Such a compliment coming from you. God bless you.
For now, only a nice Romanian lady at your side, and you are all set.
Settle down in Romania 🇷🇴 😀👍
Polovragi the most interesting place in that part of Romania Country Gorj

As a romanian native who has also lived through the rough years of post-communism, hearing someone like you, a very experienced traveller that can really appreciate all sides of a country, not only hearing you say it, but puttin it as a title, makes my heart grow so big and gives me hope my home country will have a nice future despite the corruption and political situation.
Hello to our Romanian brothers from Serbia, Romania is beautiful ❤
❤MULȚUMESC! Nici dacă erai român nu ai fi putut prezenta mai frumos țara mea! MULȚUMESC!❤
It is a "special" country for sure. Forests, mountains, villages and the incredible wildlife....BEARS everywhere. Romania shows us glimpses of how Europe used to be. Great country indeed. Unique.
Romania is very nice , not expensive, low crime, beautiful in summertime
The crime has been exported.
@@witlof5492 most of the criminals from Romania are not even ethnic Romanians, they are an ethnic minority.
@@witlof5492 I am grateful for that. EU is so good for us. 😁👍
@@dhanyrafael😊😊👍
Almost all the criminals are in west Europe 😂
Romania is a hidden gem Gabe!! Greetings from a Secret Island in Greece 😉
I'm so happy you're keeping it secret. ❤🇬🇷
That monestery! Out of nowhere to such a beautiful place inside.
"Out of nowhere" just because he took the back door, behind the scene, etc... That monastery has a main entrance at the main road.
My goodness Romania is gorgeous!
I love the sound of the rooster crowing & the church bell ringing. It's so nostalgic and peaceful.
Wow. Romania looks like one of the most beautiful countries you have ever visited. I especially love (as always) the clips where you're driving through towns or the country side, always with your awesome background music. Those clips give me such a good feel for the place. And I am so often surprised at just how "touristy" so many destinations are, but Romania seems to be an exception to that. Which makes me want to go there even more. As usual, thank you Gabe so much for your hard work, so many of us get to see our beautiful world through your eyes. You are simply the best. Stay safe.
What a gorgeous country!
You can feel sometimes in Romania like in movie Lost in translation but this is also one of the Romania's charm. I really love my country! I am happy that also you like it.
What a hidden gem is Romania thanks Gabe for this video.
My goodness my list for places to visit in Romania just keeps growing! That canyon is a fantastic find. The wooden cross brought tears to my eyes, beautiful! So excited to see what you find next!
It's great..
Can I be your friend?
Gabe is living the Romanian dream! 🇷🇴
22:15 The monastery seems to be self-sufficient, at least regarding foodstuffs.
The key for the cave is at the monastery, usually somebody from the monastery will go with you for a visit, the cave has sacred places and to keep it safe from scribblings is locked. Usually the access for the cave is done trough the Bistrita monastery.
I'll have to go back.
I miss Romania so much. Appreciate your videos!
Roemaina is so beautiful and Love Old Church
A cave? An uncertain path through the undergrowth? You’re in your element there, Gabe. Great video.
U calling him a caveman?
@@Chasworth There's nothing that Gabe likes more than a cave: Vardzia, Matera, Cappadocia, etc.
Hi G, the caves were most likely where monks lived and perhaps Saints as well.
I love Romania. It is incredibly beautiful
Ducks and geese will muddy the water of the chicks and they will get sick...thats why they are separated this way.
And one more comment, I LOVE how you are always so very respectful to the locals, being very careful to respect their privacy and property, AND I love how you always talk to the animals, if you see a cat, it's "meow", a cow it's "mooo", so darn cute!
Okay I must take a trip to Romania when ever I have the funds to do so and not hesitate this is so beautiful I must see this country always was told Romania is beautiful and nothing like you hear about in the USA I hear people say it’s dangerous but from my research very low crime rate and tons of beautiful sites
Romania is safer than England, Holland, Belgium, Italy or France, so you shouldn't be too concerned about that. However, do use common sense and you should be fine.
