- Hello friends,
In today's video I would like to show you the renovation of a rusty bone grinder by the German company Heureka, which was awarded the medal in Leipzig in 1910.
I found the mill in a metal scrap where it was ready to melt.
If you have some information about restoration photos, you can share them with others on my Facebook page:

If you have any questions about the process, use machines or other things, ask me in the comments. I try to answer everyone and as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for my bad English, it's not my language.
I'm uploading videos about recovering mechanical things. I'm uploading videos about restoring old wooden things.

Action Index:
00:01 Presentation of the finding state
00:50 Coarse rust cleaning with a steel brush
01:23 Application of bolt and nut releaser
02:00 Attempt to loosen rusted screws
03:03 The stud had to be drilled
04:47 After unsuccessful attempts to loosen the screws, I decided to heat the screws with flame.
06:30 Since even the warm-up did not help to remove the shaft, I used a press off-hook. Lis jumped and how it turned out :(
06:40 I cleaned the metal parts with the ring disc.
06:25 For quality welding of the broken part it was necessary to sharpen the parts for V weld.
09:33 CO2 welding followed.
09:50 It was necessary to sand the welds after welding.
10:12 Grinded seams were sealed with two-component polyester putty.
11:40 It was necessary to deliver the missing handle (I still have supplies :))
But I had to adjust it because the oval was a square and I needed a triangle.
13:33 After cooking the handle, I put it in the fire to release the tension in the welds.
13:50 I cleaned the handle while the handle was warming up.
14:09 All metal parts were painted with a tannin rust remover.
15:09 I applied graphite to the non-staining areas to have a nice metallic color. Then it is necessary to apply colorless varnish otherwise graphite would stain.
16:17 Gluing places that will not stain.
16:43 Primer
16:52 Top acrylic paint RAL 7001
17:20 Shaft adjustment.
18:01 Handle Compilation.
18:38 It was necessary to make a lever.
20:20 Production of a new pin.
20:50 I chose an acrylic spray, chrome-plated, to highlight the letters.
21:22 Food grease was applied to lubricate the sliding surfaces.
21:50 And the assembly of the bone grinder began.
23:45 Comparison before and after renovation.
23:53 Test followed, but first we had to make bones :)
25:25 Reward for faithful helper :)
26:28 Tes was successful. We can give the bones this ground to the hens :)

Amazing amount of patience and fortitude. I think I would have given up and turned it into a boat anchor :) Great restoration.
I must thank you so much, I suffer from PTSD and anxiety. Your videos help me so much to relax and learn new things. You are one off my favorite creators. Good luck and please continue the excellent content !!
I am pleased, thank you for watching :) I wish you a speedy recovery.
Me too brother pray for me

Evangelho Mateus Cap 11 versículo 28 30.
What a disassembly! 🎉 I would have given up! And you made it work again!
Thank you very much Lina :)
What I like best about these restoration videos is..no music. And, the skill. This one did have the brief drum solo with the hammer. 😏
A small recommendation i would have soaked the whole thing in rust remover or diesel and even for 24hrs. Great restoration as usual i love your work.
Thank you for the advice Francis :)
Amazing work on the restoration. But with something this badly rusted, a wire brush cleaning to get all the initial rust off, soak in rust remover for 24 hours, then penetrating oils for another 24 .. may have made it easier to take apart. Of course that's a maybe .. the stupid back street driver talking after the fact. Since you were working with it you would know better the condition and if such things may have helped. Still amazing work. And putting together the new handle using something from the junk pile and changing it so it would fit. Incredible work. I was very impressed at that work. I love watching these as a way to relax at the end of a day.
@@walterengler5709 Thank you friend for a nice comment and advice. Many people write about this method, soak in a rust remover and then into diesel. I haven't tried it yet. I find it quite lengthy. But it probably works :) Have a nice day Radek.
My understanding is that the red iron oxide swells and takes more space. That is what causes the binding. The black oxide is beneficial to the iron, and it takes up less space. Most rust removers/converters turn the red oxide into the black oxide. That helps the part loosen back up. Even just vinegar works fine.
Using electrolysis to remove rust may help 🙂
When you were first trying to loosen the screws and tapping on the different areas it almost sounded like music 🎶!!! I really enjoy your videos. Take care ❤.
Thank you Judith :) Radek
IT works. Damn good job. I had no idea there was ever such a device. Thank you for restoring this and posting.
First get pressure washer then will only subscribe. Seeing someone pressure wash to rusted irons parts is the most satisfying moment for viewers.
И всегда с нетерпением жду окончания работ, узнать, как работает устройство. Мастер класс!!!
