I was just saying the same! Seriously it suits him good.
Looks like Ron Jeremy's brother 😂
Thanks...super straight-forward instructions! d
Thank you! I couldn't figure out how to get the cover off but you explained it well! My first time to change my filter myself!
You're welcome! I'm glad that we could help you get it changed.
Thank you! Great, simple video.
That was awesomely easy. Thank you for this video
Thank you! I learned how to change my filter from this.
+hong jun Bai Glad the video helped you get the filter changed!
I have to re-watch this every time I change the filter lol. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks, Matt, this is a great simple, and precise tutorial.
Good video, very helpful my husband and I going to change the filter it's been a while.
Glad we could help!
thank you, easier then I thought
Thanks, this was so helpful.
Thank you very much for the video!!
My filter installs but it won't turn the 1/4. I can feel that it's connected but it just won't turn. Nothing's in the way. Is it still filtering the water? Mine's an older model "Gold." Thank you for the video.
Tell me what to do when , I remove the old one and the water gush's out all over the floor until i can get the new one in? I've replaced the old housing that holds the filter but after 2 years it started doing this..
You're awesome thanks
The video is great but my question is how do you re-set the water filter status light? Mine says to push switch five times in 10 seconds to reset filter indicator to green. Which switch? The on and off button to the light when you open and close the refrigerator??? That is the only thing I see to press but that doesn’t work.
I don't have that handle that turns to remove the filter, do you carry those?
Thank you, What a big help :)
Thanks for uploading.
Hope the video helped get the filter changed!
Thank you!
Gracias, con tu ayuda logre cambiar mi filtro
¡De nada! Me alegra que podamos ayudar.

But to you have to shut the water off or what? And does the water and icemaker work while you have taken the filter out and have not had a chance to install a new one that you still have to purchase? Or is there some switch or valve that shuts the water behind the filter when you take it out?
Do a video on if your filter does not come out - then what’s?
Thanks!!
When I installed it. It lowered the water pressure and it fill y cup slowly. What can I do?
You make it look so easy. However, it’s impossible to get off - and I’ve heard others say this too. It would be great if you’d explain how to get it off with tools without ruining the plastic cap.
Exactly my experience - had to use brute force. Was worried I’d break something but that’s what it came down to….
Thank you for sharing
You are very welcome!
Thanks again. I keep looking at your video before installing the filter each six months +/-.
Thank you so much!

Where is the ice maker for a GE?
You're welcome, glad we could help, +Bryan Barnash!
Jane Blackburn, if you could provide your model number, we'd be happy to look that up for you. You can look here on our website to help you find the model number: www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
The filter will not seat with the cap in the vertical position, have to install cap in horizontal position and then turn clockwise to vertical for filter to lock, don't know why. Manual shows just the opposite.
How can I know if my kenmore water filter also filters the ice?
I purchasd a used friged that is working great. When i went to replace filter water just streamed out. Help
Looks easy wish me luck
Thanks you very much.
anggy1101 Glad the video helped you get the filter changed!
You are forgetting a CRITICAL STEP. You MUST prime the new filter, unless you want your water to taste like soap.
pdog Akron Thanks for the tip, yes you must flush the filter per the instructions on the box!
+pdog Akron Good call. They did not mention flushing the filter..VERY important. I left mine out and supply the fridge from my under sink filter. Much less expensive!
Do you have to turn the water off first??
@@JAshw84 this was the question I had that brought me to the comments as well
@@JAshw84 No. The refrigerator valve automatically switches to bypass the filter when the filter is removed, then automatically reconnects when new filter is installed. After replacement "Flush 4 gallons of water through the filter before use", according to the instructions on the back of the filter packaging. That sounds a little excessive to me (43 twelve-ounce glasses). So, I just run at least 16 twelve-ounce glasses thru it and then one or two bins of ice (& discard). Then give it a "taste test" before you clear your family to use it.
Thanks, I just replaced mine for the first time. Fridge was purchased in 2008. 🤦🏼♂️
Thank you
Mine is slightly different, but this video helped TREMENDOUSLY! I didn't even know where my water filter was when I began this video.