I cant understand how can you live in USA and say Romania is a dangerous country😂.
LOL, Romania is 50 times safer than the US, the crime rates are like 6 times lower in Romania than in the US and Americans have the audacity to say that Romania is dangerous... Mind blowing....
@@my92hay😂😂😂😂😂
Nice to hear that you liked Romania
Beautiful country with a mysterious history 🙏😊
Beautiful nature, very nice country, new for me, footage realistic and compliments for the hiking on sandals. 👍
Maybe those random dogs where you parked could have shown you the way! How odd they were just hanging out. Thank you for showing us this amazing country. I really appreciate seeing the non-touristic areas.
Lots of stray dogs in Romania.
@@witlof5492 I don't see that many, lately.
Those historic engravings on the high rock face, are just absolutely amazing!!
I can see why it is your favourite country, so old and mysterious. Shame you couldn’t go into the caves but the scenery alone was worth it. Thank you 😊
I've been watching your videos from România i miss my native country. It's so beautiful and people are very nice and welcome you with open arms and the food is so good... Have fun and keep on traveling 🙏
Hi Gabriel, what a day of discovering the cave and monastery which are part of the Romanian Orthodox Church which is much like the Greek Orthodox Church or even the Russian Orthodox Church wearing black robes. The Carpathians mountains are strongholds for large carnivores in Europe harboring around 3,500 grey wolves, 2,400 Eurasian lynx, and more than 8,000 brown bears. No signs anywhere of possible danger you can tell, not a tourist spot, these areas seem more like something for the locals.
Nice use of Google there buddy
After watching all the Romania videos you have made well I also want to Romania one day therefore it is on my list
Natural wonders of the earth are so breathtaking!
The sky in your travel day is absolutely gorgeous. Such a good weather when discovering the hidden countryside of Romania. 😍❤️
23:21 You could probably get accommodation for the night right there in the monastery 🙂
Here are chapters for this vlog of Gabriel going into the isolated places of Romania.

Romania is very nice
Great to hear we love Romania orthodox good people! 🇬🇷🤝🇷🇴
Wow amazing carvings in the rocks.
The video at 15:00 refers to the initials IC XC NI KA on the cross used in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. It is a transliteration of the Greek phrase "Ιησούς Χριστός νικά", which means "Jesus Christ conquers" or "Jesus Christ is victorious". The first two letters, "IC", represent the Greek word for Jesus, while "XC" represents the Greek letters for Christ. "NI" represents the Greek word for conquers or is victorious, and "KA" is a suffix that is often added for emphasis.
That cross is like saying to us "praise the Lord for His marvelous creation", amazing nature! Gabe the krikri, which is a kind of wild goat in Crete, Greece, and it climbs on the steepest ridges!😊✌✨
Greetings from another enchanted Romanophile like yourself! I have spent a lot of time in Romania, living there for years back in the nineties. My main, or initial connection with Romania was through the PAN FLUTE, which is not from South America, but is a traditional indigenous folk instrument of Romania, with Gheorghe Zamfir, the King of the Pan Flute, being Romanian, from the small town of Gaiesti, in fact. The Romanian name for the Pan Flute is NAI, and hence my CZcams name, Nai Man. I like to see you exploring all the hidden wonders of Romania, wide eyed and awestruck, like I have been, using your knowledge of Latin and learning Romanian along the way. If you want to explore further, I can introduce you to a Romanian friend of mine who has been most helpful and friendly to me - but that's the spirit of the Romanian people, who are, above all, open, friendly and warm hearted Latins. Bine ati venit la Romania!
Thanks to Gabriel, I ❤🇷🇴!
Thank you for tripping, it is always Awesome. happy trails pilgram!
those dogs were so cute.. dont forget to feed them..
What an awesome series of finds today.. Mind blowing.. Thank you for pursuing the trail
Hi Gabe, great adventure, thank you for shearing. We are waiting next video. Chaos
Just WOW ! And you make it look so easy. 🙏
👋Hi there Gabriel,
As a traveller myself, I so appreciate you & all you do, specifically in showcasing underrated, often unnoticed & unappreciated countries, to the greater world.