Спасибо Марина :)
That was a tough one Radek. Really fused together, but with a lot of thought and a lot of skill, you did another great job. Thank you for sharing this video and introducing me to another amazing antique. John
Thank you very much John. Radek
My great grandma on my dad's side who wasn't asked me when I was in my youth if I knew what a bone grinder was for and I said it was to get rid of the old folks so they wouldn't be around to tell us how great it was that woman never looked at me the same way for the rest of her miserable life Amen
👉👍😉
Never heard of a bone grinder. Another interesting project -- well done! Thanks.
Thank you for your views Ben. Have a nice day Radek :)
I can truly say I've never seen a bone crusher before, thank you for your video it's been enterlightening to say the least! 😊
Thank you Scott ❤🇨🇿
This guy surely knows how to move a hammer fast!
TALENT & SKILL, NO MEASURING JUST EYE IT & DO IT.
You don't need to apologize for your English. Everything you write is totally understandable for me and everyone else. For the record, I'm not a real wizard, I'm just self-taught in many things. My real name is Michael Charles McCluskey and I'm 100% of Irish descent.
Thanks Michael :) Radek
I would have put the whole thing in an electrolyzing bath before touching any screws or bolts.
One thing I absolutely love about your restorations is you leave some of the age and character. Many restoration channels strip them and grind them so far as they look brand new...then what’s the point of having something old? Your restorations are always a perfect balance!!!
Thank you Kevin, I am of the same opinion that the old thing should look old even after the renovation, at least I do the things in my collection. But unfortunately there are people (and most of them, but I like it) who like it as if it fell out of the factory. Therefore, my fillings will have to be replaced by new ones - old ones to satisfy everyone. I hope this does not discourage you from watching our videos. Have a nice day Veronika and Radek :)
👍 Danke fürs Hochladen!
👍 Thanks for uploading!
👍 Very good and beautiful, thank you!
👍 Sehr gut und schön, danke!
I adore watching your work. Fabulous.
What better way to finish the bird than to let your pup have the rest. Nice job.
I sure bloody hope not. Did you see the goop he put on those grinding parts?
I actually worried this one was going to be impossible. It looked really "stuck". Amazing rehab rebuilding that arm part. I am pretty sure that "Rusty Bone Grinder" would be an excellent heavy metal band name. Rock on LOL.
Thank you Theresa. Yes, somebody has written to me that they will rename the band with this name :))
Wow, you did the best job and performance 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻💕💕💕
Amazing restoration of an object I wasn't previously aware of... Thanks for the entertainment and the education.
I thank you. :)
This used to belong to the giant from Jack and the beanstalk. He'd use it to grind the bones of Englishmen to make his bread.
Claro!!
Time to get the torch out. Nicely done ! 👍👍💚
Thanks :)
That HAS to be the highest percentage of stuck fasteners I've seen you encounter yet! Watching as you escalate from penetrating oil to heat to brute force to a cutoff wheel on the grinder gives me flashbacks to my days in aviation.
You should boil the bones to make a stock first before you grind them.
Big like to covering welding lite 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I am so jealous of this mans skills ! Well done yet again
Thank you for the compliment Pete :)
The speeding up of bolt breaking made this a super satisfying video!! Lol!
When you hit something with a hammer, BOLT IT DOWN SOLID TO SOMETHING HEAVY, otherwise, all the force is dissipated by the object moving
What he really needs is a Lisle tool
Como sempre, um trabalho impecável. Um ótimo ano novo.🇧🇷👍
Obrigado também Marcello :) Radek
It's so musical!
Good job...., Dark green most beautyful
Tip: keep a bucket of old parts cleaner to soak things like this overnight
What is 'parts cleaner' made of? Is there a substitute, like mineral spirits (or odorless mineral spirits)?
Could a night in Cola have worked?
Just toss it in a bucket of diesel, that stuff has a habit of getting everywhere and it won't dry out like that WD40 you were using.
I was thinking more of Electrolyses. For a couple of days.
Parabéns meu amigo ficou top. Saudações do Brasil.
Obrigado amigo, saudações ao Brasil da República Tcheca. Radek a Veronika
SORRY ABOUT THAT FOLKS. FOR THOSE THAT TRIED TO JUMP ON MY LIVE STREAM, YOOTOOB WOULDN'T LET ME LIVE STREAM. SORRY, I TRIED. THERE WILL BE A VIDEO LATER TONIGHT ON THIS, THE OPEN SOURCE NEWS/THE BLACK CONSERVATIVE PATRIOT CHANNEL. ~ BCP, 4 NOV 20 @ 2:23PM PST
Went from 'boneyard' to 'bon apetit'. Nicely restored!
