- Born in Glasgow in 1948, as a teenager she toured the northern clubs with her band the Luvvers. After her initial success with a cover of "Shout" reaching #7 in 1964, Lulu went on to establish herself as one of the biggest-selling British female singers of the 1960s. She made her film début in To Sir, with Love (1967) starring Sidney Poitier and performed the title song, which went to No. 1 in the US, but was only released as a B-side in the UK with the A-side, "Let's Pretend," making #11. She was one of four joint winners of the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest with "Boom Bang-a-Bang." In 1969, she married The Bee Gees' Maurice Gibb, and moved more into family entertainment, building on the success of her self-titled BBC television show. After her divorce, she collaborated with David Bowie on the song "The Man Who Sold the World," which reached #3 in the UK charts, and sang the title theme to the James Bond feature The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), both in 1974.
After marriage to celebrity hairdresser John Frieda, with whom she had one son, Jordan, Lulu's career moved more into occasional adverts and pantomimes. The 1990s saw her divorce again, and in 1993, she released the hit album "Independence." Along with her brother, she also penned the song, "I Don't Wanna Fight," which was performed by Tina Turner on the soundtrack to What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), and aged 44, she finally topped the UK charts with British boyband Take That with a cover of "Relight My Fire." She went on to contribute to the soundtrack of the Tim Rice/Elton John musical "Aida" in 1999, front her own short-lived prime-time UK lottery show on BBC TV, "Red Alert with the National Lottery" (1999), and starred in the film Whatever Happened to Harold Smith? (1999).
In 2002, she released an album of duets entitled "Together," featuring the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Sting, and Ronan Keating, along with a best-selling autobiography. In 2003, she released her "Greatest Hits" album, which débuted at #35 in the UK charts. ~IMDb Mini Biography By: Glc19Gareth@netscape.net

When Eurovision and pop music in general was still pure quality. Nice !
Lulu may not have liked the song but man, does she put it over with infectious flair!
Great to see my old friend, Johhny Harris, taking the baton when he conducted the orchestral backing for Lulu,s Euro; Song effort, which he also arranged and orchestrated for her. So sad that he passed away barely a month ago, at his home in Palm Springs, leaving his lovely wife, Laura, and their children. From living in Paddington, he toured the world, backing all the greatest singing stars of the 50s/60s/ 70, and 80s, also conducting on two Royal Command performances, with Lulu, and Tom Jones. A great loss to the world of music.
Was he drunk that day?
I was 10 years of age when I watched this on television with my Mum
Before my time but I associate this song with Eurovision 🎵
Lulu still looks young. UK's 2nd Eurovision winner! 🇬🇧 plus this is the pretty the sort of song you'd expect Lulu to sing. Full energy and youth.
I was in the dormitory of an English boarding school listening to her song on the radio. I can see now that she was an exceptionally expressive singer in her days.
Lulu you where beautiful then and still looking beautiful now. Loved the song to.
I am in the USA and I was a preteen in the late 1960s. I believe they showed at least the winning entry from Eurovision on TV over here in those days, because I remember watching this performance and thinking “ I hope she doesn’t overstretch her arms.” Excellent song
Her voice and stylizing are so distinctive and precious!…Just got finished watching “To Sir with Love” after not having seen it in decades…
Lulu was married to Maurice Gibb.
I've played this 6 times in the past 3 days and not sure if it was because she's got a fantastic voice hitting high notes with ease OR because she looks gorgeous.
Maybe BOTH.
Totally Underrated.
@karmasdoor i meant underrated as a singer BEFORE & AFTER eurovision.
She won because she was The Best.
@@plumberman4u Hi, ok then but seems Chee'sy now. Expectations were high then and when we didn't win it was the end of the world. Abba changed the image of Eurovision song contest and moved it in to the 20th Century. Mary Hopkin also Momentous but got pipped by Dana who was very sweet and clean cut.Kind regards Glynn n greetings from Stourbridge West Midlands UK 🤝
been marathoning Him & Her. song is stuck in my head
me too
Great programme 😊
What tf is Him & Her!
Sue and Sunny her backing vocals.
Im not even old and this makes me feel like im reminiscing the good times as a kid
I love the way she plays with her eyes.
The eyes have it.
She was incredible!!! Good stuff!👍🎼👏❤️
if you were a kid in the UK in 1969, this is probably firmly etched in your memory
I was 19...remember watching the show with mates & beer
I was 17 you never forget those times I was a great fan of Lulu, I think the way she looked helped the song. Actually I loved the song, I used to play a lot of Lulu on the piano, by ear, and particularly that song. It was an era, not like now
I was not born for 20 more years but it sure is etched into my memory as one of the best Eurovision songs ever, I would almost say "the best" but I really like so many songs from Eurovision that it's like a shared number 1 spot with 100+ other songs lmao.
Damn, even in a mind of a fan, she can never solo-win, huh?
I was 12 in 1969. Love from Canada.
Remember watch this with family when I was 8
The Eurovision Song Contest was actually worth listening to back then.
Well said!
Today it is a freakshow.
Eurovision now bad due to woke
Litreally just finished watching 2019's eurovison 😂❤🎤
Me too 😀
What a naughty song sung with such naughty aplomb. Delivered gracefully and gleefully. WINNER.
