That Fitbit Subscription is a real downer for that otherwise really attractive device!
i mean if you get an apple watch its more or less the same
pay extra for health statistics is disgusting
Would have been pretty cool if you tested the watch for a full day of heavy use (long exercise, etc). Curious how long the battery lasts in those situations.
No dura nada ni un día!
So they want me to pay $350 for the watch then $120 a yr to use the best features on the watch??
After 12 hours of lite use and AOD off, my battery drained only 37%.
What a way to really gloss over battery life giving basically no info..."When I did nothing, it lasted long! When I did things, it drained faster"...duh? How about dive deeper into that, like how good/bad the drain was?
😂
The battery is similar to Apple watch.
Agreed. She basically just complained about GPS draining it more quickly. I think this is universally true for smart watches.
It will last a day. It’s a given with pixel watches unless there was drastic improvement, they’re all the same. For in-depth watch reviews there are other channels out there.
It’s not a battery review
Love my first gen pixel watch so I can't wait to get the 2nd!
Do update about the battery life with moderate use and AOD off.
How do you use the heart rate zones feature? That doesn't appear in run settings for me.
Totally agree with "what's still missing". If Google changes those things you mention at the end, I'm a buyer.
What about the rate in which it drained during your workout? That is a crucial piece of information missing in this video.
I like the design. It's much more comfortable then apple and galaxy watches. I have the original I really liked it. New version looks like it's going to fix what I didn't like before. Battery workout detection etc.
I have the first one too, which I like very much. What I was hoping for with the new one was different size options. I would love for it to be a little bigger
Great review!!
Maybe mentioning the speaker quality would of been very helpful?!?!
Battery time still in hours.. in stead of days or weeks. 🔋💩
Can't trust cnet.
Like every smartwatch?
@@sbashir9460 You must have never traveled outside your front door. Garmin, Polar, Amazfit, and Ticwatch are all considered to have smartwatches that last in the days category so no
I managed to get mine on ebay for 235 brand new, thought that was a steal for what they're trying to sale it for since it's still new. Mine works great, I love the design, and that it has fitbit in it. I don't bother with paying them for premium, that's a rip off on top what you paid for the watch in the first place.
As long as the pixel watch 2 has a more responsive UI than the Sense 2 I'm sold.
The pixel watch apparently gets the same battery as the apple watch and watch6, is that what they're saying?
Battery on the watch is essential
My garmin mk2 watch last 14days on a full charge
Of course its not the same, but everything i do on the waych can be done on the phone
The watch needs to track and do other stuffs
I dont need "another" phone on my wrist
So it's basically a fitness monitor and if you want full advantage of it, it's $10 a month more. I'll guess I'll go with the ear buds on the pixel 8 deal.
I got $135(CAD) of google store credit with the 2TB premium Google One plan. Meaning that when I do want to buy the Buds Pro, I can get a large amount of the price slashed, making the Buds way cheaper. Getting a free watch is just far better value. Whether you want to actually keep it, or even sell it.
@@Amadeus_but if you buying the pixel 8 non pro, you would still have to pay $150 for the wrist watch and seeing how it doesn't really have that many features that I care about, the earbuds are better deal
no it works fine with out it
I admittingly didn't know much about smartwatches, until I purchased the Pixel 8 Pro and chose the Watch 2. I honestly thought (without research) that I could use the Watch 2 as a replacement for my Forerunner 235. I need to return the Watch 2 once I get it...
Nah bruh check it out for yourself.. never go by what credits say
I was nervous it would be too small. Not at all! I would not want it to be bigger and heavier. I have pretty large wrists.
This watch is a million times better than my former Fitbit Versa 2.
I hope you plan on doing a longer-term review on this. Let us know how it works after say 3 months.
I'm sticking with my Fitbit Sense. The battery life is much better.
"best android smart watch you csn buy today"
Riiiiiight.
Does it still have the 80% bezel of the first one?
Yes
It has all 100% and it's thiiiic
Great review!
Would not think twice about getting the Pixel Watch 2 if it got a battery life upgrade. Maybe Pixel watch 3. I love its simplistic and clean look.
The massive draw back for me isn't so much battery life as it is battery degradation. If you were to buy a conventional watch you can be assured you have a timepiece that will last a lifetime if you look after it. Just swap out a coin battery every year or two and you're sweet. But if the Pixel Watch (and indeed any smart watch, to be clear) has a battery life that is only decent on the day you buy it, what's it going to be like in three years time? We shouldn't have to keep buying a brand new device just because of battery degradation. For me, user replaceable batteries should be the highest priority. We should be able to get 10 years out of these things. I really don't think this is unreasonable, especially given the price of smart watches.
