  • My wrx gets a much needed upgrade in today's video. Ever since I bought the car it felt Sloppy like most wrxs when engaging the clutch or coasting at low speeds in low gears. This sloppiness was amplified by my new ACT clutch and lightweight flywheel. Installing the Perrin Pitch Stop should take care of that!

      Pitch stop mount, transmission mount, steering damper, all of those things make a difference.

      It’s a must! I have a pitch stop, white line positive shift kit, rear diff inserts, group N sti trans mount. That and a bunch of shifter upgrades and it’s amazing.

      Remark axleback and Perrin pitch stop was the first 2 things I did 👍🏻

    I did the group n one when I changed the intercooler. It’s a nice mod to do that’s cost effective without adding too much nvh. I had a Grimmspeed one in my last wrx and they felt about the same to me.

    Just got mine in the mail today. The jolting in first gear and shifting to second is rough. I can't wait to get my put in.

    One of the first mods I made to my '22 WRX was swap out the stock PS for the Group N PS. Still plastic but with stiffer bushings. I wanted everything to look stock for warranty purposes. No increase in NVH. It did make shifting feel a bit smoother- mainly in the last bit of travel before the stick drops into gear. Easy mod that's worth doing.
    I'm going to do the N trans mount and poly bushing job next.

    It's been in my garage with all my ETS parts and accessport. Just happy to finally getting a new clutch, alternator, ac compressor and my trans rebuilt by Subaru after almost a year of bringing it in for problem after problem. They wouldn't even let me put an AOS on. Said it would void the warranty. So I finally get to start putting on parts at 18k miles. I got a lemon for sure.

    Just installed the Subaru Type N pitch stop mount, it looked identical but the bushing was a LOT firmer.

    This was one of the fist mods I did along with the N group mount and whiteline gearbox positive shift kit on my 22 WRX. I put the OEM pitch stop mount back in after only a month of running the Perrin mount. For me, the NVH was drastically more then I wanted to put up with. Though, it did do everything it claims. In stiffing up the engine motion and a sense of throttle improvement.Yet I found no matter how much "jerkiness" it took away at low speeds and shifts, IMHO I found zero difference from the perrin to OEM mount in that regard. I've done countless of hours in research in why and how to help improve the kangaroo effect by the way of honing my skills in how to properly drive a manual transmission via youtube, lol. As this is my first manuel. And what I find know matter what mounts you put on the car to stiffing it up in aid of the "jolts" it 100% comes down to driver skill. Coming from 20+ yrs of driving automatics, I learned manuels take much more finesse & skill to operate smoothly. I've come across many YT videos that have helped me immensely. One being on in low speeds in how to feather the throttle. If you come off it quickly or tapping the gas in 1st, you will move like a seal on land as like you described, Lol. Yet if the gas is used smoothly,feathered or held in one spot your car will move as smooth as butter in all gears yes even 1st. Imo, if one is struggling with sputtering effect, what really helped me is a good pair of driving shoes, or thin sole shoes and practice, practice, practice in being smooth and stable with the gas pedal and clutch control. That's where I put my money into after selling the aftermarket pitch mount. For me, it helped feel the input of the gas pedal and clutch far more then a thick sole shoe does. I can honestly say with over a year of going back to the OEM mount and many hours of narrowing down what I was terrible at doing in a manel, which was everything! btw LOL, I have drastically improved how I move my WRX in low speeds and shifting smoothly. Not to steer anyone away from the mount(s) they are a great aid in the stiffness of the car, and I'm sure I'll go back to a aftermarket pitch mount once the oem one wears out. Comes down to, do what feels best for your driving experience. You don't have to live with a mod if you don't like it. Take it from a guy who's gone down this rabbit hole and has had coil overs, billetworks STS and has gone back to stock on both. To which their own!! LOL.
    Sorry for rambling on! Just my humble opinion. 😁🤙

    I did use the same perrin pitch stop, but the engine noise was just a bit much for me, decided to change to the sti group n pitch stop which is stiffer than the stock one.

    I put installed an IAG Street pitch stop in mine and other than starting the engine it's not that loud. Seems around 2500 it makes that growling sound like heard in your vid. ETA - I have a vid on my channel that I was trying to capture the NVH and you can hear it.

    Ive got one installed on my 2020WRX. It's a premium aluminum pitch stop that, if you're ever in a head on collision, will slice right thru the firewall like warm butter.
    Be safe yall!

      @StreetInspired1 the perrin didn't break thru the firewall? Was this at over 30mph or so?
      I mean, Im glad to hear it, since I have one installed and I'm a little on edge thinking the engine is going to end up in the cabin at worst.

      Inspection stickers. Where I love once a year, your vehicle has to pass inspection and get those stickers. If they expire, you get a fine.

  • @funkndonut
    @funkndonut Před 3 měsíci

    i read that the group n one is more likely to snap in the event of a front end accident, whereas the perrin and other aluminum ones are so solid they will just punch through the cabin. i hate to plan for an accident but... what do you think???

  • @user-is5pq7hj4h
    @user-is5pq7hj4h Před 6 měsíci

    This should be paired with the transmission mount at minimum. So, on hard launch and spirited driving you wont rip its mount out of the firewall. Problem is well know on the va chassis.

  • @matthewwain9958
    @matthewwain9958 Před 6 měsíci

    In one of the Vermont Racing episodes when they were testing the new VB chassis setup, they found the engine was able to move around. From memory, they actually had to beef up the firewall/mount to stop it happening. So I wonder if we will see issues in our chassis in the future with the mount. Oh and thank you.... that kangaroo effect on my brand new VB is driving me nuts. I will be getting one of these.

      Found it: czcams.com/video/PUlBQwROqyk/video.html (Next stage part 4 5 minutes 53 seconds they discuss it, and briefly show a video. ) I believe you can also buy a Subaru pitch stop mount BRACE to reinforce that attachment point. Only just found that out, not sure if compatible with VB.
