    Very nicely done interior restoration ! My 1978 Grumman AA-5B Tiger goes in for new paint, interior, and plexiglass this coming January, 2018. Pretty excited about ditching the 70's paint scheme and interior 😁👍

    Nice to see that you can use Craftsman tools on this plane.

      Yeah, you can do pretty much anything with a couple of screwdrivers along with 1/4",3/8", 1/2" and 9/16" wrenches/socket. Nothing metric on these old Made in USA birds.

    Great job! How many man hours do you think you devoted to the resto? Really classy look!

      Thanks Harleyguy. I never really did the math but figure between all the long weekend days and a few week nights over about 5 months I had well over 100 hours into it.

    That was an auto-standing job. Do you might to tell me the cost? I just purchased a pa-28-140 and I am looking to do the same upgrade.

      Hey David, just noticed your comment. Budget at least $5,000. I spent more than that but not all of it was on materials.

    Thank you for the share of the great video.Love the attention to detail thru out the restoration.Just out of curiosity with all the updates , changes made how much weight was removed and cg was changed ? My father and i are currently looking at a pa-28-140.Heading to your blog now to read more.

    • @sunmanav8
      @sunmanav8  Před 6 lety

      My A&P made the log book entry with no net change to empty weight or CG. After complying with the 2020 ADS-B out requirement I plan to have the plane weighed to ensure the numerous equipment changes over the years are properly reflected in the current W&B numbers. If you get a Cherokee send me some pictures.

    I’ve got a 1961 PA28, how hard was it to remove the interior. What type of sound barrier did you use on the walls and did you follow it back up with insulation? Do you have any reference you could point me towards on some of the stuff you preformed.

    Hello, great video. I'm in the middle of the same process with my 1967 140. I was just curious where you purchased the the seat belts with the piper emblem ? Thanks!

    • @sunmanav8
      @sunmanav8  Před 6 lety

      The emblems were purchased separate from the belts but they were both purchased from Spruce. www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/piperdecals.php

    What was the cost of the remodel..?

    • @sunmanav8
      @sunmanav8  Před 6 lety +1

      Well, depends what you include. I've been using $7000 as my thumbnail number for all the materials, using my own labor.
      I have a detailed breakdown if you want to get down to nuts and bolts.

  • @jmuld1

    Did you make a log book entry? Did you use certified material? Does it matter?

    • @sunmanav8
      @sunmanav8  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, yes and yes. The actual logbook entry with all the details can be seen here n98297.blogspot.com/2017/04/aircraft-log-interior.html

      @sunmanav8  Před 5 lety +2

      I started the day after Thanksgiving 2016 and finished the last day of April 2017. Have been doing other updates since then but nothing that's kept me grounded for an extended period. See all the dates and details at my blog: N98297.blogspot.com