I think with tech, it's a bit touchy. Even if the battery didn't degrade as quickly as it does, there is the issue of compatibility with software updates over that 10 year period.
uhhh... a traditional watch lasts a life time because it's not using lithium ion batteries which degrade... Traditional watch can just replcae hte battery. Im not sure your argument holds any water to logic.
@@rigneynathan ....which is why I am asking for user replaceable batteries if you read my entire comment.
@@rigneynathan you are adding to my argument. A cell battery in a traditional watch is not sufficient to push the technology in a smart watch, hence the need to change the device in 3 to 4 years as opposed to having it for a lifetime.
@@mortimerlivan557 you say that but there's already been a smart watch that uses replaceable batteries and it lasted a "year". I believe it was a fossil.
That so called Fitbit integration is just forced shopping and exactly what's holding me back from buying a Pixel watch. One has to keep on paying extra in order to decently use a watch one has already paid for.
It's a shame they can't measure sugar
Or sodium
If the battery life was such a big issue (it is) then I really think a review should have spent a significant portion on it.
I haven't had an issue with mine yet and I do 3 work outs a day approximately 4-5 hours worth, when i got to bed its normally at about 25%.
@@nomumaster i don't know if my unit is faulty but I do 2-3 walks a day and weight training every other day and my watch is dead by 2am ish. It needs a charge in the middle of the day/evening
I have this and the paid Fitbit tracking commits me to resell it. I should have gotten a Samsung watch 6.
Google we wan a free watch with pixel 8 pro in australia
I still don't understand how a google pixel watch 2 can't dismiss an alarm set on a google pixel 8 pro. Isn't this basic smart watch stuff?!?
Why does NOBODY talk about the fact the cellular connectivity is COMPLETERLY UNRELIABLE?
Just wish it was square instead of round. A round watch feels outdated to me.
Maybe the PX watch 4 will be better
Testing the heart rate accuracy while sitting still isn't that helpful
Dissapointing to know you need s fitbit sub to get information like a readiness score...
Also the bad battery life and big bezelz make it a pass for me. Maybe next year.
110bpm is too much honey.. you must drink more and more water every day at least 1.5lt.
You Americans are so missing out on the Huawei watches we have over here in the UK - I've a GT4 The Pixel watch looks awful and has a horrendous battery life (2 weeks on mine). Only here because I'm getting this watch free with my Pixel 8 Pro ..
Google should make a pixel note Ultra 2024..💯💯💯💯💯
So I'm not going to talk bad about you. Just answer this. How long does the battery last without always on display?
Nice!
that battery life is pretty disappointing.... my fitbit versa 2 is 5 years old and only goes down to about 66% after one day.. and charges up to 99% while I do the morning routine..
True, but I have a $20 cheapo smart watch that, while it can last 5-7 days on a single charge, only has 10-20% of the features that the Pixel has.
It's a balancing act between physical battery size and battery usage. They can only make it so large without it becoming uncomfortably bulky. The trick is software optimization, and that's an area that I tend to trust Google on.
Wow really ? My Versa 2 barely lasts a day and I've had it for 2 years now. I do use Always-On display though
That bezel ...
24 hr battery is a joke for a 2nd genereation watch.
Die form ist nicht schön und sie ist zu klein..akku müsste besser sein.. naja bei mir kommt sie in November an. Denke werde sie verkaufen.
Way better than Apple Square watches 🤮
I thought Xaiomi watch 2 pro is the best android watch
Still not as good as the Tic watch pro 5... honestly Google is still behind
let me know when ticwatch update to wear os 4
It's the same as Gen 1. Unless you're a fitness nut. It's not a smart watch, It's a fitness wearable for women. Same small 41mm size. Swing and a miss Google.
You are being disrespectful
I'm still rocking a mechanical Tissot. Who's with me?
Unacceptable batterylife
I still can't figure out a use case for a smart watch. And that's a lot of health data to be sharing with a company like Google. Wait until your insurance company starts looking at your data to deny you coverage based on your "stress levels" or your lack of exercise.
Lmaoo what is this the 1980s?
@soberanisfam1323 it might surprise you to know I work in the technology field implementing systems for financial institutions. I'm hardly a Luddite. But I am very privacy conscious, particularly with personal and health information.
@@lisaboban then you are the almost perfect candidate to know very few things are private online
I think it's worth $299
yeah. this seems more on par with the apple watch se than a watch 9 or galaxy watch 5. anyway, I'm gonna wait until it goes down to $299 for the holidays before I buy
Stop moving your body to every single word
Best looking? I really think it looks like a cheap plastic toy watch. Very cartoonish. The bezels are terrible as well. But that’s just my opinion
Way better than apples fisher price square watches lol😂
Prepare to get it for free since no hardly anyone will buy one 😅
This is too much tech. Get a life and live simply.
Good advice on the live simply part. Too much tech can create more stress
Review is so bad and so American. No fact based or number based tests
Very good review!!