Thank you! 😊
Now I can do it by myself 😉
Rossy Rguez Awesome, glad the video helped you out!
AppliancePartsPros Thank you again for your video... That was hard to do by myself, because I'm not strong 💪 enough 😕... But I did 😉and plus I surprised my husband when he arrived from his work 😊
Rossy Rguez That is great always nice to hear of people trying to do this with the help of the videos!
do they still require a certain amount to be pulled for something like a Kenmore 46 9081? I can't find any info that is specific! THANKS!
It's generally a good idea to purge the line after you install a new filter, but the filter should have come with an instruction sheet with any specific instructions.
ice maker wont make ice , Whirlpool ed5vhexvoo4 . replaced filter now it wont make ice ?
When my fridge/freezer was installed yesterday I was told I'll need to shut off the water supplyline before changing the filter, is this true?
what is that part call the one that holds the water filter it has like hoses connected to it can someone tell me
It is the water filter housing, they are not all the same. You can go to our website and enter your appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns to be sure you get the correct part for your model. www.appliancepartspros.com/
Here is a a video of one being changed: czcams.com/video/PvbfCpvrsY0/video.html
Thank you for the directions, but I still have a problem on my old Kitchen Aid with a Whirlpool water filter. The new filter does not lock in place. Anything I can do? Thanks
+Martine Simmons If the filter base is damaged you may have to replace it.
Duck tape
Do you have to turn water off first ?
I replaced mine last year and the water has been tasting funny ever since
How do I cycle a new water filter? The instructions say I have to flush it with like 10 gallons of water but my refrigerated would break if I left the water dispenser on that long. What do you recommend?
2 gallons an hour for 5 hours
ty :)
you da man, stan!
Glad we could help!
I have a whirlpool Gold GS5SHGXK800 in my new house. Time to change the filter but I can not turn the old filter. I know it is anti clockwise. I am afraid I will break it. Suggestions? Without the model information, I can not order a new one either. Thanks!
Sunny Zong If you take the filter cap off you can grab the filter directly with a pliers to help you remove it.
sound easy but the new filter will not turn when I try to put it in I have tried to push in real hard but It will not turn to install. yes it is the same part umber filter as I removed
salvatore tedeschi Make sure there is nothing in the housing and try wetting the o-rings before putting the filter in.
hi i have a whirlpool ref i had it for 4 year never use the ice are water but the fliter light stay on now thw fliter light went out 2 day ago and the top of the freezer would not freeze only the bottom i just order ice and wate filter do u think that is the problem i need a new filter but i never use it befor u dont have plug up to nothing
I think there's definitely a problem other than the filter. That shouldn't cause the freezer not to freeze. Not sure why one needs to unplug the fridge to change the water filter but in the interest of safety I won't argue the point. I changed the filter today on my Kenmore side by side without any problem until I tested the water dispenser which would not shut off after being engaged. Never had this happen after several prior changes. Shut the water supply off, reinstalled the filter (same way) then flushed the air out of the system and everything was fine. Any ideas what I did wrong?
I think it says something about that in the user manual for the Whirlpool refrigerator that I have. It said something about letting 3 gallons of water run through and having to turn it on and off in 5 second intervals.
My water still comes out slow is there a reason why and my red filter change light won’t come off
Perm on fleek
I was changing the filter on my Whirlpool Gold fridge. When I put the cap on the filter, inserted it and went to turn it clockwise, it wouldn't budge. I even used pliers. I then noticed that part of the plastic on the filter cap was broken, so I ordered one from you yesterday (AND RECEIVED IT TODAY, THANKS!!) but I'm having the same problem. When I look inside, I don't see any obstruction, and I've used this filter before. Any ideas why it will not turn to lock it into place? Thanks!
Sometimes you may have to push in on the filter to get it to engage in the housing.
I have tried this several times with pliers and will not budge \, Afraid to apply any more torque. Suggestions?
I have purchased the correct model filter for my refrigerator but when I line up the filter w/ the cap in the vertical position, I cannot turn it to engage. I am doing it correctly and have replaced this filter a number of times. When I use a light and look into the housing to see if anything is broken it looks perfectly fine. The last try I applied so much pressure to turn it clockwise one of the tabs on the filter handle snapped off. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Kids Footstop It should just slide in then you rotate it to lock it in. You can try wetting the o-rings to help them slide in easier. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.
