- Restoration Air Compressor Burned By Fire - Restore Old Large Capacity Air Compressor
I was sent by a company to an air compressor burned by fire to recover. The air compressor has been seriously damaged. I removed every detail to restore that device. It took many days for me to complete the restoration of the compressor. The air compressor has completely damaged the electrical system and housing. After restore it was completely new. Subscribe and share videos for me. Thank you.

Ahhh! Doesn't need music! The joy comes from hearing the tools! Still watched the whole video, good job
👍👍👍.
Although I do appreciate the effort put into the restoration it is important to get basics right. Safety first. A cover for the fan belt would be great. Basics of bearing installation would help too. And using terminal blocks would be best for electrical connections.
That fan belt would take an arm off.
As some others have said less eloquently, there are some good take-aways and lessons to learn with every project. I'd personally recommend wearing welding goggles/mask when welding to protect your face and eyes.
Trabajas muy bien joven.
An incredible restoration job with all the merits !! Seeing so many displikes, I realize that many people do not know the value that these relics have !! Congratulations on your capricious work, well executed with an excellent final result !!

That compressor is made in Japan! It is indeed something worth restoring, beautiful compressor pump! I love the fact that you spent so much time removing all the paint and rust from each part, thats the way to do it!
I believe you would love to see this ...czcams.com/video/C27huznEhYc/video.html
Vou jogar soda cáustica liquida dentro, pois o óleo a soda come.
Fica a dica.
Nice work!
I love how people with no videos up here criticize this guy's work.
Ya don't need to have a video posted to know if someone is doing something incorrect. In this case reusing a compressor tank that has been supposedly subjected to fire is not safe. Also the heavy handed approach to bearing installation and the use of abrasives on precision surfaces are not good practice.
Beautiful job! I liked how the sped up sounds of you working seem to flow along with that Max McFerren track...double like 😀
Very skillful. A fantastic mechanic. Well done.
Lavoro eccezionale. Bravissimo!
Imagine what this guy could do with the proper setup

I've watched a few of these videos involving compressors and whilst they look great when finished, there are a few issues...
Not one of them has shown any testing of the reservoir cylinder. How do they know what the inside of the cylinder is like? Looking at the state of the outsides covered in corrosion etc, what is the inside like?
These cylinders are pressurised, corrosion and small cracks could be very very dangerous, you would not want to be anywhere near one if it ruptures.
Then there's the painting, 1 or 2 coats of paint is not going to last more than a few months of use.
Yep I would worry a lot about old compressor air tank safety - especially if they have been in a fire :(
These videos from the channel are true lessons in patience, perseverance, objectivity and faith in the human capacity to overcome challenges. Congratulations!
I think you did a great job with this Compressor I have enjoyed your work very much
My friend is a Vietnamese. You share very well and let's see how my country is doing
Impresionante Maestro...!!!!!
Good day, nice colors used, but in the future please test all pressure vessel tanks called "hydro testing" as this could save your life or someone you know, as these tanks under 120-150 psi when they explode they definitely kill people and we don't want that to happen to you.
Good luck with future rebuild and keep in mind safety first so you can rebuild many more awesome projects.
This guy is a genius 😂
Some of the criticism is valid but still the result is good and the guy is multi talented; I am confident that he never had the chance to experience the luxury of first class coaching but rather had to improvise to make the best of what is available to him whether it is knowledge, exposure, materials or means.
Keep the good work and pay more attention to some of the remarks.
Muy buena reparación
Broken cooling fins should have been repaired
A short video shot of the working compressor would be more clear if you showed the pressure gauge while it was running to see what it could do.

Excellent restoration... Love the paint job. WELL DONE!!! 10/10
Some of the parts looked to be in good shape despite the fire and neglect but still given the number of parts it would still take the time you said. Great result.

What a wonderful job my friend. Great skills & attention to detail. God Bless You from the NE Pennsylvania, USA
Nice work friend! I would build a Cage though, as someone could get caught in the belt when it's running. Also put a wine stopper where the lost oil cap was to keep spiders from going inside the head. Glad to see you installed new shut off.
Parabéns pelo trabalho 👏👏👏👏
Brilliant video, only area of concern is when you replaced the crankshaft bearings and the gaskets you made. Did the crank have some end-float once it's to operating temperature?
I dont know that i would trust that rotted out tank with very much pressure !!
Thinking the same. :-))
Where did you guys see rotted? This guy replaces bad tanks. He's been doing this awhile.
@28:32 you can see this tank lost some metal thickness to rust. He merely filled in the pitted parts to make it look good. These tanks would have to be tested and certified. I am not saying the guy did a bad job but I would definitely get this tested.
czcams.com/video/KVP_A7eGYxw/video.html
@@YoungHeartedSoul Yes, you are correct. In a perfect situation it would be checked and certified. But let's try to keep this in context.
i love yourwork. Here in Europe you would have a very fast running comapny with that
Master !!!! Salute from Serbia !!!! This is art !!!
That air compressor should have been scrapped.... Too dangerous for next use..
Because of no guard of belt or
?
Because the tank was welded on and it looks like there may have been a welded repair at one time. It’s my opinion that you should never for any reason weld or repair a pressure vessel. Tanks arent so expensive that it’s worth your limbs or life.
Excellent restoration
Excelente!!!! Felicitaciones!!!
Shouldn't you remove the paint from the surfaces the gaskets go on?
The surface must be clean from paint...use loctite much better than gasket...
Yes and the valve seats

