    Stunning renovation!!! I’d like to see that lower orange panel painted the same color blue as the plane’s striping! This was exciting to watch!

    I do not own a plane. I’ve actually never even been on a plane. Okay, I’m terrified of planes and I have no idea how I got to this video, but I did and I couldn’t stop watching. Great work! Really looks amazing.

    Did you upgrade your instrument panel? What did you do about the orange on the circuit breaker panel? Do you have pics?

    Hi Jim, congratulations on your great interior job, very motivating to update my 73M...also any idea when the interior door lock handles were changed like in your 75M mine are farther back and just a handle, not built into arm rests...thanks

    • @jimcroome4703
      @jimcroome4703  Před 4 lety

      No, I have no idea about any changes to the door lock. I can tell you that is the only place I have had problems after the upgrade. There is a cording just above the handle that is getting rubbed as the handle goes up and down. This is starting to show wear and I am not sure what I can do about it. I have thought about putting a small strip of clear tape across that section? You can sort of pull the handle towards you that minimizes the rub, but you have to remember to do that. So you may be better off.

    Looks great! I'm thinking of doing something similar. Did Airtex recover your seats, and if so, what do you think of their work? Did the side panels fit properly? Thanks in advance.

    • @jimcroome4703
      @jimcroome4703  Před 5 lety +1

      Dave I ordered the interior kit made by Airtex for my plane. They fit great. Only problem was this was my first attempt and I had a learning curve. Airtex was helpful when I called them with a question. I don’t doubt they would do a great job if you had them do the work.

    Jim What Glue did you use? What paint did you use for the seats, door trim, jams and plastics. Did you use airtex insulation? TIA

    • @jimcroome4703
      @jimcroome4703  Před 6 lety

      I used the glue AIrtex suggested but it took several cans more than they suggested. I did use Airtex insulation. I used metal spray paint for the metal parts from a building suppy/hardware store. The spray paint for the interior however, came from Plane Plastics.

    Thanks for the video. I have been thinking of using these same products on my Cessna. Any tips or things you would do differently looking back on it now?

    • @jimcroome4703
      @jimcroome4703  Před 6 lety

      Biggest problem is lack of good instructions on some parts, like gluing up the pilot side panels. The copilot side, where we started, we didn't know where to start the carpet with the edge of the panel. There is a small piece of cloth attached to it. I will say I called several times and got advise from Airtex. My wife and I tried every way we could to get the foam and cover on the back of the back seat frame. I decided it was impossible, then my much younger son came along and pushed it down and we were able to attach the velcro. So when you think there is no way......

  • @timmytes

    • @jimcroome4703

      Leather with the exception of the panel are vinyl.

    What color did you go with to spray your headliner?

    • @jimcroome4703
      @jimcroome4703  Před 3 lety +1

      I believe I used White 15313 SEM spray paint from Plane Plastics. I purchased a clear primer that bonds the paint to the plastic from a local auto parts chain store.

    • @jimcroome4703

      Some of it must be done under supervision under an FAA license mechanic to be legal. I did just that.