@@appliancepartspros I have the same problem
I have an Amana Side by side refrigerator. ALL the instructions and videos say the filter should move out when the filter cover door is opened. Mine does not. There is no visible button to push. Help!!!
+Martin Scott Without the model number we cannot really know what you have. You can go to our website and enter the appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns. We changed the water filter as per your directions and now I'm not getting any water at all. Any suggestions for repair or troubleshooting?
Without knowing what you have, I would suggest posting the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/
My refrigerator is making noises when I use the water dispenser. Recently replaced the filter with a new one. The original filter that came with the fridge did not make noises. My wife cannot stand the noise. Whirlpool model WSF26C2EXY.
What should I do?
I am not sure what noise it could be making. It might be best to post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/
Thanks for the video. Unbelievably, this isn't even covered in Whirlpool's user manual. Do you have to turn the off the water supply before changing the filter?
I didn't, and now I'm paying the price
@@theodoredokos8145 Sorry to hear it.
can i remove the filter entirely? im about to install my ro filtration system and connect it to my fridge. i dont want any leaks but i also dont want any dirty filter ruining my water
***** They do sell filter by pass plugs for some filters. You can check on our site by searching with your model number. Also be aware that R/O systems can lower the water pressure and cause problem with the ice maker working.
No biggie there hasn't been any leaks and I just removed it completely. The water pressure hasn't been an issue yet
***** Awesome glad you got it up and running.
any flushing of the new filter required?
Yeah very recommended.they said about 4 gallons or so
Thanks
Didar Singh You are welcome, hope the video helped get the filter changed!
How do you reset the 'Change Filter' light?
Tap the button 5 times within 10 seconds
You're supposed to run some water through the new filter to get the carbon dust and air out
That is a good idea, yes.
AppliancePartsPros good idea that’s what your suppose to do 🤔
Why does my filter not have any water when removed?
My side by side Whirlpool refrig. filter is showing yellow light after only 3 months!!!! I did not even know it had a filter when i bought it. Would it be OK to just remove the filter? I am very tired of all these problems in my life (I am aged).
You risk of drinking contaminated water or it just won't flow
ulg! I bought a house and it didnt have the filter in it so i bought new filter but there is no old handle to put on to turn it around.
Jill Pearson you can buy the handle separately
Do you have to shut off the water or anything before doing this?
No you don't have to, when you pull filter out it does not run water. Water runs when you touch a drinking glass to the switch to fill water.
My fridge is a kitchenaide superba and the filter was probably last changed over 4 years ago before the foreclosure...we have owned the house for over a year and we've put this off because we are dreading it LOL and the ice and water still tastes more or less fresh but I want to change it because the indicator light is quite red ( duh lol ). Do I have to order something with the same or similar number on the filter?? I have not gotten the filter out yet. I don't want to spend 15 or 20 bucks on the wrong thing. I'm dreading this so bad because my hubby and I are not handy at all and it's hard for us to see or bend down. I'm afraid we're gonna mess it up or order the wrong one. Should I just hire a handyman or something to do this? How do you prime the filter?? It almost makes me want to just get a new Fridge. Honestly, it's overwhelming. Thanks for this helpful video though.
No need to buy a new fridge or call a technician! Swapping out filters is typically a very simple, quick process. Ty. I looked all over and could not fine it. I tryed to get it undone but couldn’t. Now what.
Do I have to un plug it to change it
I think so, at the end of the video he says to plug it back in
after I installed the New filter the water from the dispenser is just trickling out and No ice is being made. How could this happen? and What can I do to try and fix this? I have a whirpool side by side
+Brenda House Assuming you had good pressure before I would take the filter out and see if that improves the pressure. It could be the valves in the filter housing are bad and it need to be changed. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/

Thanks. My husband passed away a few months ago and I laid on the floor by the fridge asking him , in my sweet wife voice, why he never taught me how to do this.
😢😢😢
Do you turn the water off when you change the filter?
