- Now that I have made 17 of this bowl, I decided to show you how I worked out the kinks since I made the first video, which was only the 4th bowl I had made. Let me know what you think. It is the most popular bowl I sell.

This is beautiful! I bought a clear plastic shower curtain at the dollar store and it comes right off my resin and I have been using the small bit I cut off for weeks. When I used the cling wrap I eventually just had to melt in in my sculpture. Anyway, again, another gorgeous piece!
Yes, I use a clear plastic table cloth for most of my other bowls - I just really love the cling wrap for the effect on this one. I find that shower curtains have a texture and I don't want that - but I did find one with a print on one side that is smooth so I bought it. Not sure if the pattern will annoy me when creating - I will have to see. Thanks for watching!!
@@SandyBeachBumTM Most shower curtains do have a texture, however I believe the one she is speaking of is actually a clear shower curtain 'liner'. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing from Dollar Tree, "Home Collection Clear PEVA Shower Curtain Liners, 70x72 in.". I haven't used them with resin yet but have purchased for other projects; they are basically just a clear plastic film, and lack texture. I looked up PEVA; the web claims it is "polyethylene vinyl acetate" and has a melting point of about 185 fahrenheit. By comparison, saran wrap (per web) has a melting point of about 220 degrees (the exact number cited varies but generally 220 and above). For thin resin casting these may be great; but I bring up melting point because when the resin is mixed the reaction can create heat. So thin projects may be totally fine, but for thicker projects (which may generate enough heat to melt plastic) I see people using silicone (stats vary but most silicone can handle ~400-450 degrees, and is popular for many applications including cooking as a result of this ability). I've also seen videos of people using resin for wood and log furniture utilizing molds made of things like melamine (often caulked at the edges and sprayed with mold release just in case), and either Tyvek tape or wrestling mat tape has been used for oddly shaped objects (like the outside of logs). The tapes don't hold much weight however, so in those applications it is usually utilized to pour a thin lightweight layer of resin (a base layer), which they then allow to stabilize before pouring the rest.
Wow, I love how organized, clean and artistic you are, love your work. I love how you always talk about ur work, nothing else... thank you very much

My gosh, that is gorgeous! Well done!
Wow looking gorgeous.
Stunning!
I've watched a few of your videos. In fact, you helped inspire my first wave bowl. It turned out okay, but not perfect. I really want you to know how beautiful your white lacing--it is stunning. The finished bowl is so beautiful.
Stunning piece. I love how you answer people's questions in the comments. So many CZcamsrs don't do that
Amazing! Love it so much
Just gorgeous. l love the color , shape and nature captured in that vase .

