Pros And Cons Of Living On The Upper East Side

- Let's delve into the advantages and drawbacks of calling New York City's Upper East Side home. I kick off the video by promising to share insights into five pros and five cons, offering a close look at the local real estate scene. I introduce the Upper East Side as a spacious neighborhood, comparable in size to the Upper West Side, stretching from 59th Street to 96th Street besides a few exceptions.
To highlight the pros: the area's diverse culinary scene and high-end shopping, especially along the Avenues; the proximity to parks like Central Park and Carl Schurz Park; and the neighborhood's distinctive residential vibe with charming townhouses and single-family residences. I also point out the comparatively lower cost of living, making it an attractive option compared to downtown areas. However, it's not all sunshine; I discuss the limited nightlife options, potential transportation challenges, and the nuances of co-op apartments on the Upper East Side, which often come with stringent financial requirements.
As we wrap up, I provide a sneak peek into the Upper East Side's real estate market, showcasing examples of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and five-bedroom apartments as well as a townhouse for sale at $11,500,000. These examples offer you a firsthand look at the variety of housing options available. As a real estate professional with Living New York at Compass, I encourage viewers to reach out if considering a move and hint at additional insights into the area's cost of living.

I also just discovered your channel and the the way you make your videos speaks to me very much. You put very interesting and detailed informations in it and on top you seem like a very likable guy. I personally live in Paris and I'm blown away how much you have to pay for taxes and maintenance every month. Now I understand a little bit more why the rent in New York is so high. Paris is expensive too but nothing compared to New York. Looking forward to see more videos of you.
Thank you! I love Paris although its been some years since I've been!
That 3 bed apartment looks amazing
đđ
It was very entertaining, and I loved it! New Sub.
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for subscribing! I have a few like this, curious to your favorite! đ
I just subscribed to your channel. Great content and presentation. I look forward to seeing more installments.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Great video. Informative, thank you
Glad to hear David. I'm going to insert a neighborhood guide in the comment section and pin it to the top
Thanks for the info; I'll be moving to the City when I retire in a couple of years and the UES is definitely a consideration.
Glad the video was helpful! I will add a link to the UES neighborhood guide where you can find stats, what to expect, properties for sale and more. I'll also be coming out with more videos and adding them to the Upper East Side playlist. One will be a comparison between the Upper West and Upper East which I think you'll find very helpful. If theres anything you need feel free to reach out anytime! livingnewyork.com/neighborhoods/upper-east-side
The UES is definitely a great neighborhood, but I would strongly consider somewhere in Brownstone brooklyn as well if I was looking to retire in NYC. You get the same level of lovey histric architecture, you're the same distance from lower Manhattan, but the bulidings are smaller, the streets are quieter and at least in my experience there tends to be more community.
@@jimbo1637 I prefer Manhattan. I'll be "retired" from my long term career, but I'm still going to work.
@@waccamatt7533 makes sense!
Transportation is the biggest con about the UES, in my opinion. It's the #1 reason I'd never consider living in that area.
Noted! Which area do you like most in NYC?
Get a taxi dude...
Do some billionaire row reviews đ like Steinway tower Central Park tower etc
Will do!
Promo sm đ
With respect maybe under 5 minutes
the lot tax of that town house is 10,000 US dollar per month????? I don't understand this math, who the hell can afford such high tax???It does not make any sense...
Actually it is an apartment! The taxes are $4,742 and building charges $5,115. In NY monthlies are certainly amongst the most expensive in the country!
Too long
Thanks for the feedback! This was my second video and that's the first thing I realized that they were long besides the chapters. My goal is to keep them under 10 min now. My newer videos are a bit shorter đ
@@holtrealestate Not too long at all!
Quite enjoyed this videoâŠwould love to see some lower priced properties as well for we mere mortals!
@@brianog5267 Lol I'll include lower price points on my next videos I film!