Thanks :)
That was another hellish restoration.....................that roast chicken made me feel hungry.
Thank you Kevin :) And it was good without bread :)))
Sure, you can get bones ground with a new one, but if you really want to *feel* the bones grinding, nothing beats vintage.
Kdo umí tak umí.
That came out great! I really like the color. And I always like when you go into your stash of miscellaneous stuff and find something! Thank you for sharing
Thank you. My wife Veronika is responsible for the color. I originally wanted him green :)) Have a nice day and thank you for watching Radek.
Is somebody or some dog gonna eat that."? A lot of work to do what a Cuisinart could do.
@@a1ar127 It's for hens :)
Veradona Restoration .. the hens eat the hen bones?? Cannibals!! 😀
@@a1ar127 ... yes, and we eat chickens - chickens :))
Love your work, using what you have, re using scrap and other things to adapt - skills that are slowly becoming redundant in today’s society. Thanks for placing this online and keep doing what you do 👍👍
Thank you very much :) Radek
1st off I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! They're my go to when my brain is bored, someone who is the go to guy for a lot of people's repairs,I usually feel like alot of these restorations are "staged" with how things are rusted or just a gut feeling, this one for sure was not staged whatsoever! Great job on the restoration!
I'm glad, thank you for your trust :)
Most of all happy with the work done, this is a pet - a dog! :)
😁👍thanks Max❤🇨🇿
Another great restoration! I appreciate that you tell us what all the liquids or whatever you put on the pieces is. Thank you!
I thank you Matthew :) Radek
Slack response. Props.
it’s very cool. Filmed perfectly and interestingly
Love watching this guy fix what seems to be impossible. Habit forming..
I'm glad Emma :) Radek
Good grief there was plenty to do but it looks top-notch now beautiful but strenuous work well worth the watch tho thanks for the share.
13:30 my parents had the same wood stove in their home. Jötul . Best stove ever.
25:25 man's best friend... specially if you hold a piece of roasted chicken in your hand.
Yes stoves are perfect even if they are not antique :) Have a nice day Radek
this guy is a genius, respect.
Thank you Victotr :)
Me encantó el video y te felicito por el cariño hacia ese perrito divino!!!!!
Gracias Valentina :) El perro es una hembra de cinco años llamada Mona :)
- Let's weld this piece.
- Dude is cast iron, not iron. Do you want to just weld it with regular wire?
- Forget it - I do it for CZcams.
Welding sticks come in cast iron, too. I sure hope he used that type.
@@aprilbennett4161 do not forget that even in this case, cast iron requires preliminary heating for good quality
Anatoly Zhestov Preliminary heating and controlled cool down after welding
@gadzoo The virus Are you a trained welder? If so, can you tell why are we wrong in our comments?
Thank you for covering the welding, you seem to be the only one to do this!
Thank you, I have already been pointed out, so I respect it. Have a nice day Radek.
IT IS AMAZING HOW YOU PREFAB THINGS THAT YOU NEED. IT IS AWESOME TO SEE AND GIVES ME IDEAS AS WELL TO USE. GREAT JOB. WATCHING YOU FROM MISSISSIPPI IN THE USA
We are pleased, thank you Kelly :)
I adore watching you work. Fabulous.
Thank you, I really appreciate it . Have a nice day Radek and Veronika
Nice
Thank you :)
The process and how it was filmed and the 'sound track" made the final result nearly immaterial, though it too is spectacular. My senses enjoyed this from the first hammer tap to the final grind.................thank you!
Just turn sound off
Wow 😲😳look at the thing go
Rusty and old....Like I love it
:)
Again you amaze me with your talents. Most welders can't weld cast metal and you make it look easy. Finished product looks great too.
Thank David for your appreciation, I really appreciate it :) Have a nice day Radek
@@VeradonaRestoration , However, if you read machinist's views on the subject... it's far better to braze cast iron for a number of reasons.
Radek
Never hit materials that are cast iron, or that have any compound or materials with alliance because they crack they break! Let it soak in Kerocene Gasoil for 24 or 48 hours., Also if you heat the cast iron, you should do it in a place that is not windy, because it can break due to the change in temperature., To fix cracks in cast iron, you must first heat weld , and cool with an ash bath.
Nice scrap bin. I bet you have lots of fun fixing up that stuff.
Awesome ingenuity on a difficult tool!..Great restoration!!
Thank you Lee :)
I didn't know they had this. The answer to my basement full of bones problem. Yeah!
:)
That was an interesting restoration. Glad you used heat to break those bolts loose. Great job as usual!
