Awesome video, but honestly when I read the title of the video I was like âTell me something I donât know âđ
He truly is an insanely impressive athlete
Not just fittest, but the best athlete. He covers all areas of being a superior athlete than everyone else.
100%
The legend has it ... Matt Fraser uses de Crossfit Games as a Warm Up
I am only going to repeat what others say but your documentary style vid. is first class. Keep it up as there is no such thing as too much CF content. Thanks!
Awesome video dude! Love watching this channel grow đđȘđȘ
Amazing video
Loved your three parts series
Used to hate on CrossFit but this dude makes it look fun. All the hate I comments can suck it. This is overall fitness. Strength and cardio. Bringing up elite sprinters, marathoners and weightlifters is not a valid comparison.

Respect for how he and so many other's say : progress not perfection đȘ
Great video as always!
Just a suggestion: maybe the volume of music can be lowered and the volume of your narration can be louder.
Music at 2:12 is 8x louder than the rest of the video- watch your ears!
would like to see a similar video of Tia Tommey also. She has achieved equally in the women's field what Mat has achieved for men.

Of coarse you have to do Tia next.
142k is nowhere near what he deserves against comparable sports. This guy is Super human
He makes a lot more then that. I think this years 1st place menâs winner got 300k
Heâs made over 1mil in CrossFit and he has a Nike endorsement
Well heâs certainly earned it. Full credit
For every CrossFit game win (first place) he got 300k, the 142k was only for the event wins... so he got 1.5mil for the 5 championships... and thatâs only the money he got from the games...
Mat Fraser 2021 and 2022 crossfit games winner
I tuly believe that Jason Medeiros will be the next "Matt Fraser".
Justin and Haley will be the next Matt and Tia

Thatâs awesome. I live in GA and have been trying to get a hold of him cause Iâm a tattoo artist and wanna tattoo him. Got any pointers on how I could do that? Lol.
Whats his marathon time?
I wonder if, when him and Tia crossed the finish line together he knew he was going to retire.
My 6 yr old son: "Dad, Matt Fraser can't fly though right?"
Me: "No.. I suppose that's one thing he can't do"
Until it's an actual event at the Games.
And then everybody clapped
Mat will take his 6th an then 7th title and retire on top where no one will ever match his win streak.
Isnât that what people said about Froning? It will take a few years but itâs really not impossible for another dedicated talented individual to come alone and do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to keep going beyond 7
Nope...retired at 5 đ
Sad to see him go, such an amazing athlete

Not the fittest on earth, but the best crossfitter on earth
Agree. Fit? Yes. Amazing athlete? Yes. Fittest crossfitter (verified)? Yes. Fittest on earth? - hype. Cut the hype, credit where it is due. Quit the marketing already. We get it. CrossFit is amazing and Iâve been doing CrossFit for many years, but all it is is exercise. Perspective.
Eddie Hall has videos called 'HUMAN DUMBBELL ROWS WITH WORLDS FITTEST MAN! ROSS EDGLEY' (Sorry about the caps copied and pasted from Eddie's video) and 'Worlds Fittest Craziest Athlete?! Podcast Ft. Ross Edgley' How many 'world's fittest men' are there?
Like huh? Who determined CrossFit was the end all be all of fitness? LOL
What is comparable?
@@stayferal291 Nothing. There are too many factors to determine fitness. Agility, speed, stamina, recovery, strength, resting and active heart rates, protein synthesis, red blood cell activity, oxygen to blood ratios, etc.
Now if he were running decathlons, triathlons, running the 400 meter, swimming the 100 meter, deadlifting 1000lbs and 19 other things then maybe
Yeah to test fitness youâd need to test Cardiovascular / respiratory endurance - The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.
Strength - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
Flexibility - The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.
Power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
Agility - The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
Balance - The ability to control the placement of the bodyâs center of gravity in relation to its support base.
Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.
@@stayferal291 It would almost be impossible to have all of that in one human being though. They would quite literally have to be superhuman. Strength and stamina are two very oppositional physical attributes. A large man, with mass amounts of muscle isnt going to run as hard or as long as a smaller man, with littler muscle. Just not possible. Same with swimming. A deadlifter isnt going to be breaking any 100 meter records
Itâs not, but hard to think of anything that encompasses more attributes of fitness in one sport.
Matt probably couldnât beat Michael Phelps in a 100m swim but, dominate in other areas (Olympic weightlifting maybe) same goes for other athletes top of other sports, quite a jack of (lot of) traits.
Heâs the best at CrossFit. I wouldnât say heâs the fittest person in the world.
fittes meaning overall in all movements there are not specializing...
@@iapplethis So average at lots of things?
@@iapplethis Fitness has so many vocations. Throw him on a ring exercise or tell him to do a full ring routine with perfect form and he wont be able to. Put him up against actual olympic weight lifters and he could probably keep up for a little while. But then he'd fall short at the highest level. Put him up against the worlds best cyclists and he wouldn't stand a CHANCE. Put him in a boxing match or a grappling match with a really high level grappler or boxer and his cardio would seem like it doesn't exist at all. There are so many levels to fitness. Mat Fraser is great, but he's great at crossfit. He's not the overall fittest person in the world. That's a ludicrous statement.
Matt Fraser VS Ross edgely please đŻđŻ
Rich had to quit before Mat was able to win?
âHe's the Fittest at the CrossFit GAMES.
Yea,....
I would argue that the world champion in olympic Decathlon is the fittest man on the planet, or maybe the the Iron man champion of Hawai?
But most definetly not Mr. Fraser.... :D
@@filou89 in terms of fittest i think youd struggle to find someone fitter than fraser. decathlon doesnt have a strength element akin to x-fit. a lot of the decathlon disciplines are very skill based such as discus and pole vault. Decathletes might be better athletes in a broader spectrum of disciplines but I doubt theyre 'fitter' than an elite crossfit athlete.
@@marliechiller Dude just look at those guys competing and ask yourself "are these top athletes?". What do you mean by "fitter" if not athletic? Crossfit is just an arbitrary set of movements and doesn't signify anything, quite frankly it's a joke and embarrassing in my opinion, but I'll refrain from being too disrespectful towards. Look at Matt Fraser and ask yourself if he's be successful in ANY other sport. Then tell me what does Crossfit "fitness" signify exactly. lol. These guys look like they hit up a Crossfit gym between their WoW matches.
@@grapograc not sure if youre comment is sarcasm or not. I'll assume its not for aguments sake (although that WoW comment is ridiculous. Do you see anyone at blizzcon that looks like matt fraser?) Fraser was a junior national weightlighting champion and nearly made the US olympic team so i guess that counters your "any other sport" point. I'm not a crossfitter, in fact im probably closer to track and field than xfit, but it doesnt insult or hurt me to admit that elite crossfitters are probably the most well rounded athletes on the planet. crossfit fitness seems to signify functional strength and endurance. i.e the ability to be able to pick up any physically demanding task, be it strength or cardio based, and to excel well beyond typical human norms. A decathlete aint squatting 485lbs is he now? Dont take youtube comments so personally mate