Did you ever find out if you need to turn the water off? I have the same question.
mine is stuck, the knob is not turning, what should i do???
How much water to be discarded after Changing the filter ?
4 gallons, according to the instructions on the back of the filter packaging. That sounds a little excessive to me (43 twelve-ounce glasses). So, I just do at least 12 twelve-ounce glasses and one or two bins of ice. 😀
I have always had a problem turning the filter once it is inserted. Your video makes it look easy when in fact it has never been easy. I have tried pliers and still it will not turn. What's up?
Elaine Gootee You have to push it in way harder than what this video shows. Take the grill cover off, and grab the steel frame bottom of the fridge to get leverage, then push really hard with the handle in a vertical position. Also, when taking it off, take the handle off and use pliers otherwise you will break the handle.
Elaine Gootee As Toni mentioned you may have to push in a little to get it to release.
+AppliancePartsPros Six months down the road, here I am again and I still can't get the %$ filter in.
+Elaine Gootee The filters should come in and out pretty easy, but yes some are tighter than others. The only thing I can think of is maybe the filter housing somehow got damaged on yours. Changing it is not that hard and we do have videos on the popular ones. You can go to our website and enter your appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns to see the housing and if it has a video.
My change filter light is on, but the water is not hooked up to the fridge? Do I really need to change it?
If there is no water hooked up to the fridge and you aren't using it to dispense water or ice, there's no reason to change the filter.
Your hair is awesome
Glad the video helped you get the filter changed!
AppliancePartsPros it did! Thanks ychf
I cant get the dial to MOVE! Help
If the filter will not turn you can remove the handle that snaps onto it and use a pliers to grab the filter directly.
Makes it look so easy, mine is glued in or something, have been gorilla man handling it all morning and the sob wont come out!
U omitted the most important step....step 1-----> obtaining the CORRECT FILTER. The top of the old and new filters u used were different, yet worked...... explain that.
50 bucks every 6 months was too much for me so I ditched this and went with a remote filter.
The red light came on and for the heck of it I reset the button and it turned back to green even without changing the filter. Does that mean the filter is still good?
It still needs to be replaced.
Was unplugging the fridge really necessary for that?
No
So we changed the filter the light turned green but water isn't coming out at all.
Maria Serna Make sure you turned the water back on, it may take a little while for it to dispense and get any air out of the line. Make sure you follow the filter box instructions on how much water to run through the dispenser. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.
What's the model number of that refrigerator?
michael campbell It was an older ED25 series.
AppliancePartsPros Hi. In my country this filter is sooo expensive. Can I leave it in and install the generic in line filter on a hose (water line) that is coming to the fridge? Thank you...
If the filter is in, water will pass through it and eventually it will clog, even with another filter. For some model you can buy a water filter bypass for this purpose. Check with your local suppliers to see if its possible for your model.

do you have to turn off water?
+Gilbert Aguilar You can turn it off it you want but it is not required.
+AppliancePartsPros thank you
+AppliancePartsPros confirmed, I did it without turning off water. Thanks!!
+AppliancePartsPros I bought a water fiter for same fridge in the video. The filter cost me 50 bucks at Home Depot and didn't even come with a sticker. Also the filter has a notice saying flush filter with 4 gallons of water. Is this necessary? I don't have time for all that especially with a thin stream of water coming out the fridge
You may want to see why you have low pressure. Flushing the filter removes any loose filter material that may be in the filter.
My old one won’t come out - I’m screwed
The filter directions said to flush 4 gallons of water after you install the filter.
All filters have different recommendations, but make sure you flush enough to get the air out and so that no more black powder is coming out.
Can I use without a filter? My water is fine and I don't have a filter on my sink water why do I need one on my fridge?
+Sue Warren You can give us a call with the appliance model number and we can see if there is a bypass for it. Some have it some do not, 1-877-477-7278.
+Sue Warren You can leave it out. There is a check valve that prevents leaking when it is removed.
Thank you
Glad you got it figured out!
Hmm, so is there no need to cut water supply to fridge off?
Bobby Blackwell You will get a little water when you take it out but you should not have to turn the water off.
