    The Upper East Side of Manhattan NYC is one of the five major areas that I go over in my Manhattan series. Also known in textspeak as UES, this portion of New York City has a good amount of art and culture. In this video, we will talk about the area as a whole, explain the streets and neighborhoods, and skittle in some facts. Whether you are visiting New York, new to NYC, or a local who's been here for awhile, I hope you enjoy this city and learn something new.
    If you like videos like this, please subscribe to my channel to learn more about New York City and city life in general. Enjoy and thank you for watching!

    I lived in Yorkville for 23 years and you're correct that it's not a "happening party place." I was a regular at a couple of good bars there, but for concerts and other events I usually go downtown. If you're a fitness or nature buff, the close proximity to Central Park is a big plus. In fact, that's the only thing I miss about living there. Central Park was virtually my backyard.

      @UrbanCaffeine  Před 3 lety +4

      Central Park makes that area so desirable. There was a bar there I used to go to for trivia night. Overall I like the neighborhood when I'm looking for an easy paced night. Thanks for watching my video!

      I spent 10’days in nyc and 3 days I lived in UES somewhere between carniege hill and yorkville. It seemed to me there were plenty of good restaurants and near museums and I was 4 blocks from Central Park which was great but I didn’t see many bars or clubs or live theater venues.
      I went to the Upper west side for one day and it seems more of the same as UES except less or no museum but the Lincoln center was there

    We lived on 72nd and 1st and it was a quiet neighbood with lots of things to do and lots of places to dine and shop. The best of it was that you could go and have fun all around Manhattan and then come home to a pretty quiet area. Very pricey but safe.

    I'm liking your concise and knowledgeable breakdown of the city. I live in westchester. We're planning on doing lots of city vacations in Europe, America east coast and Midwest cities. I thought it would be great to break the city into a bunch of "local" mini weekend explores. Your videos have been very helpful! This Sunday I'm hoping to to the New York historical society and exploring the upper West side. I post CZcams unedited footage of my walk around trips in the different cities we go. I appreciate all the effort you put into on your videos. Best wishes :-)

    Hello hello. I love your videos !!!! Im going to visit New York last week of May. This year. One question for you. What about public restrooms? I was watching a video from other youtuber and he said it is no restrooms open because the pandemic.Is it true???

    • @UrbanCaffeine
      @UrbanCaffeine  Před 2 lety

      Hi and thanks! Even before the pandemic, restrooms were always hard to come by. The default for many is to go to a Starbucks or large coffee place. As for public restrooms, the ones I know of are available. Maybe the video you saw was a bit older. Right now restrictions are starting to loosen up. Going out today is a lot different than it was 2 months ago.

    The UES is basically two zones, west of 3rd Ave and east of 3rd Ave. Carnegie and Lenox Hill are realistically just one neighborhood, and Yorkville should actually span from the bottom of UES to the top. Yorkville is honestly it's own separate neighborhood from the UES.

    Having lived in Yorkville for 15+ years, I would subdivide it in to two sections. 1st to 3rd and 1st to EE/river. Between 1st and 3rd there are a lot of recent college grads in walk-up rentals. The vibe can feel a bit like a fraternity party. Between 1st and East End it is much more, dare I say, residential. Some townhouses, many co-ops, a lot of stable ownership. Many young families since it's close to Carl Schurz Park. Very nice place to live.