Shorter athletes excel in CrossFit as most movements require you to be closer to the ground.
However, size and weight classes don't exist, it's just fitness that matters.
@@tylerjaehamilton thanks, us stretched out guys think we got it all, until the pistol squat comes! He's defo a beast.

Is he on any performance-enhancements?
who is the best fraser or froning ???? in my opinion crossfit was quite new when froning was winning as the years went on more and better athletes were coming through likes of fraser ..âŠ..froning a clever guy new this.. and saw fraser the guy who was up and coming and the guy who would eventually beat him froning retired from competing clever rich ...he retired knowing this and now competes in the team event...âŠ.come back rich and compete against fraser I no and rich froning knows he wont win him.. that's why froning will never compete in the single man event ever again âŠ.fraser is the best no one will beat him he is a beast..
Apparently you havenât heard the reason why Rich Froning went teams instead of continuing as an individual competitor. The man made his decision well before he began competing against against Fraser in the 2014 CrossFit Games.
Also, if you take into account the fact that Froning was winning from 2011 - 2014: he wouldâve beat Mat Fraser again and possibly Ben Smith (2015 CFG winner) for his 5th straight title.
That doesnât discredit Fraserâs dominance; itâs just a fact.
Tia Clare Toomy!!
Yes indeed, fittest cross fitter on earth đ
Would the CrossFit games have become boring if rich froning never existed and mat won almost every event since 2014???
Yes, I believe it would be
I mean he's the best at cross fit no argument, but idk about the title fittest on earth đŹ
Who would you see up against and how would you test them?
Well fitness is more of how your heart copes during endurance and although weightlifting does get your HR up it shouldn't really count, so technically kipchoge is the fittest and Eddie hall/ halfthor would be the strongest so crossfit people would be in the middle making them above average in a variety of categories but not exactly the best at a specific category like the fittest đ€·ââïž well that's my opinion at least
Wasnt a dig at yer comment mate, was just intrested in your thaughts on how to test who the fittest on earth would be I dont think there is a way really, I do think crossfit is a pretty good test though, well apart from the "butterfly" pull ups that is a mean to me thats just swinging on a bar.
Props to Fraser but the fittest athletes are in the olympics. Weâll see how cross fittersâ joints hold up in their 40s. To be truly fit is to be able to stay fit in old age as well and not be all snapped up from injuries.
No, Olympians are the best at ONE thing usually. âFitâ is short for âfit for purposeâ ie the purpose of a human so covers ALL aspects of fitness. Imagine seeing Mo Farah trying to deadlift or Usain Bolt swimming then running miles....
Olympians work hard and achieve greatness on ONE area of the huge spectrum of fitness only.
Do they test for steroids in CrossFit? I donât know anything about this which is why I ask
They do on the Day of the competition i belive, idk if they test year round but the top athletes are all on PEDs
@@kamelfosare1527 thanks for that
They test all year round, athletes are regularly caught and banned from competition.
@@kamelfosare1527 if you have proof then I'm sure the testing body would love to hear it, also they are tested year round.
You can search on google "Ricky Garard" he was a guy who got third place in the crossfit games I think in 2017 and he tested positive in some drug, so crossfit penalized him taking him the money he got and he is not going to be able to participate at crossfit games until 2023.
Surely the fittest man in the world can do one proper pull up.
should take part in" iron man contest" he would come last
Yes and if the ironman man contestants competed against him in a powerlifting comp he would win, what is your point? CrossFit is about generalism not specialism
Such a retarded comment, you don't understand the concept behind "the fittest man on earth".
@@chriswatts9227 well then he's not the fittest man then if he can't beat everybody, including iron man contestants.
@@hubster4477 I'm not sure I said he was the fittest. That is the "title" given by the organisers of the CrossFit games. It is a slightly silly title as the idea that you can determine exactly what fitness is is silly. Fit for what? But the idea of CrossFit is that your fit for anything. I think CrossFit athletes could compete in ironman triathlon events and I'm sure would do reasonably well but obviously not as well as a professional who only trains for that one thing
@@hubster4477 by the same logic, if an Iron Man athlete canât outlift a single college football player, they canât be the fittest either.
How would you define âfitnessâ if not ability over a lot of different styles of physical performance?
good video, but not most exciting games. 19 was great, there should have been 10 men and 10 women for the ranch. Matt and Tia would still have won but not by as much
I agree Marc, the athletes that did qualify, though deserving, were just not as experienced or as specialised as they needed to be to take down the champs
Or potentially they might have won by more, as Matt and Tia might have won the same or a similar number of events and the other points would have been divided even more ways?
CrossFitters are super fit but Like grappling nobody outside the sport really cares. His winning money is barely above the minimum wage in the NFL or NBA.