It's a gourgessness!!!!
Beautiful. I would love to try a make one one day.
Amazing
Hi.I’m a new subscriber and new into this art.I like the way you explain very well for beginners.Thank you.
Thank you so much 😀
I came back to send one of the older videos of the bowl to a friend and found this one only 2 hrs old! Love your videos (and talking and music if you choose to do so!). Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
And thank YOU for not only watching, but sharing them as well!!! 💦💙💦
BTW- this comment is on an old video, not the new 2 hour old one. 😊
Very beautiful
I loved this artwork! If I had seen this video just a couple days ago I would have avoided ripping my alphabet mold with the torch as well lol
Very pretty.
Thank you! 😊
I love your work have great Ideas,. Just as suggestion I use a clear glossy shower curtain. I also put second resin on gems
Beautiful! CONGRATS! Please, tell me what kind of resin you use!
That was Art Resin but I have since switched to New Classic.
Love all of your bowls.....just found you but have watched several videos this morning such beautiful work ......I have never done anything like this but wondering if you put something like oil on the cling wrap it fi would come out easier for you or if it would effect the resin??
No I just pour right onto the wrap. Once the resin is fully cured it peels right off.
This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for your insight and guidance through your videos. So I need a heat gun and torch? The torch is for air bubbles and lacing; and, the heat gun to assist with mixing the colors? Thank you 🌸
The heat gun also removes bubbles and then going over with the torch gets rid of the rest. And yes, I use the heat gun or a blow dryer to move the white and then the torch to get the lacing. Thanks for watching!
Hello friend, I love your work, it is beautiful and very inspiring. I also sigh a lot, no matter if I'm stressed or totally calm. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and many greetings from a Uruguayan from Mexico. (I used Google Translator, so I´m not sure if my grammar is correct...)
Thank you. And your grammar was perfect.
What would happen if you lightly sprayed your plastic wrap with a spray silicone lubricant before pour? Thinking of easier release.
Very nice! Question about the crystals.... did you mix resin into the cup before you spread them around edge?
Yes. I added about an ounce of resin to the crystals before placing around the edge.
Do you have any wrecking yards close by? If so you could call and ask them if they have any broken glass? I'm sure they do.
You can use Pam for release too, much cheaper.
Hi Sandy! I love watching you work, you make amazing sculptures. How do you determine how much resin to mix and use? I know for this project you said 3/4 cup is good...I’m referring to projects you make on border less surfaces, like tablecloth?
It's trial and error... if I want the bowl to run a lot, like Rainy Day Splash, then I use more and started straight off with 1 cup per piece and it works great. If you watch my first bowl video I used way too much and that gave me a good idea of how much I would actually need from that point forward. Thanks for watching!!
Can you use a blow dryer instead of a blow torch?
I am also from Canada and I would love to know what you charge for things when you make these videos I would love to try something like this but I’m not good at charging keep up the beautiful videos your work is outstanding saying hi from Nova Scotia❤
You can make your own cut glass. There are several videos on CZcams on how to make it.
Просто нереальная красота! Шедевр! Очень красиво!
I just love watching you create. Question, approximately how big is that bowl? Perspective is sometimes harder to judge when watching on video. Also, approximately how many ounces of resin did you use? It is very hard to get here in Mexico, so I do like to have approximate ideas. If I can manage to make one of these, I will share the picture with you, if you would like. Keep on creating!
These bowls tend to turn out about 8-10 inches from end to end. I use 8 oz resin.
Not sure if this would work but how about the dog halos they put on dogs head? They all kind of sizes. You can maybe shape it to be wavy and put this on top of the bowl.
This is a gorgeous piece and your tutorials are wonderful. Thank you. I have a question about a technique that is a little different from yours and you may not have encountered any problems or even used this method. I tried a wave from a flat form you made from aluminum foil. I was successful in making the form and lined it with a ordinary grocery bag. Poured the resin and waited until it was mold-able and removed the aluminum foil and left the plastic. After molding it around a round jar and allowing the for piece to sit for abut 8 hours, I removed the back plastic without any problem, but the front plastic is terribly stuck. Any ideas on why and on how to remove it? I didn't use heavy plastic to allow from texture to develop. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
Did you heat the resin with a torch to remove bubbles while on that plastic? That can cause the two to fuse if the resin gets hot enough. Try heating the resin with a heat gun to remove the plastic.
Love your work! I am wondering about the difference between india ink and alcohol ink?
I find I get a stronger colour with India ink - but I am still trying out various brands of alcohol inks and will do a video using some soon! Thank you for watching!
This is lovely . I’d like to try it . I’ve watched both versions and seemed to have missed the link to the products used .
They’re all in the description. Thank you for watching!
Thanks . I was looking in the incorrect area .
Beautiful work! how much do you charge for something like this?
$95 US
What’s the difference between the heat gun and the torch that you use, will they both do the same thing?
The heat gun blows the resin and the torch brings out the lacing.
Beautiful, stunning work. You are so gifted.
What do you charge for a bowl?
From Jacksonville Fl
This bowl is $95 plus shipping. Thank you for your kind words!! 💙
$95? How much did all the ingredients cost you?
That is beside the point - the cost is for my time, not just to make it but for all the time I spent learning and throwing away one’s that didn’t work. It is a hand made piece of art. Also, if you look on Etsy, people charge over $200 for resin bowls. I feel my price is very fair.
got a question, why not wait longer before removing the form from the forming base?
If it sets up too hard it’s difficult to remove because of the shape of the mould.
If you call auto glass places and ask. I'm sure you can get broken glass there also.
What do you use the bowls for? Can you serve food in them?
They are decorative. Not for food. You could put fruit or wrapped candy in it.
Beautiful what is the gold button on the bottom and where do you get them
They are brass discs from Amazon and I have an engraver who engraves my signature onto them.
@@SandyBeachBumTM Oh, now THAT is a cool idea. Beautiful work like this deserves to be signed.
You can get fire pit glass cheap from BBQ Boys look up on Google. That is where I get mine.
I will check that out... thanks!!!
So I don't know how to use CZcams ;) where do I find a link to the pigments and various products you use
Below in the description.
Instead of heating the resin to release surface bubbles, spraying alcohol across the surface works well.
Yes I have used that since and it does work but don't use it on anything where you don't want the effect you have achieved disturbed or changed. I learned that the hard way.
can this vase get stiff?and what material is it made of?
Its made with resin and it cures hard if the correct brand of resin is used.
But why your resin is thick?? Are you putting more hardener or what?? Please answer??
You leave the resin to start to cure before moulding it.
Did u use Vaseline for the wrap?
No. I just poured right onto the wrap.
Try LIGHTLY spraying the cling wrap with mold release before you pour.
Actually, my latest video I talk about how letting the resin cure till it’s rockhard means that the cling wrap separates easily. I use a different Resin now, which is quick curing.
How do I see your work for sale ?
I would like to send a piece to my daughter.
On Facebook, look up SandyBeachBum and then go to the photo album named For Sale. I post everything I have available there. If you see something you want, PM me with what it is and the name of it. Thanks!!!
Are you still doing videos? I just found your page!!
Yes! I’m just really busy with my day job at the moment. 😩
Oh yay! I love your videos! Those day jobs really get in the way!
Was under the impression that you had to use a mask when working with resin. When I didn’t wear a mask, my throat would be killing me! I have a huge craft room with windows and even a ventilation system. It has been about two years since I have touched resin because of that. How does it not bother you, are you using a specific type of resin?
I can’t wear a mask because I am extremely claustrophobic. I specifically purchase a low fume resin from new classic resin a Canadian company., And I also use an air filter. It honestly doesn’t bother me at all.

Hey sweetie Rubbing Alcohol 99% if you just spray on your resin you can watch the air bubbles pop and move to the top and pop also if you want to try it instead of the heat
I have since tried this. It only works for some items. It can ruin the effect created on others - I have discovered.
@@SandyBeachBumTM okay I will keep my mouth shut and just enjoy ALL YOUR BEAUTIFUL ART
No worries. I appreciate the suggestion!! 😊
Put baby powder on your hands , used gloves slip on easier.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
