Maybe my view is biased since I have a special needs child with Autism, but I feel the boyfriends sentence is too harsh. With everything we all know, he shouldn't have gotten life in prison. If Gypsy gets to walk free, as she should, the boyfriends sentence should be reduced greatly. If Nick hadn't stepped in, Gypsy would have died in that situation.
He may be autistic, but he's also really sick. She didn't stab her mother, he did.
He also had a lot of other issues too, and I dont think autism had to do anything with what he did to Gypsy after the murder

I definitely see this story as having a profound impact on society. Gypsy Rose Blanchard is like the Amy Fisher of the 2010's.
You can’t convince me that she didn’t plan this entire murder, and that includes setting up her autistic boyfriend to take most of the heat. It didn’t take long to see how utterly lost and confused that dude was during his interrogation, and I’m even more surprised that they gave him life, especially considering his disability. In my opinion, gypsy is the real life gone girl. All she had to do was give him sex, and tell him that he’s loved, and he could be manipulated into doing anything she asked for

I think there is a good chance Dee Dee knew the walls were closing in and was likely planning her coup de grace. One last poisoning, then she could announce that her daughter was finally at peace. She had peacefully passed away from her medical conditions, ever playing the dutiful mother. I think it was Gypsy or Dee Dee. Gypsy moved first and that is why she is alive today

This is a very complicated story I’m not quite comfortable that she’s out in public. I mean she’s still a murderer, but at the same time she would never have done this if her mother had an abused her.

Her boyfriend who killed her mom for her got the shaft! I get it, he killed her, but she was the mastermind of it, even though she didn't have any education, she still knew what was going on. She got 10 years and he got life. More times than not the masterminds get off with a few years and the killer get a life sentence. The justice system is a joke. A woman gets mercy.
Everything she said in this interview is different than Dr Phil. “She only screamed one time” “I heard my mother scream for me 4 times”
“Nick was the ONLY one I told that I wasn’t sick”. “I told Dan everything! My real age, what my mother was doing to me, and he said pack your stuff, you can live with me”
Despite those obstacles and chains that completely bounded her life, she manage to find the light at the end of the road, with new life and hope...
I kinda see this murder more as self defense vs murder. She was trying to save herself from her mom.

Control has been her life from birth, and the one time she took it for herself, she did a bad thing. I never know how to feel about this especially as it seems her ex seemed to be on the higher spectrum of autism and seemed to be presumably coerced. From a psychological pov, it's unnerving. But from a humanistic pov, it's understandable. I guess the real question is.....was there another way and why was this way taken?

I feel so sorry for this girl. However, no matter what, the reason for murdering her mother was wrong, and she paid for it by going to prison. She pled guilty, so she took responsibility and she has to live with that for the rest of her life. I am frustrated more by a system that did not help this girl before it snowballed into what happened. I feel like all of this could have been avoided if people, either family or doctors, had spoken up. I only hope that she gets the mental help she needs to deal with the years of abuse she underwent and that she can find a way to live as normal and happy life as possible.

Long story short he got to talk to her in prison and covered pretty much everything up to that point he considered what Dee Dee had was a severe case of child abuse not a mental illness

Premeditated murder is never right.. but Gypsy really had little to no choice. Dee Dee not only threatened her, but made it absolutely clear if it was a choice between the gravy train or Gypsy's life, Gypsy's life wasn't worth anything to her. Like it or not, Gypsy deserves the life her mother tried to deny her by using her in her Munchausen By Proxy schemes.

She was involved in the killing of her mom. If she’s able to get away from her mom and get someone to pick her up, and have a walkthrough of the house , IMO, she is just as guilty. She knew the truth and , was old enough to know it and still chose to have her mom killed. I feel sorry for what she went through, but she had the choice to speak up. She knew better. I’ve dealt with a few horrible adults in my life. I had 2 bad bus drivers when I was in high school. One who abused me by making fun of my fears of storms. Another would threaten to throw me into said storm. I even had a teacher who said that I would never make it out in life or get a boyfriend. And my now late grandmother said I was pathetic.

Related, I just learned that Gypsy's mother Dee Dee was not mourned by her family, and her ashes were flushed down the toilet. They said that Dee Dee deserved her fate and believed that Gypsy had been punished enough over a childhood of relentless suffering. I like their energy.

Due to her unnaturally sheltered childhood, the abuse her mother perpetrated on her for years, and the influence of her mentally disturbed boyfriend, Gypsy is now in a VERY vulnerable position. She is ripe for more exploitation now from media vultures and other types who only want to make a buck out of her and care nothing for her wellbeing. She's out there in the world now with none of the coping skills most of us gain in the first few decades of our lives. I don't even think she had much of an education. I fear for her safety. We tend to repeat patterns we are familiar with, which means she may well be drawn into situations she has no control over. She recently got married, but people have commented (not jokingly) that her new husband reminds them of her mother. She is like an egg without a shell. Not many people are remarking on this as they praise her for her bravery and express sympathy for what she has been through. But her ordeal is far from over. I think a new chapter of exploitation may be beginning with all this media attention. MOST famous people eventually end up miserable, even if they have all the usual defenses of adulthood - and she doesn't. If you're a praying person, you'd better pray for her now.

Can we, as a collective, understand the suffering she went through, and STOP putting it back in the spotlight. I'm sure Gypsy would appreciate to leave it behind to start her healing journey. I met my wife when she was 17 and I was 24 so I know about the age difference, but we never went down this road. My wife was 27 and I was 34 when our firstborn came into our lives forever.
