Technically, the best of the entire Megadeth catalogue.
Nope. Before Kiko joined maybe, but he's definitely not on Kiko's level. And trust me, I know Broderick's stuff (incl the two hand tapping madness.)
Kiko is in my opinion the only guitarist alive that is technically on Gunthrie Govan's level. His picking accuracy and speed, hand synchronization, fingerpicking, and fluidity in general is more advanced than 99.9999% of professionalism guitarists. Broderick wasn't very clean in this video. I recommends you listen to Kiko's Album 'Open sourced' from 2020. That's not a prime example of his technical genius, but that's one of the best instrumental albums ever imo. The technicality and complexity of his rhythms there are a work of art, and boy let me tell you, the melodies .... I've never tasted sounds before, but THIS album felt like sweet fruits of heaven from my ears to my tongue. My personal favourite is 'Du Monde' . If you don't wanna listen to the whole album, no problem, but at least listen to the song 'Du Monde'.
Listen to the one on Kiko's channel with the name "Kiko Loureiro - Du Monde - Playthrough". The one with the thumbnail with the classical guitar, it has 350K views. You'll be blown away by his melodic genius, which in my opinion, even stands above Marty's. I've been addicted to Marty and Kiko's stuff for years now, and I gotta say, Kiko is the best megadeth guitarist in EVERY category (except megadeth albums, CTE and RIP are top 2 for me)
@@ohmatokita6859 both Broderick and Loureiro are above Friedman, as I think even Chris Poland is, but I still consider Broderick superior. I know Kiko and think he’s absolutely amazing, but Chris Broderick has something more. Anyway, we’re talking about two top level guitar players.

Brad Cruse Most certainly was. Brilliant guitarist but for me he is enormously technical but at the expense of style/substance. Agree with you Marty was the man, Rust and Countdown were the pinnacle for 'deth. Every riff and solo is delicious.
Paul Edwards agreed bro, chris is easily one of the best technical players around these days, and to be honest, is much faster and more technical than marty, but he can't capture the feel and depth and soul in his solo's that marty could produce. His rust and countdown and even youth work will always go down as some of the most awesome melodic work i've ever seen in my lifetime. Marty's exotic scale ability is unmatched to this day.
Paul Edwards That's partly because he doesn't have any solo stuff and no creative ability in Megadeth whatsoever. I bet he could write some amazing songs on his own. If he went solo carrier, I think he would be similiar to Jeff Loomis today.

Im not gonna argue with all the "no emotion" comments, i will just say that this is flawless playing, and there happens so many things in this solo i could watch it over and over.

I learned just about all of Marty and Poland era Megadeth solos when I was teaching myself guitar about 4 years ago, been playing 11 years now...I love Broderick, and I think he is an amazing guitar player, I've never tried learning any of his stuff though, because to me it's something that anyone who put enough time and practice into playing guitar could do. I don't think there has been a guitarist in Megadeth (and not many in the world for that matter) that write solos that are as memorable, soulful, and creative as Marty Friedman. Though, Marty has always had that "Marty" sound where everytime he picks up a guitar you can tell its him. Chris is a composer, but Marty is a fuckin' player, man.
Just never gonna be amused with Megadeth the way I was when I first heard Rust In Peace, I guess.

They have a new album coming out in 2013 I've been told. I'm excited I think it will be better because it will all be written in the same era(not borrowing old songs) and it will give Broderick the chance to get more involved in the writing process.

by the skill and technical yes I think Chris is better, for the melody and solo writing goes to Marty and Kiko is a moderate among them
I'd say Kiko & Broderick are pretty equal in technique. Kiko's solos in Angra are on par with this easily.

totally agree with you, i feel that about most of chris' solos too... i dont like his tone at all on the albums either, but i guess he was kinda forced to use amps etc. that he wouldnt normally use, his tone on the 2008 live dvd is unbelievable!