If fraiser was 6ft. He wouldn't have won this many times...facts
How many triathlons has he won?
An interview with Greg Glassman years ago talked about why he created CrossFit. There was a man who had won multiple Iron Man triathlons and had been called the fittest man on earth by Sports Illustrated (back in the 80âs). But the guy couldnât bench press 135#. So he posited what would quantify the fittest. Itâs a blend of the 10 components of fitness. There are faster and stronger athletes. There are athletes who are more grueling and more accurate. But whereâs the median? Thatâs what CrossFit is. Itâs the guy whoâs best all around on those aspects.
@@JasonJones-og2ft just as other sports are endurance based, cross fit is more slanted to muscular/ strength activities, anything over a 5k run?
This year, they had a 10k trail run. They also, at the end of everything they had been through, had an event with a 1mile,run, 100 handstand push-ups , 200 single legged squats, 300 pull-ups, and another 1 miles run... all with a 20/14lb vest for the men/women. Last year, they had a ruck run where they had to had weight each lap up to 50lbs on their 5k run. The next day they had a 1k swim couple with a 1k prone paddle. And all of this is factored with having multiple events throughout the weekend that have fatigued every major muscle group along the way. Iâm not saying that any CrossFit athlete is better than another sports athlete, but it does measure a great deal more ability than three single modalities for distance.
Theyâve also done a marathon row before. Not a run, bike or swim but also a tough endurance movement. That surely warrants some appreciation. And it wasnât just a marathon row then recover for a week... it was amidst a competition where they had to back up again the next day!

đ€Ł saying nothing.
Big statement your saying there....
He's definitely in the top two. My only issue is he's never beat Fronning in the full CrossFit games .. in certain events yes but not full...
We can all say he would of beat Fronning if fronning didn't retire from the main event buy we can't say that with a 100% certainly! Maybe he would or maybe he wouldn't. I believe if fronning hadn't retired Frazer would of made fronning find a extra gear or two.... Fronning was the master pacer who always done enough. Frazier would of brought out the best and fronning with Frazier..we Just don't know! Its always just someone's opinion what they think as this is just my opinion. Being a sport's scientist for a few clubs you find when to champions or two top teams fighting it out in there particular sport each of them pushing the other an extra 3% getting the best possible performance out of the two. I can see since fronning retired that Frazier wasn't pushed as hard even to date, we haven't seen his best or what he could do because of Fronning's retirement. Its a Shame that there not the same age because that would be good to see. I believe if fronning hadn't retired he would had won another 2 or maybe 3... Definitely another 1. But he's a family man and puts that above everything else. I will say this that Matt is a legend but so is Fronning and we will never know who was the best.
Mat (Fraser not Frazier) was on his rookie year, still working full time, not devolving all of his life to training, and still pushed Froning at his peak. If this is not enough of an argument to you I donât know what will be. Plus, every expert and athlete in the sport (including Castro btw) now agrees heâs the fittest in history.
Go back and watch 16.5. Mat surpassed Rich in 2016. Maybe Rich could've taken the crown in 2015, but that would've been it. 2016 Fraser is a different person from 2014/2015.
I am a Froning fan but I don't think Rich was as dominant in the event as Mat. In my view both are inspiring athletes and good blokes which makes me less likely to want to chose between them
Froning could have tried to beat him in 16' but smartly got out while he was on top. He saw the writing on the wall. Good for him.
As I said it all just opinions and we will never know....yes definitely think fronning would of won one more at least