Here's the thing, the media so often portrays certain countries, as being totally "bad, dangerous, unsafe & off limits" but in truth, such statements are almost always untrue. And when we visit such countries ourselves, we then see a very different reality/truth.
Romania's a good point in case. Not too much is known about this hidden gem & it's not talked about enough & if it is, some negative & naive comments may be expressed.
I've visited Romania 2 times now & I am due to revisit in the very near future. I love Romania & always have & each time I visit, Romania continually surprises me & in a very good way!
There's always something new & very historic to be utterly surprised by, around every twist & turn.
IMPO, I think that this makes for an even better & more exciting travel adventure!
I felt very welcomed there & in a strange way, I felt more like extended family, than I did just the mere traveller or visitor. Such is the warm & hospitable welcome, received from many Romanians.
I found that the farther out I ventured, the more traditional the way of life & the warmer the welcome/reception.
I love the fact that this country in many ways, has withstood too much modernisation & has amazingly held onto it's raw & beautiful old fashioned customs & culture. It has managed to maintain, a simple way of living & we don't see this very much anywhere anymore, so it's really refreshing to witness.
And I do hope/pray that this never changes, as this is truly the best part about Romania.
I will say however, that Bucharest being the capital city & largest city within Romania, is more so modernised & offers everything to it's visitors, but still retains much old fashioned charm, in both it's wonderful architecture & it's long standing & rich culture.
The people are so friendly & wonderful, their culture amazing, the architecture so lovely & unique, the scenery so stunningly mountainous, so verdant & beautiful, the food really delicious & hearty & I could go on & on.
I have now watched this episode approx 4 times over, as I enjoy it that much & I'm sure I'll be watching again & again in the very near future.
Thanks for sharing your awesome journeys with we viewers & I wish you many more years of wonderful travel.
Peace✌
I love Romania because I was born here and I live in the simplest and most beautiful way with my loved ones🇷🇴❣️
There is a say that Romania is the “Virgin Mary garden’s”, due of the wild diversity of the landscapes, natural beauty, folklore, art, culture...
I am really glad you came back and decided to visit more. You need to check out the Romanian region of Moldova next time. City of Iasi and Piatra Neamt are some of the must see places. Piatra Neamt had a roman ancient site (Petro Dava) and a middle ages fortification (Cetatea Neamt). In Iasi you find a blend of communist and late 19th century architecture. There is also one of the biggest museums - Palatul Culturii (Palace of culture). In Iasi there is a large international airport with good connections to most of Europe and Turkey.
Thanks for hiking up all those hills so I don't have to. 😀 Very interesting stuff!
Great video Gabe. Fascinating and beautiful area. Loved the monastery.
Great video . " Flying Blind", lol, looking for a bat cave? Was that pun planned ? LOL
So many breathtaking vistas!
Ah man, I'm so curious about what's down behind the red gate (although, it looks creepy as! ha). A mate of mine from the UK lived in Romania for a few years and he had nothing but good things to say about it. For sure this video has me further convinced to add it to my never ending list! Hope you're doing well mate!
What an interesting country Romania is 🙏
Hello our best neighbours from Bulgaria❤
Hey Gabriel! I'm really sorry it didn't work out with the Bat Cave. The nuns at the monastery would've give you the key or would've join you for the visit for free. They are educated and most likely speak English. Maybe next time. There is a lot to explore in that area though. I really hope you had a good time and I'm looking forward for your next adventure.
Amazing place! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us ! ✨👍
Gabriel your curiosity brings us on the wildest adventures! I love you can travel, but times have no clue where you will be staying! (This would stress me!). Another great 2 part video! ~Cara 😊
Romania is similar to Serbia concerning monasteries.
Awesome day you had!!! Thanks for the share on this one! Time echos strong there!
You're living the life! Keep up the great work, be safe and have fun!
