wont do much else , other than screw up a days work .
@@davidhaney1394 I'm not so sure have seen an O2 tank go It may not have blown up but boy do they whizz and can kill and they have no power just pressure.
@@davidhaney1394 they most certainly can and will explode violently. I have seen it happen in person. I saw one that rolled the sheet steel back on itself and sent the end caps flying for over an acre