Imagine a man singing that song...Metoo ladies would have a fit LOL😂
Well What can l say my lovely Dad clearing out your house today coming across your song Boom Bang a Bang writing the lyrics for Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 . . You have been a wonderful father to us and we will miss you . So sorry you caught Covid in hospital and died 29 th December 2020 . I have lovely memories of us going to see Lulu when she came to Warwick Art Centre in 2017 . She invited us backstage, you took her some flowers she was delightful and made us very welcome. We stayed and chatted for ages . I took back a very contented person . Sending you big hugs in Heaven, so sorry l didn’t get to cuddle you at all for over a year but had to protect you but sadly you still ended up catching Covid . Will love you forever. 😩💔😪
I am sorry to read of your loss Janine. I'm sure you are feeling the loss so keenly right now.
She looks so sweet and gorgeous!
Gorgeous!
This song really reminds me of my school days.
Blessed with such beauty I was so In love with her back in the day sorry petula clark 🤣🤣🤣
I saw this on the BBC show Back in Time for Dinner. I wanted to see her full performance. I'm not disappointed. That is such a cute song! I love her hair and dress. 😀❤👗
From the time that good and fine music was made and played/sung.
A whole decade before i was born but I still appreciate this and thousands of thousands of songs from 60,70,80 and the 90s were amazing
Still love this, and strangely enough I’m still asked to play this
I was born not that far from Glasgow, Clydebank. Loved Lulu's songs, bring them back now.
I was 10 when this came out...I’m 60 now but still listen to lulu ...loved the 60s
Have they ever made a film about Lulu? Another catchy Eurovision tune. Excellent.
Brilliant Lulu.👍
Totally live in the old days unlike today. Great whimsical pop from one of the best female vocalists ever with a real "Boom Bang a Bang".Worthy if shared winner.
Must admit, this brought a smile to my face!!
So did it to me 😎🍀❤️😁
Delightful!
OMG I remember sitting watching this, only it was in black and white.
One of the four winners that year! A good schlager!
I love her hair and dress.
So do I
The rest of her looks pretty good as well.
So do I too
Makeup too 😉❤
@Display2012 and now what are they? Trees? Rocks?
Back in the 60's we had a pocket radio. This was my favourite song
Me encanta compartir buena música.
A very beautiful song . Britain 🇬🇧🍀❤️😁
Memories are made of music. I grew up when cassettes were replacing vinyl records. I borrowed a turntable from a friend to listen to my dad's old vinyl collection. The moment I started playing this song my mom came running from the kitchen, all smiling and asked, "Where did you get this song from?" I told her its from dad's old vinyl collection.
That was the time I realized that music is an integral part of our memories. RIP mom.
I saw Lulu at Southend 21/05/15,she is now 66 years old & still hits the notes & looks fantastic.I was looking through Lulu CZcams videos & found this one. What is enticing is that she has a very expressive face & eyes. The song is enhanced by her totally professional & alluring stage presence.A True star in anybodies book.
Paul Bentley Then you should see her video of " In The Morning ". WOW.... she's beautiful!
mrsteve hartman I actually still have "In the Morning" on an original BeeGees vinyl album.I had not seen this video footage so thanks for the heads up on it.
I bet Lulu never sang this song when you saw her , she hated it
Memory,when i'ts best!
Yes and you can see that even at just 20, she knew how to sing to a camera and sell a song. So many of our reality TV acts could learn from this clip alone.
I just was 8 years old back than and i am still having this song in my head,
Hi from a German
A great performance from the lovely Lulu and a well deserved win, even though it had to be shared with three others. Lulu is now 70 and i have to say she looks FaBuLoUs

FAVORITE SONG! SUCH IMAGINATION!
My winner Only in 1969. Lulú. From Spain.
Ha! My Name Is Bestie 84. I Love Massiel And Lulu. I Was Born In Perth
Proud of a fellow 'wegie', she looked extremely cute here, singing an interminably catchy song with passion. I was 10 when she did it. Good luck to her.
Weegie?
Great song
Beautiful song
This is the greatest! Lulu in her prime!
Oh Lulu - what a lovely girl you are! Saw you in Hunstanton this year! X
gone yersell wee LuLu ....what a terrific voice
Funny beginning, where they're looking for a conductor called Johnny Worries to haul up to the podium, even though there's no room to swing a cat up there. Those who remember Lulu's TV show on Saturday evenings would know that the name of Lulu's band leader was actually Johnny Harris. For those who didn't know, I am sad to say that Johnny Harris had lung cancer and died in America this year (2020). Listening to the accompaniment on this Lulu track will demonstrate just how good a musician Johnny Harris was.
Cheering for Decibel Jones and the Absolute Zeroes in Litost all the way from Earth!
Thank you judge rinder I will have this in my head now for ages lol
Yes me too! Can't really complain, there are worse songs to get stuck in your head!
This song is so optimistic and it nice to listen many times!
This Scottish/British Multi Talented Lady only got to No2 in the UK Charts with this (It got to No1 in Ireland though because they Love their Eurovision!) even though it was Joint Winner of Eurovision along with France, Spain & the Netherlands!,
She would have to wait till the 1990's for Her 1st UK No1 Singing alongside Take That!.
Lovely dear so nice beautiful euphonious.
Lulu you where beautiful then and still looking beautiful. Loved the song to.
She was 21 years old here, she was born on the 3 of November 1948, now 71.
Lulu singing in Franco's Spain in 1969. I remember watching this in black and white.
And that was a fascist dictatorship until 1978 ...weird...
