  • In this video I'm going to show you the entire step-by-step process I used to paint the Blue Angels Cruzer. I will demonstrate every step by painting the elevator. Keep in mind that first, I am not a professional painter, and two, there are many ways to do the same thing. And in this video I am just showing you how I chose to go about the process of painting. I am using DuPont Nason single stage paint. The color is "Blue Angels Blue".

Your fiberglass wire cover looks great. That was an excellent idea and executed perfectly ♠️

From a painters stand point. That used to paint gulfstreams. Did a pretty decent job. What I would suggest is use a acid etch primer. From Sherwin Williams, ppg or exalta. Before the epoxy. Runs about $50 a gallon right now. Aluminum is such a hit or miss with paint sticking. Some you couldn’t beat off with a hammer just sanding. And others will flake off in big sheets. As for dust good luck. It comes from everything around or above the part and gun. Remember when you release compressed air in a direction. It creates a vacuum. Behind it.

I figured he would do the etching with diluted acid then a coating of alodine before priming I've had great results adding those steps.

@@MajikPPMan I’ve done the alodine on leading edge parts. It works really well. Other than those just acid etch primer. And move along. That’s what they make it for.

Use lower pressure to reduse “paint dust” or dryness

Is that a self-etching primer as I did not see an etch step. It looked like the scotch-brite pad was using Dawn only.
