Yeah to test fitness you’d need to test Cardiovascular / respiratory endurance - The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.
Strength - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
Flexibility - The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.
Power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
Agility - The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
Balance - The ability to control the placement of the body’s center of gravity in relation to its support base.
Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

Strength and stamina are two very oppositional physical attributes. A large man, with mass amounts of muscle isnt going to run as hard or as long as a smaller man, with littler muscle. Just not possible. Same with swimming. A deadlifter isnt going to be breaking any 100 meter records

An interview with Greg Glassman years ago talked about why he created CrossFit. There was a man who had won multiple Iron Man triathlons and had been called the fittest man on earth by Sports Illustrated (back in the 80’s). But the guy couldn’t bench press 135#. So he posited what would quantify the fittest. It’s a blend of the 10 components of fitness. There are faster and stronger athletes. There are athletes who are more grueling and more accurate. But where’s the median? That’s what CrossFit is. It’s the guy who’s best all around on those aspects.

This year, they had a 10k trail run. They also, at the end of everything they had been through, had an event with a 1mile,run, 100 handstand push-ups , 200 single legged squats, 300 pull-ups, and another 1 miles run... all with a 20/14lb vest for the men/women. Last year, they had a ruck run where they had to had weight each lap up to 50lbs on their 5k run. The next day they had a 1k swim couple with a 1k prone paddle. And all of this is factored with having multiple events throughout the weekend that have fatigued every major muscle group along the way. I’m not saying that any CrossFit athlete is better than another sports athlete, but it does measure a great deal more ability than three single modalities for distance.

We can all say he would of beat Fronning if fronning didn't retire from the main event buy we can't say that with a 100% certainly! Maybe he would or maybe he wouldn't. I believe if fronning hadn't retired Frazer would of made fronning find a extra gear or two.... Fronning was the master pacer who always done enough. Frazier would of brought out the best and fronning with Frazier..we Just don't know! Its always just someone's opinion what they think as this is just my opinion. Being a sport's scientist for a few clubs you find when to champions or two top teams fighting it out in there particular sport each of them pushing the other an extra 3% getting the best possible performance out of the two. I can see since fronning retired that Frazier wasn't pushed as hard even to date, we haven't seen his best or what he could do because of Fronning's retirement. Its a Shame that there not the same age because that would be good to see. I believe if fronning hadn't retired he would had won another 2 or maybe 3... Definitely another 1. But he's a family man and puts that above everything else. I will say this that Matt is a legend but so is Fronning and we will never know who was the best.
