New to the channel? I do Let's Play videos -- these are like walkthrough guides of gameplay with continuous English commentary trying to explain my decisions and what strategy I use. If you're looking for hacks or cheats, you're in the wrong place! - Hry
Music is a bit loud
Ideology adds a crop named Fibercorn which "produces a small amount of a wood-like substance" and does not require research to plant. Listed harvest yield is 2.
I believe it was meant to allow tree-huggers to get wood, but it is also a way to get wood before researching tree planting.
Quill! I love your rimworld playthroughs! Nexology was so good, as is this. Your videos are a real safe & happy place for me. I leave re-runs on at night while I am sleeping!
When I play rimworld myself I get overly micromanagie and I also get stressed & dishartened at adversity! I love how you face all the conflicts and break downs. Seeing Hope beat and imprison fellow members when necessary was excellent.
The things Hope had to do...
Hope things are great with you and thanks for the content!
🙏
Love your rimworld playthroughs! Thanks for continuing to make them :)
I can barely hear what you are saying as the music is quite loud. Love your rim world playthroughs!
😂 I was so excited for Anomaly playthroughs to watch and I was thinking "Oh, I like Quill, I'll watch this one". . . I forgot that he plays Rimworld like a monster.
Many points in this video your voice goes way lower than the game's music.
It looks like the "missing" corners/diagonals on your fence don't count as "walls" . You can see the pawns run through them so I assume animals can as well. I think the fence does basically nothing at this point.
Animals can't walk thru fence diagonals, but they /can/ eat thru them. There are other disadvantages too, but that's the most relevant ATM
Pawns can traverse any fence, just at reduced speed. What you witnessed is not indicative of what animal pathing can do. Every animal type (and pawn) has a trait that indicates if they can cross fences or not. For example, Cobras can go through any fence.
@@EclecticFruit
I know, but I didn't see a reduced speed for the couple of instances I saw in this video. If I had, I wouldn't have said anything. I should have clarified that. It looked to me like it acted like there was no fence whatsoever instead of what I expected to happen, a decrease in speed while climbing over the fence. But I might be wrong, I probably should have just kept my mouth shut, I am not at all an expert on this game like a lot of people are. I just watched enough of Quill playing it and have played it myself for 100 hours or so and it has been years since I did (I am honestly afraid of starting it up because I find it impossible to stop playing).

Just finished episode 1 this is great timing :)
May we request a fogless playthrough this time?
You could have put the nutrient paste machine a title back and you built it to line up with the wooden walls not the actual ones
Would leave more space for hoppers too
I'm so hyped for this!
Quill music was wicked loud in this episode
If you can make an emu proof fence the game is wildly unrealistic and tbh needs urgent patching
Diagonal building just looks awful, and I don't know why it counts as indoors when there is a clear visible gap.
Low key hoping hope gets psionic abilities as she becomes bionic
At the start you had Gomp set to not eat human meat.
final fantasy 7 vibes planting a garden in doors.😊
2:08 jeez Quill, how rude! Gomp is a canabal, not a savage 😅
How do you have the collapsed UI for your materials on the top left
It's one of the options in the bottom right, under speed options, with Expand Home Zone, View Beauty, View Room Stats, etc.
honest question
would a human be able to survive on raw rice?
Like, is the body capable of metabolizing raw rice for energy and stuff?
Not likely. Raw rice can contain B ceresus which can cause food poisoning (no way to know in the field if your rice is tainted, so you’r always assume it’s all tainted). Raw rice also has proteins called lectins that the rice uses as a natural insecticide which make it harder for your body to absorb nutrients and we cannot digest these lectins, meaning that without the insertion of heat to break down these lectins, you aren’t like to get any substantive amount of nutritional value from the raw rice. Also, because you’re not digesting the rice properly, the chances that you do damage to your gastrointestinal tract as the rice leaves your body increases significantly.
Also, and this one is less significant in the short-term when weighed against starvation and internal bleeding from damage to GI tract, eating raw rice can damage your teeth.
@@longliverocknroll5 I dont know who you are, but thank you kind stranger for the awesome info.
ps: how/why do you know so much about the subject? work with agronomy or something?
@@PamdaDev i actually knew some of the basic info from nutrition classes (i remembered that it was a risk for food poisoning and that it wasn’t properly digestible) I took as part of my health science degree, but had to double-check what the specifics were before posting
@Chubbyemu has a video on eating rice / pasta left out at room temp. (don't do it). czcams.com/video/5ujTYLV2Qo4/video.htmlsi=nt8zf_vmt308lPce
food poisoning is very serious, and can quickly get out of hand. Baccilus cereus can quickly colonize cooked rice and pasta left out at room temp.
biotech made some proximity hauling into the base game, but it is quite weak, only haul from a few tiles nearby and won't pick up even if they literally walk over the same thing beyond that few tiles range. enough for food and mining, but don't expect ideal results.
without mods, i have to repeatedly click a pile to haul until everything is close enough they'll haul everything.
I'm glad you changed to Randy
You can grow fiber corn which I believe produces wood
He could but fiber corn is not worth it, it is just easier to research tree growing and growing them. The only time you use fiber corn is if your ideology forbids messing with trees
@@kh29the13I think you can also grow it in hydroponics, so that could be another reason to grow it
@@caltheuntitled8021hydroponics before tree sowing? There's really no reason to grow fibercorn except in the period before tree growing. Ideology excepting.
@@skorpiongod I think he means for nuclear fallout and other reasons he can't plant outside.
@@skorpiongod I mean, you can’t grow trees indoors. If you have a toxic fallout or nuclear winter, you can grow fiber corn in hydroponics to keep a supply of wood. It’s also helpful if you have a very limited amount of growable soil on the map. I’m not saying it’s always the way to go, just that there are situations where it might be useful.
