CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Randy (Jon Lovitz) drives Hitler's car into a conference for war veterans as the result of a misunderstanding with bikers.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A very loose remake of the classic multi-star comedy It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), this madcap comedy is directed by Jerry Zucker, one third of the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker comedy team and director of Ghost (1990). John Cleese stars as an eccentric casino owner who devises a contest pitting six teams against each other in a race to claim two million dollars from a locker in New Mexico. The competitors are Owen (Cuba Gooding Jr., who ends up driving a bus full of Lucille Ball imitators, a foreigner (Rowan Atkinson) who hitches a ride in an organ donor vehicle, and a recently reunited mother and daughter (Whoopi Goldberg and Lanei Chapman) who anger a "squirrel lady" (Kathy Bates) -- much to their regret. There are also two con artist brothers (Seth Green and Vince Vieluf), the upright Nick (Breckin Meyer), who gets a lift from cute but psychotic pilot Tracy (Amy Smart), and the eccentric Pear family, headed up by Jon Lovitz. Rat Race also stars Dave Thomas, Kathy Najimy, Wayne Knight, Dean Cain, and Paul Rodriguez.

LMFAO
Love the spongebob reference
Well, they ARE old men
Yeah it just came to me let's say that lol

Old H. finally left his hideout :D
No that was the Japanese.

Think you mean South American vacation.
"Hitler goes Hawaii", not sure if that album would sell.
Him slamming both fists on the podium killed me.
For me it was him giving everyone the finger 😂
Just listening to him spouting all that gibberish on the podium had me rolling on the floor 😂😂😂
When I was a kid, my family watched this movie when it was out on VHS. We laughed SO HARD at this scene. Comedy gold.
Same. Had to pause the tape as I couldn't breathe. Brilliant writing (the whole sequence of events).
I watched this at the cinema and then on DVD. Because in 2001 everyone had a DVD player

When I watched this scene for the first time I literally couldn't breathe from laughter...... I still can't breathe from laughter no matter how many times he watches it.

***** I had tears running down my eyes and was laughing for MINUTES in the movie theater after this scene ended... I almost had to step outside.
how many times watches it who?
Me2)))
I've watched it three times in a row and I still couldn't stop laughing.
The scene was so very well executed. Whoever wrote the script took their time and paid attention to every detail.
Written by Andy Breckman who created the tv show Monk as well as being credited as a writer for a number of comedies and tv shows including SNL.
Directed by Jerry Zucker who also wrote and directed Airplane!
That one soldier was thinking. “Like hell we’re going through this shi* again”
This is hands down the funniest part of the movie. "ARE YOU *INSANE* ? THIS IS HITLER'S CAR!"
I would honestly think that the family wouldn't care if it were hitlers car, to hell with hitler let the bikers trash it. With the family safely away of course.

This is a really well executed comedy scene. Those are rare these days.
This was one of the last really funny and well-made comedies to come out of Hollywood. In the 17 years since, comedy films have mostly become unfunny garbage.
Ya, China is not in to this type of humor unfortunately.
@@torstenscholz6243 Dodgeball?
I think comedies starting sucks in the 2010s. The last really really funny was maybe the hangover, but the gold ones were in the early 2000s
Tell me about it. Jon Lovitz is a comedic genius. “Are you insane? This is Hitler’s car!” And when his accent goes from cigarette burner to Germanic, haha. So good.
This might be one of the funniest scenes in all cinema. I stand by this.
Hitler turning up to a Veterans Day in his Mercedes with a Jewish family wearing a hawaian shirt. Whoever wrote this is a genius.
no pun intended
@@JIMANGRYFOOTCOMICS oh hoooo I genuinely didn’t realise what I did there
Rat Race really was one of the last truly great comedies to come from Hollywood. They just don't make them like this anymore - today everything must be overly politically correct and not offend anyone.
Ooh good a scam!
"I think I'm touching it" XD
“You wrecked hitlers car. What did he ever do to you”
-Nelson Muntz
Actually, come to think of it, literally nothing.
Jon Lovitz is Jewish though.
He cost my great great grandfather a good shot, literally two centimeters from his earlobe in the first world war, when he was still a little paper boy, sad that he missed, I mean after all my great great grandfather was part of the kaiser's army as well, you'd think point-blank shooting little pre-teen Hitler with a rifle because he was late with the mail would've worked but no, somehow the sights were off.
They stole Stalin’s car too, it was on the news.
The car or Hitler?
Dam that old vet wasn't having it and had memories and pulled out the strap 😂😂
Then he let loose but his aim just ain't what it used to be. 😂
He’s taking the shot. Something that went through every GIs mind. “ Couldn’t someone just have shat the sob. We wouldn’t be here.”
ikr
The Vets have PTSD
@@battle-brothermathenus7928 Cant even imagine what they went through
I can’t imagine the energy in the writing room when they were coming up with this
LMAO the vet with the gun was having NONE of it!
The fact he had the strap ready just needed to be cocked, and now realize I the same actor who played the cab driver in rush hour
The fact he crashes at a veteran celebration and just randomly decides to get up on stage and try and tell them what happened is one of the funniest jokes of the whole scene
He was told to talk by his wife. He didn't do this randomly.
This still cracks me up 19 years later. Wish more modern movies still had the guts to do this type of comedy.
So “problematic” by 2021 standards, and.... I LOVE IT!!!
Jon Lovitz is funny, but this scene puts him on a whole new level .

It’s called a farce, as based on the classical French drama. John Cleese, who also appears in this movie, used this comedy method to create the Fawlty Towers series. I don’t know if he helped write the screenplay for this movie but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did help.