Excellent work with no tools . Almost
Reminds me of my father's old workshop that got burnt out for insurance fraud by the landlord. Luckily many stuff survived, like a big ass drill press. It works since 15 years like it did in the sixties when it was built, and father changed only some cables and the oil. The remaining stains and burned paint let it look awesome!
Excelente muy bueno 👌👌👌👌

Awesome job came out great
Doesn't that tank need hydrostatic testing before it is used again?
JimTheSoundman - apparently yes, ⚠️ ✅
@@samuelfellows6923
Andrew Camarata has a video on his channel where he tests a tank like that with a pressure washer. I had no idea it was that easy.
You did a great job.
Knowledge is power mate. You are mighty and amazingly awesome. Great work!
relaxing to watch this,, like it, ty
its very beautiful
Looks good, I assume it's held up ... but ... please learn how to safely test those air tanks (hydro test). There could be deterioration on the inside, and you don't want to risk having it burst, especially with children near.
That reminds me, I must think about emptying my air compressor tank in case there is water in it causing rust. But I suppose I would har the hiss first from a leak.
Tanks start leaking at the weakest point, they won't explode that easily. Most of the time in the bottom of a tank where they collected rust from the inside.
Two things need to happen to blow up a tank
1. Pressure release valve has to be stuck or not working properly.
2.The electric pressure switch (what gives the motor power) has to malfunction.
you need both of them to malfunction at the same time.
3? you need a dumb ass that thinks he needs 150 or more PSI in fact you don't need more then 125 PSI I keep mine at 95 to 110 PSI and my blow off valve is set to 135 and I test it regularly...
@@michaelvw11 true, but that tank had been through a fire, and that could change things. better to test it and know it's good
I JUST LOVE HIS SAFETY TOE BOOTS !
Right along with his safety lens shade 0 welding glasses
Bahut bdhiya good luck video
Outstanding job you performed, considering you used basic tools only. However, you need to pay more attention to masking things off in the future, also, you can save your teflon thread tape, you only need to wrap it around the thread one and a half times to make it seal properly and always in the direction you will be threading it in. You need to retighten the belt after a few hours of use because it will stretch a little and you don't want too much slack in it, make it real tight. Please find a way to cover the opening to the crank case or it will contaminate the oil and possibly destroy the compressor. It would be a shame to see all your hard work go to waste. I'm a retired master mechanic so I know what I am talking about. Keep up the great work and always learn to improve your work in the future.
thank you
You don't want it that tight, v-belts have a wide working range, they are designed to grab even loose as long as they are not slipping. Some people think they know everything! www.ibtinc.com/how-to-tension-a-v-belt/
I won't say you are a master mechanic if you don't know about how v belts work and the friction required to turn a wheel, only need tightening when belts slip or squeak especially at the low RPM's air compressors turn over so you don't want to over tighten as this will deform the belt and cause premature wear and tear(see cracking in belts especially automotive application as those belts are tight since they run at high speeds and tight tolerances). Would like to add that it's generally best practice to wrap 3 times and this is coming from plumbers as the thread tape works both as a "lubricant" and a sealant, so as long as there isn't too much teflon then the more the better.
Sure he can mask more off for painting but what you all failed to take into account is he used the wrong paint as those air pumps get extremely hot and would cook most paints off, he should have used engine enamel paint as to have a better paint temperature durability range.
Also you point all these things out but didn't mention the most blatant problem of them all, which is the tank was never hydro tested to 2-3 times working pressure and is the most important thing that was skipped in this rebuild as most 3rd world countries don't have the safety education to teach what happens to pressure vessels that fail. This size air compressor tank under 120-150 PSI can and will kill you when it fails.
So next time rather than pointing everything out and criticizing and thinking you are a "master mechanic" just realize you also have a lot to learn still and no one is ever truly an expert that knows everything.
@@kazykamakaze131 proper adjustment is no more than a half inch of deflection in the belt, don't be a asshole and make a comment like you did if you really don't know what you're talking about. V belts stretch after a short period of use and should always be re-adjusted after a break in period.
That acid is what that garden needs to grow strong
Gotta love 3rd world shit holes that have no laws about waste disposal.
Wire wheels induce rust. They coat the surface with mild steel which rusts very quickly. People who use sandblasters are the only serious restoration guys. Anyone else is an amateur.
Yes, but not everybody have a sandblaster and it doesn't make a much difference what you use in the end
@@janbernik4877 I disagree. There is a big difference between sandblasting metal parts clean or using a wire brush. No comparison. I guarantee all those painted parts will chip paint in a short period of time and the rust will return.

another great job. i would like to know about the hidrostatic test.
i wouldnt plug that thing in - fire damage to tank makes it unsafe at any pressure - also that welding (using that term very loosely) he did to the tank didnt help matters - that compressor should have been scraped
Agreed! Nice work on everything else, but I wouldn't trust the integrity of that tank. SCARY!