Thank you, without a flame, I probably wouldn't do it. Have a nice day Dean . Radek.
What a great job. Thank you.
I thank you . Have a nice day Dyana :)
I love the way you keep your workbench clean. 😊
Thanks Lori :) Radek
"The Bone Grinder", sounds like a great little horror film.
“Rusty bone grinder” just sounds menacing. Lol. Great restoration!
Yes, but as you can see made :) Have a nice day from the Czech Republic Veronika and Radek :)
You are of the Texas ?
@@rosanavieira5787 Me? No, I live in Virginia, USA
It was the name of my Death Metal Band
sounds like a ginger porn star!!
Love that good ol bone grinding sound
:))
fabulous restoration
Thank you :)
Well done! Until the end, I was wondering why someone would grind bones! I thought you maybe had the idea to make one man body disapear! It is brilliant to use theses parts of the chicken to feed animals!
Thanks for the comment :)) But it would hurt my hand if I let the body disappear. Lol
Great job! Have you ever tried electrolytic rust removing? Should be more effective than brute force :)
Yes I did. It takes too long. I have to have everything now :)) Thanks Lukas :)
@@VeradonaRestoration Evaporust is a chelation treatment that works quite quickly, and I would expect a bit faster if gently heated. It really works wonders...
This is my new favorite! Incredible.
Thank you Michelle. I am pleased . Greetings from the Czech Republic Veronika and Radek.
@@VeradonaRestoration my friend said if u soak cast iron in a non flammable oil you wont crack it when u heat it....

Excelente trabajo! Quedo espectacular realmente.

Looks great, but I wonder about those welds when you start to crank on it.
Yes, sir. You can weld cast iron , but you must preheat it first. He, had the torch and everything.
Ну вот теперь может выкинуть туда , откуда он её достал!
Siempre que veo sus videos, también quiero ver a su hermoso perrito. Me encantan
Eso es lindo 😍, gracias Francisco :)
Iam from brazil you ar good on what you do exelante keep going GOD BLESE YOU AND FAMILY
Мне кажется ты сам новые вещи в болото кидаешь, а потом через время достаешь )
Этим обычно товарищи азиаты промышляют.
Lying in a bucket of MC51 overnight then a good soak with 40 overnight would have been so much easier but nowhere near as good a video ! This really put up a fight...
I remember in another episode that they said getting MC51 in their country wasn't possible as it didn't ship there. But my memory may be off.
Yes you have the perfect memory! Thank you
I really was hoping he'd use the torch, I wanted to see the color of the heated metal.
You did a great job for such a rusty old object... to get it working AND looking great is a wonderful achievement. Thank you for sharing your video!
Thank you very much.😊
Veradona Restoration Thank You! 😊
It looks beautiful ! Thank you for this video. ❤️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I thank you Keryl :) Radek
Это не реставрация, а чистка!!!! Еще и сломал.
Зато правдоподобно в отличие от азиатских товарищей которые делают капиталку электронике посредством промывки ее в воде с моющим средством
I feel like if you had just done a few single beads instead of just dots when you welded that piece together, it would of mad it stronger because it looked like the metal did not fuse with the base plate to well
GREAT JOB!
Amazing job! You have a gift my friend. God Bless you!
Thank you Edward :)
Rusty bone grinder? That's what my mom called my last girlfriend...
Supreme2k Jesus Christ dude
Was she a red head?..( No further questions about that bone thing)
@Supreme2k - Hmmmmmmmmmmm. A rusty.......... bone grinder or a rusty bone........ grinder?? [ebil grin]
Why is it when I see the title of this video, I hear it in my mind being said by the late wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage? ("Bonnnnne grinderrrrr!")
Spiderman. :P
"BONE SAW IS REEEEEEADY!"
At last someone who gets bolts and screws that dont come undone with just a squirt of WD 40 and you actually break something during dismantling and then have to fix it, well done my friend I know now that I am not alone. Cheers from down under.
Thank you for the recognition from someone who knows what he is doing. Thanks friend . Radek
Marvelous work.
Thank you :)
Nice resturation , but welding cast iron with mig? And then putting putty on those "welds"? Really? You have access to oxy-acetylen please braze cast iron next time. Greetings
nothing wrong with mig welding cast BUT, he needs to learn how to do it so that it would be strong. cold welding cast will easily break off. that's not strong at all, not even a little bit. i got up to that part and could not watch any further
The whole time I'm thinking, "use heat!!!".
Yes, I do not have it at home, so I always try without fire, but it is not always possible :) Have a nice day Francis :) Radek