Thanks the visit Romania!!
Awesome exploring!! This is classic Gabe ‘off the beaten track’ stuff! 👍
Wow my friend, you"re so brave!!!
Your trail excursion trials reminded me when we were kids hittibg the bike trails nearly everyday. Thanks Gabriel
This is the first ever video I have seen but I already love this channel!
If you've got the time, you should visit Horezu and the Maldaresti area!!
Good evening from down under Gabe , have a lovely day adventuring
Now THAT was a cool intro Gabe! I’m loving this series on Romania! Thank you for these awesome videos;, and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I absolutely LOVE your channel!! ❤️
It's a beautiful place indeed..
Can I be your friend?
I always like your videos. You are a true adventurous person. You always amaze me.
Thank you for your insights and that great music!
18:07 If you dropped the phone there, you would probably need assistance from monks in the monastery to unlock the padlock.
Yeah that's probably the answer if you want to go inside, ask the monks.
Making me want to move there. Probably would be shunned for my lack of religion. Lol
I love this kind of exploration. We had the freedom to explore places in this way when we were children. Lots of fun adventures this reminds me of.
Bearded bears had beers. “Don’t practice your alliteration on me!” 😂 See if you get the reference. 😊
I also recall often waiting for someone’s flock to cross the road ….so many nice memories…really enjoyed this, Gabriel. Thank you.
I am a Romanian and I am not religious either 😂
Just amazing... Thank you so much.. Gabriel... You are the best.. You are the number one👍👍👍👍Take care of yourself 🍀🍀🍀
26:35 Hiking to the "Brown Bears' Cave" 😃👍
25:15 Hiking in the "Bistriţa de Olt Gorge"
Another unmissable video. I love the way you explore little hidden roads and byways, and discover the unexpected wherever you go, taking us with you. Even the disapointment of finding the cave door locked opens up the door of the bigger monastery nearby.
The beating sound before the bells was the Toaca, a wooden plank which the monastic strikes to make a rhythmnic sound to let the other monastics know the service is about to start. Here is one of many examples on YT It is something of an artform in Romania .czcams.com/video/Isx4jc9kyEI/video.html.
Ai ai ai ai aia i....Oh No!!!! hahaha Gabriel exploring adventures are awesome.
Thanks for sharing your adventure experience on this road trip. It seems to me that Romania is quite a safe place for a solo traveler.
It is, except aggressive sheep dogs in the mountains, bears in the high hills and mountains and taxi drivers (use Uber, Bolt), :) Otherwise, yes, is safer than France, Germany, UK which were invaded by hordes of savages. :(( R.I.P.
Outstanding 🤩❤
Wow, very interesting and exciting. I am glad you made it safely since there could have been a bear or 3 around. Stay safe thanks for the ride and the. itchy hike. Was just thinking of poison ivy.😮 ❤
Interesting beautiful place
Have you seen the fires on Maui? Have you ever done a tour of Scotland, Wales ? Have you been to Sri Lanka? Enjoying your adventures, lovely filming.
Yes, yes, yes and no. The fires are such a tragedy.
So beautiful place ever green area so nice so beautiful
Your Romania trip is a cool one. 👍
27:38 My grandparents were from that area and I spent all my vacations there. Pestera Ursilor is a place where we used to party. We even built fires and slept. Nice times!
PS: We always packed out garbage. We never littered.
will we get to the bat cave? I can feel that beautiful day. thanks
Multumim! ✌️
Cool, thanks for splitting the vid, good footage you're getting

THANKSsssssssssssssss
Great adventure and beautiful views … but the bells the bells they made me deaf you know 😂

Thanks Gabriel I expecting you to get lost and have to spend the night in an abandoned monastery 😊. Although that bear cave would be nice to start a campfire and roll out a sleeping bag.
27:30 The "Brown Bears' Cave" is huge indeed
Gabe, CZcams keeps removing my attempt to comment. There is is a popular hiking app that will help you stay on the right trail via GPS, even real-time trip reports from users. Beautiful trip so far.
