    Right off a main road, covered in thick brush, trees, and bushes, sits a forgotten, dilapidated house, seemingly untouched for many years. While not much is known about this house for certain, my limited research leads me to believe that this house was constructed in 1927, and was likely abandoned sometime in the 1990s. Today, this derelict house sits completely abandoned among a neighborhood of active homes in the small town of North Stonington, Connecticut. While the interior of the house is mostly gutted and empty, a few remnants remain that give minor, vague clues about this structure's past.
    I was lucky enough to receive the coordinates and address for this abandoned house from a fellow urban explorer and fan of the channel, so thank you big time for this opportunity! While the house is mostly empty, I nonetheless had a fantastic time exploring this mysterious abode as I attempted to ascertain when and why it was abandoned. Clearly, though, this thing has been abandoned for many years, as evident by the unkempt forest of brush surrounding the house, and the exterior structural damage. There are several remnants of the past scattered around as well, from old mattresses to coupons dating back to the '90s to even a long lost teddy bear. This obscure abandoned Connecticut home is truly a unique, albeit mysterious, site to explore! When I was a kid in the 60's I'm pretty sure this place sold ice cream on the lower floor front of the house. There were three large wicker globes on poles out from that had strings of lights attached. One commentor mentioned the family having a house boat that was a snack bar moored at Beach Pond in Voluntown. I believe that partially sunk in the late 70'.

    Lived in Rhode Island, and never thought of New England as a place where there would be abandoned places.

      Even in Rhode Island, there are a lot of abandoned spots! I’ve been to quite a few over there myself!

    Welcome back. I love to see how these old houses were laid out. They knew how to make a house look like a home.

    The bottles in that house were most likely from visitors AFTER the house was abandoned. ALL the construction (wall studs and chimney/fireplace) looks much later than 1920s.

      @j-mass  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah, I’m sure the house has had many renovations since 1927. I’m not even sure if that date is 100% verifiable, as information about this house was scarce, but that was the best date of construction I could find.

    It was built as a tavern on the trolley line to Norwich. Route 2 was as dirt road then . Then it became may other things. I think it ended as a resident in the 1980s .

      The most reliable information on old buildings is the older locals at county fairs. The livestock and produce folks know everything about where they live .

      Nice! I saw that a couple real estate websites mentioned the 1927 build date but I wasn’t sure how accurate that was, so I’m glad to see some more verification here!

      If you’re looking for abandoned spots in the North Shore, one I’d recommend is the Highover Estate in Beverly (I also made a video there back in 2022), it’s a cool place!

      I do have the exact address, although I’m admittedly not super comfortable commenting it publicly here… if you’re interested, feel free to DM me on Instagram! As for parking, I had some trouble with parking as the “closest” public parking space was pretty far away… I had to do a lot of walking to get here 😂

    My father knew the family that lived there. In the 1970s, they had a snackbar-bargeboat that they towed up to Beach pond in Voluntown,Ct. Back in the still hippie days in the area.
